Chap 173: 2 lioness

Where was she again ?

"Gojo, pass the ball." Geto waved her arms exaggeratedly; Gojo didn't think much; her hand moved to pass.

But she froze, the field kept moving, but there was no sound. Sound should be picking up but didn't, why ?

Her eyes went dark, it was just her. Alone.

You are alone.

'No, I have friends with me.' She argues against the voices.

She had her best friend and...and they.....why ?

YOU ARE ALONE.

'No, no, no,' shaking her head violently, 'I have my Sensei.'

He didn't love you.

He was like a light at the end of a tunnel. Takumi stood in the reflection of the ground she was on.

'Sensei.' She tries to touch him, her hands fade right through.

'No, no,no nononononoo.' She clawed, she slammed her fist, nothing. Wailing for eternity, arms shaking, the man kept on moving while she was stuck in the void. Leaving her.

She didn't want to go back, she didn't want to be like before. 'Please, don't leave me here.'

YOU are alone.

"NOOOOOO!" Gojo woke up in cold sweats, she's in her bed in the dorm.

*Knock* Gojo flinched at the voice, "Hoko." She murmured. Relief washed over as she recognized the voice.

"Hey, you okay in there ?" The boy calls out, Gojo hesitated. "Sensei told me to check up on you."

She remembers it now.

That day when she tried to 'save' him, it didn't go so well. Her memories stop at the flashing of purple light.

The girl still has trouble explaining what happened, Takumi-sensei knocked her out somehow, he had that thing with him, and he was flying and all the curse tools he had.

Afterward, he healed her and brought her back to school. Not saying anything.

Gojo pulled her knees up and stuck her head in them, that was a shit day. Imagine your crush rejecting you then call the police on your ass.

An inaccurate way to say it but that is how she felt.

---------------

At the dismissive ring of the school bell, fluorescent light caught Geito's eyes through her lone strand of bangs

She was lounging at the gate, leaning her back against one of the ancient pillars. From the view of anyone walking out, they won't be able to see her. Geito shrugged her shoulders roughly, shifting the uniform fabric over her back to lie a little smoother.

Slithering below her ankle, a curse spirit finds its way up to her hand, the teen hangs it to her ear, listening with a neutral expression.

"What are you doing here ?" An accusing voice sounded.

"Hey Hoko."

"You know it's a punishable crime to spy on the male of the school right ?"

"Shhh."

She pulls the boy in without anyone seeing them, hiding behind the pillar.

"What's up with you today?"

"Investigating."

"By sending your goons to follow our teacher ?"

"So you do know, then you must also be aware what happened the day before."

"All I heard was that light is made by Gojo."

"But why though ?"

"Beats me, maybe it was a pretty strong curse, explain why our Sensei had to bring her back."

"Bad spot for secret conversation." Takumi's sudden appearance caused both student to jump in their places.

"Sensei, you scared us."

"Yeah." Geito is especially affected by it. "What are you hiding, Sensei?"

"Nothing that concerns both of you."

Neither of them knew what that was supposed to mean.

The morning after the incident, the school looked like it had survived a small natural disaster.

A section of the training grounds was gone. Three buildings had cracks running through them. Several ancient trees had been uprooted.

And nobody knew why.

The only witness was Gojo. Unfortunately, Gojo refused to explain. Which left everyone with questions.

Their teacher looked completely unconcerned about the fact that someone had nearly demolished part of the campus yesterday.

"What about Gojo?"

"Ah." Takumi nodded.

"The strongest."

"Yes, the strongest."

"The loudest."

"Also yes."

"The most troublesome."

"Definitely." Takumi folded his arms. "An unfortunate combination."

Geto resisted the urge to throw a rock at him.

"That's not the point."

"Then what is?"

"What happened to her yesterday?"

Takumi was silent for a moment. Then he opened one eye.

"She lost." Both girls froze, which immediately got their attention.

"Lost?" Geto repeated.

"Lost what?"

Takumi closed his eyes again.

"A battle."

"With who?" Hoko frowned.

Takumi pointed at his own chest.

"Herself."

"..."

"..."

Geto groaned.

"You're doing that thing again."

"What thing?"

"The cryptic thing."

For once he actually looked serious. "The strongest people don't break because they're weak." The smile disappeared from his face. "They break because they finally encounter something strength can't solve."

Neither student spoke. That sounded less like nonsense and more like an answer. Which was somehow more concerning.

Hoko narrowed his eyes.

"So she met someone?"

Takumi stared at him then slowly looked away, that alone was suspicious, Geto immediately noticed.

"Sensei."

Takumi remained silent.

"Sensei."

Still silent.

"YOU KNOW SOMETHING."

"I know many things."

"About Gojo." Takumi shrugged. "The moon knows the tides."

"What does that even mean?!"

"It means yes."

The day dragged on. Neither Geto nor Hoko managed to get anything useful from Takumi. By afternoon, Geto was heading back toward the dormitories. Then she spotted a familiar figure standing near the training grounds.

Gojo.

One of the strongest sorcerers in the school, nay, the world.

And currently, the most pathetic-looking person Geto had ever seen. Hair dishevelled, eyes twitching, in a ruined white tee.

Gojo stood completely still, staring at a crater. Leaning against a broken wall, arms crossed, that made her immediately feel danger, not the usual kind.

Geto approached cautiously.

"Oi." No response.

"Gojo." She got nothing.

Geto walked closer.

The usually arrogant girl looked exhausted.

Not physically or mentally but emotionally. Like she'd spent the entire night losing an argument with herself.

"Tell me something." The blonde eyes switch to Geto.

"How did it happen?" Geto froze.

Ah.

That.

The thing Gojo had apparently spent the last twenty-four hours obsessing over.

"How did what happen?" Gojo have a sudden wide smile.

"The kiss."

"..."

"..."

The air suddenly felt heavy. Geto immediately understood why half the school nearly exploded yesterday.

Gojo wasn't angry. She was jealous. Violently jealous. The kind of jealousy that belonged in psychological case studies.

Gojo stared at her.

Geto stared back.

Neither blinked.

Then Gojo laughed, the laugh of a completely sane person. Which somehow made it worse.

"That's funny."

"You make it sound like I planned it."

Gojo pointed at her.

"I DON'T CARE IF YOU PLANNED IT."

Several windows shattered. Geto winced.

Both girls stared at each other. A mutual understanding passed between them.

Neither wanted Takumi. That word wasn't strong enough, they wanted him entirely.

His attention. His time. His approval. Every smile. Every glance. Every word.

And unfortunately for everyone involved. There was only one Takumi.

Gojo's grin widened.

"Fight me."

Geto groaned.

"There it is."

"Fight me."

"No."

Gojo stepped forward, Geto could feel the pressure around her increase.

"You know what I think?" She had her hand up in a sign. "I think you're getting arrogant."

[Simple domain] and [New simple domain]

The pressure of her technique is lessened, and the shield in flower shape protects her from the blue orb landing.

"Takumi-Sensei likes talking to me more." The ground beneath Geto's feet fractured. But she didn't stop, "You know, now that I think about it—"

"Maybe you're just not his type."

Something cracked, like a switch was flipped in her head, and now she feels the need to destroy everything.

[Lapse: Maximum blue]

Just as she said, gravity shifted and a blue sphere was flying at her. The resulting shockwave demolished the ground.

"FINALLY." Gojo's eyes flared up, along with her curse energy.

"You did that on purpose!"

"Obviously!"

The strongest sorcerers in the school collided again. Another section of campus exploded.

Meanwhile, several hundred meters away, Takumi looked toward the distant cloud of dust.
