Truth Of The Forgotten Age

5-11: Another Floor Boss II

The skeletal warrior was surprisingly limber, moving as fluidly as a living human. And clearly, it had quite a bit of experience.

It stayed close to it's target, in this moment, that would be Veronica. It easily blocked or even dodged her attacks, so she needed to figure something out.

However, she couldn't spend too long trying figure it all out as the skeleton made sure to keep her on her toes.

Aviris has tried getting behind it, but it's situational awareness is superhuman, able to counter her own attacks and push her back without facing her.

Eleanora tried to stand by Veronica's side, but the skeleton seemingly had more training, even being able to trip her up and nearly injure her. If it wasn't for Veronica's quick movements, Eleanora would have been seriously hurt.

And most of Cassidy's spells were completely useless. The warrior was resisting all elemental magic, and it was quickly and effectively reacting to her Void magic. It seemed like the skeleton was made specifically as a hard counter to a well balanced team.

The only reason why Veronica hasn't backed off yet is due to Lilith's quick thinking and effort to keep Veronica in the fight. However, even woth Lilith's help, the skeleton was faster than Veronica, so she could only just barely react while the skeleton was overpowering her.

Seraph and her team weren't going to step in until someone was certain to die or get injured. They were about to go in when Eleanora got knocked down, but Veroninca's save made them back off.

"How is this thing so quick without muscles? And strong for that matter..." Lilth wondered.

"Don't know." Veronica quickly responded, keeping it short as she blocked a sword strike with her axe, which was taking quite a beating.

She stepped in close and pushed the skeleton as hard as she could, which surprisingly worked and caused the skeleton to be pushed a bit further, giving Veronica some breathing space.

It resists elemental magic, has the experience of a very well trained warrior, and is able to counter all the melee centered members of the group.

Veronica wouldn't be able to hit it, otherwise it's just blocked. But perhaps...

"Attack it at the same time!" Veronica commanded.

The other girls nodded and rushed in to attack.

Cassidy started with elemental spells, even if it resisted the elements, it can't resist the force behind them. Aviris made sure to keep it from stepping back, and Eleanora made sure to keep it from side-stepping. It's only way of movement was forward.

And now, being attack from three directions all at once opens it to an attack. Veronica rushed in, raising her axe high and swinging down as hard as she can. It's armor was harder than it looked, as her axe bounced.

She quickly looked for an unarmored part, as it's armor wasn't necessarily in the greatest condition. With a quick scan, she saw that the legs were unarmored, so she quickly slashed there.

A crunch from the bones, but no sever, the skeleton fell to one knee. However, it was still holding it's ground. And clearly, it was angry.

It unleashed some kind of power, launching the three melee attackers away. The skeleton shuffled towards Cassidy, and her spells, even with the heavy force behind them didn't slow it down.

It was about to strike, but Veronica rushed in, slamming her axe down onto the warrior's arm as hard as possible, breaking off the arm and breaking the axe at the same time. With extremely quick thinking, she grabbed the Skeleton's sword and stabbed it through the mouth, severing it's spine, causing it to drop like a sack of rocks.

It hadn't vanished yet, a reward hadn't appeared, and the doors haven't opened. So, it still must've been alove somehow.

As it could no longer attack, Veronica walked up to it, placing one of her feet over the skeleton's head and stomping on it as hard as she could, crushing the skull beneath her foot.

And finally, the skeleton had started to disintegrate, including the sword Veronica had used to kill it. Veronica dropped to the floor, exhausted, trying to cat h her breath.

"Is everyone alright?" Seraph asked.

"Just a couple of bruises, but I'm fine." Veronica responded.

"Same here." Eleanora said.

"Just fine." Casiddy said, walking over to Veronica.

"Gonna be sore, but I've had worse." Aviris admitted, as she rubbed her muscles.

"That's good." Seraph said.

Eleanora and Kazue went around the four, healing them with their magics. There was certainly a clear difference between their healing magic.

Aside from the basic point of Eleanora's healing magic being lower ranked than Kazue's, Eleanora's healing was like a somewhat cold breeze that engulfed the wounded parts. Kazue's, on the other hand, felt like a gentle warm embrace all over the body.

It was interesting to note how such similar magics were also different.

But, the girls were excited when a chest had formed in the middle of the room. They silently looked at each other and nodded, proceeding to look into the chest.

A pair of short swords which were designed for more covert things. So, Aviris got her hands on the free weapon upgrade. There was a new robe for mages, which was clearly for Cassidy. And rapier, elegant in design with the feeling of holy magic radiating off of it. So, Eleanora also got herself a weapon upgrade.

All that was left was a small amount of that same purple and gold ore that Veronica found earlier.

"What even is that?" Cassidy asked.

"I'm not sure. I'll stop by Liafi's when I can and see what she has to say about it." Veronica responded as she took the ore.

"Well girls, looks like we're going back up now." Seraph said, looking at how Veronica was now unarmed.

The girls nodded and followed their upperclassmen out of the boss room. The walk back was a little quick. Granted, the dungeon was always easier to leave than it is to get further in. If it wasn't for Lilith, some of these runs would take many days, if not more. Read complete versıon only at novel·fıre·net

On the way out, Veronica studied the ore. It had a unique appearance and was rather light. But aside from that, there wasn't much else she could note about it. But it felt like it was something important.

She should definitely go speak with Liafi as soon as possible.
