Truth Of The Forgotten Age

6-01: Requesting Custom Gear

Veronica was wandering around the house, doing her share of chores when Lilith suddenly pooped into existence.

"Well how rude..." Lilith said to herself.

"Uh... what?"

"So, I was able to speak to the other... 'voices' in your head. And they really want revenge against the Angels. Which, to be honest, I do to. But they want to corrupt you as much as possible to do it."

"That... Now I'm confused."

"You've got some old Hakano deep in your head, they're trying to make you more 'evil', for lack of a better word, to obtain their revenge against the Angels."

"Oh. I see. Uh... what should I do now?"

"For now, just try to not do what they say unless you absolutely want to. I wouldn't stop you either way, it is your choice to make. But, since I'm sure they won't leave your head until after they get their revenge to leave, I'm going to need to train you as much a spossible in the event that you have to fight against Angels."

"Alright. Where and when do we start?"

"Well, first, you need a new weapon. How long has it been?"

"About a week. That has no correlation, I think..."

"Sure it does. Liafi might be finished with her testing on that ore. So we can get her to get you a new sword."

"Okay. Guess I'll do that. After I finish sweeping."

Veronica continued on her chore, sweeping the floor and throwing away the dirt and debris before taking her leave.

The workshop was lit up, so Liafi was certainly going to be in. So, Veronica stepped through the door, the iconic bell welcoming her in. And the odd sound of small feet pitter-pattering on the floor.

"Welcome to Mama's shop! Please wait while I get her!" A small half goblin said before running off.

'Was that... Nia?'

"Ah, Veronica! You're back. Nia told me that someone came in." Liafi welcomed as she walked into the front room as the smaller half-goblin hid slightly behind her. "Nia, that's your other Mama."

"Other Mama?" Nia asked, looking between the two women quizzically.

Veronica squatted down to Nia's level, to make her feel a bit more comfortable.

"Hi, Nia. I'm Veronica, your other Mama. You can call me whatever you want."

"Mama and... Mommy?" Nia seemed to figure out what to call Veronica. "Mommy!" She exclaimed as she rushed to hug Veronica.

Though, Veronica never expected to be called "mommy", which caused her to go red. She still held her daughter tight. Liafi was right, Goblins really do mature fast.

The small goblin girl had Liafi's hair, but also had Veronica's piercing blue eyes. Veronica wondered how tall she'll grow, considering the fact that she's only half-goblin.

Nia had decided that their hug was finished and went off to go do other things, such as stocking up on smaller, lighter things.

"My first ever child is already the size of a five year old human child in the span of a week..."

"Yup! The miracles of goblin aging. Anyways, I assume you came about the ore?"

"Ah, yes!"

Liafi motioned for Veronica to follow her to the forge, where she was doing all the research on the new ore.

In the rear most room, where the forge was, there was a table with a processed ingot of what seemed like silver.

"So, that's what our mystery ore turned into." Liafi started to explain.

"Another form of silver? Or iron?"

"Only looks like it. But it's on a whole different scale. I've made various things from it with various tests. I've made daggers, rings and small pieces of armor."

"So, what exactly is different?"

"Well, when it comes to weapons, it's lighter than the usual steel. Just enough to make it lightweight without sacrificing too much damage from your swings. And it acts just like spring steel, so it's still rather flexible, and unlikely to break. And it also seems to keep an edge better."

"So it's really good for weapons, huh..." Thıs text ıs hosted at NoveI(F)ire.net

"Not just that. But with armor, it even stronger than steel. It really reminds me of dragon scale with how tough it is. But it's vastly lighter still. It's like the perfect metal to make things from. I even had a contact come by to see how strong of an enchantment could be put on the metal, and it's at rated to be at least fifty percent stronger than mithril."

"So what exactly do we have?"

"Well, in short... we could call it the metal of Gods. Perfect for weapons, perfect for armor, and can even hold stronger enchantments. Though, we still don't have an official name for it. And I also have told any officials about it yet either."

"I see... I wonder... Would you allow me to test out in the field?"

"As in forge you a weapon made out of a metal that hasn't gone through any sort of combat test whatsoever? I mean, your funeral, but I would like you to also watch Nia grow up."

"I have some good friends. Plus, it's a free way to get an idea on how well it actually works when put into practice."

Liafi was silent for a bit before giving in and agreeing.

"Fine. I'll make you something on three conditions. One, every time you come back from using the weapon, you tell me everything. Second, if you ever find more of that ore, you give it to me immediately. And third, you'll be a guinea pig for any extra research on this metal."

"Deal."

The two nodded as Liafi grabbed the ingot and brought over to the forge, all while the little Nia watched from afar.
