Chapter 77 Fortress City
Chapter 77 Fortress City
“This is horrendous,” Reika said, covering her mouth.
The group had arrived in front of three charred skeletons hanging from a wooden post. They dangled by their necks, each one bearing two small, distinctive horns on its skull. One of the skeletons was noticeably smaller—an infant.
“Death to all demihumans,” Reika read aloud from the sign nailed above them.
Iryoku and Yumi stood in silence, their expressions dark and grim.
They pressed on, continuing toward two large hills that loomed on the horizon as the crimson sun began to set.
The forest thinned out into a valley nestled just before the hills. In the clearing below, a massive stone wall stretched across the land, encircling a city like a fortress. Once again, they climbed to a high vantage point to scout ahead.
Yumi narrowed her eyes, focusing on the activity near the city gates.
“There are knights… and robed figures. Magicians, maybe?” she murmured. “The place looks more like a fortress.”
Then her eyes widened in horror.
“Wait…”
A raised platform stood outside the city wall. Dozens of humanoid figures were bound by the neck—some even smaller—and suddenly, they all ignited. Flames engulfed them as they screamed and struggled, writhing in agony, trying to escape their fate.
Yumi clutched her stomach and turned away, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“No…” she sobbed, on the verge of throwing up. “How can people be so cruel…?”
Iryoku stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Yumi protectively.
“Shhh… it’s okay,” he whispered. Even though he couldn’t see as clearly as Yumi, his eyes remained fixed on the distant fire—cold and grim.
Back on the ground, Yumi was still trembling. She wiped her eyes and tried to steady her breathing.
“The place is full of those knights. They’re all over the walls and patrolling outside. Some people seem to be entering and leaving, but I doubt they’ll let us in easily. It looks really hard to get through,” she reported, her voice shaky but focused.
“I don’t think Sensei could be in a place like that.”
“I agree,” Iryoku said quietly. “But it’s the only lead we have. Besides, we don’t know what her circumstances were when she arrived at this place.”
Reika, still nauseous from Yumi’s recounting of the execution, tried to think.
“We could go in and say we were attacked by demi-humans… maybe they’d let us through. As refugees,” she suggested, doing her best to form a plan.
Yumi gripped her bow tightly and nodded.
Iryoku looked at them both in silence, deep in thought—then finally let out a quiet sigh.
“No,” he said, shaking his head. “I’m sorry, but I’ll infiltrate alone. I can move without being seen. If Alessandra’s there, I’ll find her—and figure out a way to get us out.”
His eyes met theirs.
“Both of you… go back to Babel and wait for us.”
Reika’s expression hardened.
“Didn’t we already decide not to separate again?” she asked softly, her voice trembling.
“Stop trying to do everything by yourself, Iryoku,” Yumi added, her eyes shimmering with tears. “We’re strong too—we don’t always need to be saved.”
Reika stepped forward, her voice unsteady.
“Look at me, Iryoku… if something happens to you… I’ll…”
She looked down, then back at him and Yumi.
“I’ll kill myself. I don’t care. I’ll just die. Do you understand?”
Yumi stood beside her and nodded.
“I will too. So don’t even think about going alone. Please.”
Iryoku walked over and pulled both girls into a hug. Slowly, they began to calm down as he gently rubbed their backs.
Finally, he spoke.
“Look, I know you’re both strong. I’m not trying to diminish that—I know you can do things I can’t. But right now, stealth is our best option. I need to move without being seen, and if things go wrong, I have to be able to escape in an instant. That’s what I’m good at.”
The girls looked into his sharp, confident eyes. He smiled.
“I’m not going to die. I promise. I’ll find your sensei… and bring her back.”
He leaned in and kissed each girl on the cheek. They both glared at him, slightly flushed.
“So go back. That’s the best thing you can do for me. Give me strength, give me peace of mind—knowing you’re not in danger.”
Reika scowled.
“Yeah, and we’ll be losing our minds waiting.”
Yumi buried her face in Iryoku’s chest.
“We’re not going back to Babel,” she said firmly. Then she looked up at him.
“We’ll wait here—ready for anything. Just give me the signal, and I’ll rain down a flurry of magic arrows.”
Reika turned to her in disbelief.
“Wait, Yumi! Don’t just agree with him! This isn’t safe!”
But before she could finish, Iryoku grabbed Reika’s face and crashed his mouth onto hers. His tongue forced its way in, claiming her completely. She gasped, shocked—as his hand slid down and grabbed her ass with a rough squeeze. Her legs trembled instantly.
She tried to pull away, but he didn’t let her. His other hand slid up her side, fingers grazing beneath her chest. She moaned softly into the kiss—and that’s when she felt it: a thick, hard bulge grinding against her stomach through his pants.
Her whole body lit up like fire. Her knees nearly buckled.
When he finally pulled back, her lips were swollen, her breath ragged, her face flushed a deep red. Her eyes were half-lidded.
“Why… you… you can’t just—”
Iryoku cut her off with a bold grin.
“Listen to me, Reika.”
She shivered at the commanding tone in his voice.
“When I come back… I’m going to make you mine. Completely. I’ll take your first time—so wait for me here like a good wife. That’s not a request. That’s an order from your husband. And I expect you to obey.”
Her body went stiff, her lips parted in shock—but she didn’t protest. She just looked away, thighs pressed together so tightly it hurt.
Then he turned to Yumi, whose expression had gone sharp—almost stern.
“Yumi… once this is over, I won’t hold back anymore. I’ll have you every day—no matter the time or place. I’ve been patient while we searched for Reika and Alessandra… but after that, prepare yourself.”
His gaze darkened.
He stepped in, grabbed her hips, and pulled her flush against him. She could feel it—throbbing, thick, and eager—pressing hard into her belly.
Then he kissed her. Deeply. His tongue invaded her mouth as his hands slid over her ass, gripping her shamelessly, grinding her against him. Yumi rose onto her toes, matching his hunger with surprising intensity. She moaned softly into the kiss, her fingers curling into his shirt.
Reika couldn’t stop watching. She stood frozen, thighs squeezed tight, chest rising and falling.
When he finally pulled back, Yumi’s eyes were half-lidded, her lips slick. Her voice came out low and breathless.
“You better keep your promises…”
Iryoku finally stepped back and cracked his neck with a smirk.
“I’m already hard… hehe.”
He casually adjusted his pants, the grin on his face only widening as he caught their expressions.
“When it comes to speed, infiltration, and reaction time… there’s hardly anyone better than me.”
Then, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he added,
“Remember when we were thrown into this world? You two were in the school gym changing room. Truth is… I was there too. Hehehe. My eyes got quite the reward that day.”
Reika rolled her eyes with a small, flustered smile.
“Stupid pervert…”
Yumi shook her head, but she smiled too.
“Stupid Delinquent…”
Iryoku walked over to Rhogan and gently placed a hand on the rhino’s head. He met the beast’s eyes.
“Please protect them. If anything happens to me… keep them safe.”
He said it calmly, hoping a certain princess might be listening, somewhere beyond.
Rhogan let out a low, rumbling growl in response.
Turning back to the girls one last time, Iryoku gave them a serious nod.
“Hide and stay sharp. And don’t forget… after this, you both are my reward. So wait for me.”
And with that, he turned and disappeared into the distance—silent, focused, and determined.
