Chapter 325: Ale does a good deed
Finally, the return to the surface wasn't interrupted by anything, Ale was half expecting to find [Gabriel Light] or [Elder] at the top of the elevator waiting to scold her or something, instead the elevator got to the top, a mechanical voice asked her to change. And the local AI asked if she needed a change of clothes.
Ale did not need that, so she just walked out, the exit point that she had come through was a local library, funny thing to think a bunch of miscreants coming out of a library. Ale couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of front or if the owner was a former minion who just let Vulcanus borrow their store. Either way, Ale walked out into the open to find the city going as normal, no alarms being called out, no messages bombarding her phone.
Actually, did she even had a social network set up? She knew that they had told her about A-frens and the like, but did she even make an account? Ale had no memories of doing so, neither as herself or as Alexa. Pulling out her phone she browsed towards the apps in question and opened them up, this particular phone was the one that Alexanders had sent her way, and one that [Elder] had approved, so there should be nothing wrong with it.
As soon as she opened the app in question, that was when Ale got surprised by the contents on it. There had three different sets of accounts up and ready. One for herself, one for Alexandra (Which had the black ribbon in a corner) and lastly, one for Alexa.
Ale had access at only two of those, and the third she had parenting rights, so while she couldn't see what Alexa could do, she could however, limit what type of sites Alexa could access and how much time she could have to use the phone.
As it was, Ale had a whole profile set up, with the whole shenanigans set up, apparently her profile was special as it had a secondary mode, she could go into her profile settings and activate a yellow check mark to flaunt around that she was a premium user. What advantages did it gave her?
She could set her profile picture as circular images instead of squares. She also could edit her posts and ensure her posts got thrown around to anyone she wanted. Did she want validation? Her posts would make the rounds in the right social circles of bootlickers. She wanted pity? Her posts would be curated for maximum pity baiting. She even had a personal assistant 24/7 at the click of a button.
Or, she could post as a normal user and build up her fame, her normal profile (Minus checkmark) was already linked with her streamer persona, and apparently, some of the Aleniateds (The sanest Aleniated series) had already found that profile and shared it all around her fan base.
As she had currently 4,376 followers, not that many. But not too shabby for a streamer who was starting up and didn't really stream that often, considering she had around 200 concurrent viewers on average, it was quite the good following.
It meant that most of her followers were what one would call hardcore followers, as not that many people went around to watch the streams even if they liked the streamer. Now if those Aleniateds weren't the most sane Aleniated fans series. Would that too much to ask? Probably.
Ale couldn't help but smile at the shenanigans her fans were doing theorizing when the profile had been made and why Ale hadn't said anything about it, a few even said that it was probably fake and were planning a mass reporting.
So while walking back home Ale couldn't resist the whimsy and pulled out the camera app, turned her phone into a selfie and took a picture of herself near the park. "It's me, don't report~" And with that she posted her first personal update to A-frens. Most of what she interacted with her fans had been through her A-tube account.
The response was both immediate and raised chaos into A-frens as while she didn't had that many subscribers, she was still high in the tier of most popular female streamers. As she went out of her way to mock Alexanders, not many streamers survived doing that.
Of course, a few suspected Ale had a special way to do so, not many had found the way she was doing it, since the consensus was that she was entertaining enough for Alexanders to not get bored, and that was why she was surviving. A few of the crazier Aleniated when about saying Ale was a lost sister of Alexanders.
And while the theory did became popular, many pointed out that there was no records of any sister to Alexanders, and the man would probably not shut up if such a person existed. It did not help that Alexanders hadn't said anything about that theory, not that anyone had brought it up to him. And if someone did, he would probably admit it in the moment.
If Ale was to be asked why, he probably was respecting Ale's rights to privacy, on his own twisted 'This amuses me' way. So while Ale was thankful to that, she wasn't thankful enough to go out of her way to thank Alexanders for it. She knew what kind of person he was.
With that done, Ale spend a few minutes setting up her profile and gave the right permissions and programs so Main Core could manage her social network, he would monitor the posts and delete those that weren't quite… sane.
Fans do be crazy sometimes, and Ale was not comfortable with what some of those had been drawing about her, nor the shipping they made. She wasn't interested in those things at the moment and while other streamers may be okay with it, Ale wanted no part on that type of content, she was more of the reaction and gaming type of gal.
Looking up and away from her phone (She had been walking in automatic mode, leaving Main Core to ensure she did not walk into walls or trucks) she found herself outside the apartment building. It helped that she had exited near the building, but even so. It was kinda nostalgic the fact that she was not going to see the building that often anymore, Ale couldn't help but feel as if she hadn't actually seen it before, even though she had pretty much lived all her life here (Albeit, a very short life).
Walking into the building and going past the reception Ale stood in front of the elevator… and the stairs.
She remembered the elevator, and why Alexa and herself hadn't used it that often, that Elevator was a death trap, and the reason why no one fixed it? They just fixed it enough so it wouldn't fall off. Now that she was standing here, she couldn't help it but feel that itch at the back of her head.
Ale was not only seeing the elevator, she was seeing all the type of fixed people had done to it, even what Ale and Alexa themselves had done that one time they boarded it. As [Elder] had said, the itch was annoying and Ale couldn't help but get frustrated, the marks left behind by everyone and how it was starting to cause even more issues.
Her insticts told her that just fixing the current issues would be enough to fix it, but then the itch at the back of her head also told her that she could actually fix the whole thing, while most of these fixes were more or less a band-aid over the issues that started to crop up.
She also remembered how [Elder] had said that indulging on these could affect how her Core Power evolved going forward, so she kinda understood why people only put band-aids at the issues. Since committing to it would affect how their Cores evolved. And no one wanted their Core Power to work with or only at elevators, neither did Ale.
But, "Main Core, just asking. But fixing this will not make my powers turn towards Elevators, would it?" Ale said as she walked forward and stood in the center of the Elevator, pushing the button towards her floor. Or well, the floor that [Big Sister]'s room was at.
[No, fixing this will not affect your power Mistress. As your power is based upon the deconstruction and reconstruction via the use of Nanites.]
"Just making sure of it." Ale said raising her hand and touching one of the walls of the elevator, the blueprint of the whole thing forming on her mind, along with multiples traces of different manas and Core Powers. All type of tinkerers had been working on it, more or less all had done a few sweeps at it. So the fixes and adjustments to the elevator always tilted in the same directions.
If anything, it looked more like a tug of war about how to fix the issue with the elevator, one person had wanted to reinforce the elevator as a whole, while other people focused on the elevator cord, and then there was the people that wanted to lighten the weight of the elevator as a whole to ensure it didn't need that much energy to work.
As for what Ale would do?
"Spread it evenly, ensure we can swap the whole thing in one go. Consume all the material that we can use and replace it with a more modern blueprint." Ale started to spread her nanites evenly across the whole thing. Even as it moved, she was leaving the elevator cable alone for now, but everything else? All of it was fair play.
Once Ale was sure she had access at everything, mana, remnants of Core Powers, tinker tech, everything that was on this goddamned death trap. Ale pulled the metaphorical trigger of her power and replaced the whole thing in one go.
As for the new blueprint? She pulled it from the database of the Saintsworths. So it was the most advanced piece of technology this building was going to have for a long time. Problems because maintenance?
The thing came with self maintenance robots that could be produced and stored as needed in the ceiling of the elevator. Energy? The thing was highly efficient and if anything, it consumed even less energy than before. Security? Integrity?
The whole city was already under the Saintsworths grip, anyone who thought that just because you didn't use their technology you were safe…? Those are actual nut jobs, want to escape the Saintsworths grip? Go and live in the mountains, chances were they also owned said mountain ( No really, Ale could see they had a few mountains under their name because of course the crazy bastards wanted to own a mountain in the middle of god knows where) though.
The main thing was that the elevator was now free of issues and Ale felt way better than she thought, she had burned even more mana and right now her mana was at less than half, but she wasn't going to fight and the most expensive use of Mana had been solved.
"Right, Main Core. Did you manage to squirrel away my body armor?" Ale said turning her awareness towards her body, scanning it with her newfound senses, she didn't felt any different or heavier. If anything she felt quite light at the moment.
[Yes, the bones of Mistress were hollowed to some degree and used as storage points. A few non critical organs had been repurposed and you now no longer have an appendix.]
"…I didn't need that one?" Ale said confused, all the blueprints she had seen of other humans had it. If anything she didn't remember any instance of a nonfunctional organ. Leaving aside the ramblings of Alexandra and Alexa about weird points on their biology. Ale herself hadn't seen any non vital parts.
Of course, they weren't the same as most normal humans, since they could replace those functions with Nanites and Mana. But not everyone could roll as they did.
[Not needed for your instance Mistress. In a normal human body the appendix is used to help boost the immune system in learning and identify harmful pathogens. But most human bodies can adapt to survive without said help. Past the age of ten it is considered no longer vital according to our calculations.]
Good thing that Ale was twelve then, not that she was actually twelve, just that her body was that of a normal twelve year old, since Ale was doing without one now. As apparently, her new appendix was now a deliver system for the mass that was her body armor. It was quite weird to know that most of her body armor had turned into a pseudo smart material that could be called out at a moments notice to flood her body. Main Core had also remodeled some of her circulatory system to use it as a delivery system for the most vital parts that needed to be delivered as fast as possible.
But overall? Ale could now suit up at a moments notice without needing to burn mana! Or well, not as much mana anyway, since some mana was used to get out the most complex parts that she couldn't reproduce or store as easily as the rest of the materials that were used. Like the power source, or well, the battery to said power source.
Her body armor worked with a combination of mana, both liquid and the gaseous kind. Also her main engine at the back of her shoulders also seemed to be a chemical engine that burned biomass? Probably a consideration out to the fact that Ale worked mostly on biomass?
Not that she was in need of much biomass these days? She still could get some out of it, but since she was now moving to the mechanical… well, she would need to leave that for Alexa from now going forward. Perhaps if she managed to manifest that fake shape shifting core they used once?
Not that she had many hopes about that, since her powers seemed to be focused more on the mechanical, and that was very much closer to the metaphysical. So that was now on Alexa's power set, assuming that Alexa hadn't changed how her powers worked? She doubted it, since Ale was coming out to the real world using Alexa as a medium. The fact that she could still exist today was proof that Alexa was still working as normal.
*Ding*
And while Ale was pondering about the immortality of crabs (And her own power armor's situation), the elevator dinged, it didn't use to ding before, but this was one of the changes that Ale had made to the elevator. Along with an anti tampering (That one came by default with most of the Saintsworths technology), Ale couldn't wait for what the result of this would be, so she walked out of the elevator as they had arrived at her floor and some other people walked in. They didn't react to the changes to the elevator, as Ale had replaced most of it with new materials (Or well, new changed materials, as she used the original ones and reconfigured to what it was now).
As it was, the people probably assumed that Ale had just done a paint job, they would be in for a rude awakening…
"WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!" The scream that came from the elevator as it was going down was wonderful.
"Nice reaction." Ale said nodding, pulling out her phone she took another selfie with the peace sign, "Did my good deed of the week, someone is angry when they should be happy."
And with that sent, Ale closed off the app, she was getting into the mood of sending some updates now and then, taunting the Aleniateds, one of them even commented how they had seen an elevator like that one, one that failed almost once every two days.
Surely… surely this goddamned city didn't had that many building with ruined elevators? That would mean that one of the people that lived in this apartment building was watching her stream, what were the chances?
"Very high, considering Alexanders…" Ale said to herself and decided to not stay there any longer than was needed, moving towards Big Sister's apartment and getting ready to leave.
