Double Dagger Delinquent

Chapter 83 Infinity Edge

Chapter 83 Infinity Edge

"Keep going, brothers! We need to burn those heretics!" Hak shouted, charging through the forest alongside the Blessed Child.

“Look!”

They stopped.

“Your Grace!”

“Quickly—help him!”

“Sister Clarissa—!”

The knights rushed to the fallen High Priest, surrounding him protectively. Clarissa dropped to her knees, channeling healing magic. Hak and Slash knelt beside her, worry plain on their hardened faces.

Bereket watched closely, golden light beginning to radiate from his body. The glow washed over those gathered, filling them with renewed strength.

“Now go, children of the Light,” he commanded, his voice deep and resolute. “Kill that man. Slaughter those little pests. And bring back Blaze alive... I will judge her myself.”

The knights roared in unison,

“For the Dominion of the Light!”

Then they surged deeper into the forest, splitting into squads and moving at frightening speed.

It didn’t take long for Austerius to stir. He coughed harshly, wheezing as he sat up, one hand pressed against his bruised lower body. Clarissa supported him gently.

“Your Grace, don’t worry,” she soothed. “We’re here. Everything will be all right.”

The High Priest’s gaze turned cold and hateful. His voice rasped with barely contained rage as he looked to Bereket.

“Child… that lowly spy. He works under Alexander Maxwell—that barbarian. He’s always been one of our greatest obstacles. We must burn the spy… and all those lowborn scum!

And that ungrateful wench—I’ll burn her myself. How dare she bite the hand that fed her?!” Read complete versıon only at novel⦿fire.net

Bereket’s expression remained stern and composed.

“High Priest,” he replied evenly, “Blaze was mind-controlled. She is innocent. I’ll take responsibility for her reformation. Please… do not interfere.”

Austerius’s face contorted.

“What nonsense are you spouting, child? Are you really so enchanted with that woman? She’s with the enemy—her true colors were clear as day!”

He leaned closer, eyes burning with fury.

“You must clear your mind of temptation. You’re the center of our order, the chosen one, the future! You will succeed me—you must lead humanity back to power. So act like it. Be strong.”

Bereket stood unmoving, his eyes cold and unreadable.

Around them, several guards and priests—the Protectors—stood watch, their armored forms tense in the forest shadows.

At last, Bereket spoke, his voice low but commanding:

“Protectors, form a perimeter. The enemy may still be near. I’ll escort the High Priest back myself.”

The knights and priests nodded and spread out, disappearing into the trees—leaving Bereket, Austerius, Clarissa, and the heavy silence between them.

Clarissa continued tending to the High Priest’s wounds.

“I should stay with you,” she said, concern in her voice.

“No,” Bereket replied softly. “Go with the others, Sister.”

“But—”

“Go.”

Clarissa hesitated, doubt flickering in her eyes.

“Have it your way…” Bereket sighed.

She turned to help the High Priest to his feet—but in that moment—

Shhhffft!

Bereket’s arm blurred.

A dagger of golden light drove straight into Austerius’s chest.

At the same instant, another blade stabbed through Clarissa’s back, piercing her heart.

Both crumpled to the ground, gasping, eyes wide with shock and betrayal as they stared up at him.

Bereket stood over them, his expression unchanged—calm, unflinching.

“I’ll do what’s best for the Order, Austerius. On my terms.”

He glanced down at Clarissa, whose breath rattled weakly in her throat.

“I told you to leave… sister.”

Then, in the next heartbeat, his face twisted into horror.

“HELP!” he bellowed, his voice echoing through the forest. “We’ve been ambushed! The High Priest and Sister Clarissa have been attacked! That man with the daggers—the shadow—he killed them!”

Shouts erupted from every direction…

“Agh—agh—shit, they’re getting closer,” Iryoku muttered as they ran. “I can feel it in my skin.”

He turned to Alessandra.

“What the hell is that fucking golden light?”

Alessandra kept pace, her breathing sharp.

“It’s Bereket’s blessing. It boosts their strength and speed—like an armor of aura—but he has to stay close to keep replenishing it. If he doesn’t, it fades. We need to hide before they catch up.”

Iryoku grinned.

“We’re here.”

Blaze narrowed her eyes, skeptical. A wide river stretched in front of them.

“This is it? A river? That’s not gonna stop them,” she argued, scanning the treeline behind them.

But Iryoku didn’t stop—he sped up, sprinting full force toward the edge. With a powerful leap, he launched himself over the river and landed clean on the opposite bank.

“Keep going, Alessandra!”

Blaze didn’t hesitate. She jumped next, her legs glowing with leben as she used all her strength. The children clung close in each of her arms, and together they landed safely on the far side.

But Iryoku didn’t keep running.

Instead, he turned back toward the woods.

“Be ready!” he shouted into the trees, quickly unwinding the rope from his shoulders and lowering the kids to the ground. “Go hide in that cave over there—there’s a big friend waiting who’ll protect you. Wait for big brother and big sister.”

The children nodded and scrambled toward a small cave nestled among the rocks.

“Rhogan, you know what to do!” Iryoku called out again, his voice cutting through the forest.

Blaze, tense and uncertain, stepped beside him.

“So… we’re fighting them head-on? That won’t work. They’ve still got the blessing—we’re no match. And I don’t even have my sword. Just my shield. Even if you’ve got more people hiding to help us…”

Iryoku met her gaze, calm and unshaken.

“Just leave it to me, Alessandra.”

He tightened the harpoon rope around his arm and flashed a sharp, reckless grin.

“Just be on guard.”

Then he closed his eyes, gripping the wolf fang dagger tightly. His breathing slowed, his body steadying as he focused.

Suddenly—Alessandra glanced at him—and he was gone.

She turned left and right, panic creeping in.

“What? Are you running away, coward? I thought you were different!”

Her voice was cut off by a low murmur, close yet somehow distant:

“I’m here… This attack needs focus. I can’t use it in the middle of a fight…”

Her heart pounded in her chest. She still didn’t know what he was planning.

Suddenly, from across the river, furious voices rose:

“There she is!”

“You’re gonna die, traitor!”

Hak and Slash—both radiating golden light, clad in pristine, gleaming armor and flowing golden cloaks—charged toward the riverbank with weapons drawn.

Alessandra’s face turned pale.

“No… not them. They’re the worst ones… the strongest warriors of the Order…” she whispered, dread settling deep in her chest.

Without hesitation, the towering knights reached the water’s edge—and leapt, aiming to cross the river in a single bound.

But just as they rose—

BOOM!

A massive bolt of lightning crashed down from the treeline, exploding into them mid-air. The sky lit up with a blinding white-blue flare as the forest shook with the blast.

“What the—?!” Alessandra gasped, instinctively raising her shield against the shockwave.

Both knights twisted midair, stunned and disoriented by the lightning.

Before they could recover, another surge of magic shot forward—a massive, spiraling spear of energy slammed straight into Slash’s chest.

He tried to lift his greatsword to block, but paralyzed by the lightning, he was too slow.

CRACK!

The spear drilled into his golden aura, spraying sparks as it tried to burrow deeper.

“Aargh!” he grunted, forcing his arm to move—his greatsword shifting just enough to deflect part of the strike. But it wasn’t enough. The spear tore through his left shoulder and part of his torso, ripping flesh and armor alike.

His body dropped.

At that same moment, Iryoku’s eyes snapped open from his hidden position.

He launched his harpoon—the alpha werewolf fang, his strongest weapon—at impossible speed. The tip glowed with a black, infinitely small point, like a tiny singularity. Its glowing white rope trailed behind like the tail of a comet.

“Infinite Edge!” he roared.

CRASH!

The dagger sliced through the air and struck Hak square in the chest. He had tried to shield himself with his sword—but the blade shattered instantly, the harpoon tearing through the blessing, armor, and steel like wet paper.

Hak’s body arched violently. His mouth opened to scream—

—but no sound came.

Only a dull, choking gasp escaped as he toppled, falling together with Slash into the river. The current dragged them away, while the lightning storm still rained down, crackling over the water.

Blaze’s jaw dropped at the sight, stunned by how quickly everything had happened. She turned to Iryoku; his breath was ragged, sweat beading on his brow.

“Ugh… hff… let’s move out before any more of them show up. Let’s go,” he rasped.

Without waiting, he grabbed Alessandra’s hand and pulled her toward the cave. Rhogan was already there, crouched low with all the children clinging to his massive back.

Blaze’s eyes widened at the sight of the hulking rhino-like beast, a flicker of strange familiarity tugging at her memory—but she had no time to think.

They rushed back into the forest, pushing past tangled roots and wet leaves, until they reached a thick patch of bushes.

Suddenly, the bushes shook. Blaze braced herself, lifting her shield, ready to block an attack—

But instead, two beautiful girls—only a little younger than her—burst out, leaping at her and nearly knocking her over.

“Sensei!” they sobbed in unison, throwing their arms around her and holding her tight.

“What’s… going on…?” Blaze murmured, taken aback as the girls cried against her chest.

Iryoku stepped in, his tone sharp.

“Not the time for reunions! We’ve still got those bastards hunting us.”

Both girls quickly wiped their tears and nodded.

“Let’s go, Sensei!” said the shorter girl with a bob-cut hairstyle. Her figure was surprisingly curvy—rivaling, and perhaps even surpassing, Blaze’s in some areas.

The taller girl, with long black hair and a slimmer build, wore a calmer expression.

“It’s good to have you back, Alessandra-sensei,” she added softly.

The group gathered themselves—and together, they dashed deeper into the forest, the shadows swallowing them as they fled.
