4-11: Ethereal Ravens’ First Fight
The girls walked out of the waiting room, trying to suppress their anxiety and nervousness. This was the first time they would be fighting against other people. Not only that, but there's thousands of people watching.
Uneven breathing, sweaty palms, a nervous twitch. This fight could be really easy, but it could also be extremely difficult. And they have no way of knowing until someone attacks.
The girls tried to calm themselves as they came into the light, standing on the arena edge. On the other side of the arena stood their opposing team. Two guys and two girls. The guys seemed to be some form of mage and typical warrior. The two girls looked to be some kind of ranged class and another warrior.
"Focus on one at a time. Swap targets when your finished with your target, or have something to help one of us." Veronica said quietly, so only her team would hear.
"Roger that, leader!" Cassidy responded energetically while the other two simply nodded in affirmation.
The crowd was anxious, waiting for the announcer to speak.
"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the fifth fight of the day. On the East side, we have the Salamanders of the Saint! And in the West side we have our first all female team in a match today, being trained under the legendary hero Mercy herself, and coning from all ways of life, I welcome the Ethereal Ravens!"
The crowd cheered wildly. But with the announcer using Tisha's name may have put many expectations on the girls. So now, they really need to try their best and show off what they could do.
"Combatants, begin!" The announcer yelled out, signaling the start of the fight.
Veronica took a deep breath and signaled to Aviris to go along with her. The two girls rushed towards their opponents, with Eleanora coming up behind them, and Cassidy using her magic to target the last opponent.
Veronica had targeted the male warrior. He was using a simple straight sword, one handed, and no shield. She waited for him to attack first, studying his movements for a short time. His swings were wild, no finess at all. The only issue is the unpredictability and speed of his swings. He was clearly putting in as much force into his swings as possible. But, at the same time, this gave Veronica an idea.
She stayed back, just outside the reach of his sword, simply dodging each swing. Her plan was to drain him of his energy. Her small, quick movements would use less stamina than his huge wild swings. She turned it into a battle of attrition, but she has more supplies. All Veronica had to do for now, was simply wait.
Aviris was targeting the ranged combatant. Her speed and nimbleness keep her out of the crosshairs of the girl. She wanted to get closer, but the mage kept casting spells preventing her from moving closer. She tried again, and saw the mage casting another spell. But this time, when the mage went to throw the spell, it disappeared. Even the mage was confused, but Aviris took the opportunity to close in on her target. Aviris got behind the girl and but her blade to her throat, forcing the girl to surrender.
After putting her down, she looked towards Cassidy, who gave her a thumbs up before resuming her own spell casting against the mage. The mage, who's spells kept disappearing before being able to fully cast it. Cassidy clearly unlocked a new spell, and didn't tell anyone about it.
Eleanora was after the female warrior. And to be honest, Eleanora really wasn't struggling all that much. She was silently critiquing the girl, who's own attacks were slow and untrained. Apprehensive too. Eleanora narrowed the apprehensiveness to two different reasons. The first, being the girl didn't really want to be a warrior, but still wanted to be an adventurer. And the second, she knew that Eleanora was the second princess, and didn't want to hurt her. Cute, but unnecessary.
Eleanora quickly put the girl down as gently as she could, forcing her to give up. The girl sighed and raised her hands in defeat. Leaving just the other warrior and the mage.
The warrior was starting to lose his strength, his attacks starting to follow the path of least resistance and were getting slower and slower. But Veronica herself was still full of energy. With his movements slowed, Veronica decided to finally attack, going low and targeting his knees. Her first attack did nothing, but she swung the toher way and struck the back of his knee as hard as possible, bringing him down to the ground. Refusing to let him get back up, she put the blade of her axe to his throat. Nothing more he could do here.
Which just left the mage, who Cassidy was just playing around with at this point. She kept using her new spell constantly, making the mage's spells disappear. The was getting extremely aggravated at this, and decided to not use magic and rush Cassidy, swinging his staff wildly. Cassidy, however, simply smirked as she used her void magic to turn the mage around. One second, he was charging Cassidy, and the next, he was looking at his team, all of whom were on the ground.
He grabbed his staff tightly, then sighed raising his hands in defeat.
"The Ethereal Ravens are the winners of the fifth match! Quite impressive girls! Please leave the arena now and rest. You've earned it." The announcer stated.
The girls left the arena with a smile on their faces. Sweat had built up on some of them, but they won without too much struggle.
"That was surprisingly fun!" Cassidy laughed.
"You were playing around with that mage the entire time! Unlike the rest of us, who had to use out physicality!" Aviris joked.
"Speaking of which, what was that spell you were using?" Veronica asked.
"Ah, that one! I think it's my new favorite. So, you know the basic spell 'counterspell'?" Cassidy responded.
"Yeah. But doesn't it cause the spell to fizzle and fail?"
"Well, yeah. But my class gave me a unique void version. And it's a bit uh... broken? You see, I basically just... absorb the spell. Including the magic used to make it."
"So... you can just have infinite magic by absorbing other mages spells. That's... I'm glad your on our side." Aviris was stunned.
Rather, all the girls were stunned. Cassidy was certainly going to become a very powerful mage. Sooner rather than later too.
"Ahem... Well, we got some time to pass now. Do you girls want to watch the rest of the fights?" Eleanora asked, wondering what they should do next.
Veronica however, squirmed a bit. There was a sudden, random stiffening from down below.
"Uh... p-perhaps later? My uh... it..." Veronica was trying to word it in such a way so that if anyone outside got nosy, wouldn't now of Veronica's secret.
"You're horny?" Cassidy blatantly said.
Veronica nodded her head in return, her attached partner growing stiffer and stiffer.
"Well, for starters, we can't stay here. Let's head back to the apartment. And on the way, I guess you should choose who'll take care of you. Obviously, I'm down with it~" Cassidy stated, locking her lips.
"I haven't tried it yet." Aviris said, with blush growing on her face.
"I'm willing." The princess offered, seemingly to forget that she could easily cause a scandal if anyone were to find out.
"I-I'll think about it." Veronica said, quickly trying to make her way back to the apartment.
However, she silently wished that she could use them all at the same time. But maybe later, when she's built up more confidence.
