Chapter 380: Opportunity To Strike Rich - 2
"What money?" Leo asked.
"Didn’t you see so many high-level beasts falling from the sky? If they are not free money, then what are they?" Brant said. Leo instantly realised what Brant was talking about.
"But what about that king and the attack that is still going on?"
As he spoke, loud crashes of lightning, the heavy downpour, and the howling wind could be heard from outside.
"That’s not an attack; that’s just the residual effect of a king’s presence that was left here. And yes, it’s still dangerous... for people with strength lower than 3-star. So you should all take this opportunity to go around and look for dead beasts. Tap your badge, earn credits, and store those high-ranked beast cores for your beasts’ consumption when they reach a suitable rank. I will tell you now, every beast that fell from the sky is at minimum a Super Bloodline beast. You must understand the value of those cores, I guess."
Then Brant thought for a while.
"I am sure Uraan must already be itching to fly around with his falcon in search of a new avian beast that might have luckily survived. Though the chances are very low, there are still some chances."
Leo quickly thought about it.
The minimum fallen beast would be around 3 stars--since they were brave enough-- and the maximum would be High 4 stars, because those were the ones he didn’t see flying along with the king’s entourage.
And a High 4-star beast meant two precious materials—Beast Core and Mana Crystal—were confirmed, and each would go for 80K AC. And in case he found a Soul Stone, it would be even more valuable. Counting the body in, a single High 4-star beast corpse could earn him half a million AC, because the beast cores were of noble or super bloodline.
He was instantly taken by the idea. Even if he just managed to gather 5 to 10 corpses, his AC balance, which was just over 10 million, would get replenished. And he needed to do it, because his income backup, the Elasian Bloom petals, was no longer a viable option. This was because he had started to consume one petal every other day. His body was getting used to it, and so was his soul, so he could consume more at regular intervals.
This meant he would no longer be left with surplus Elasian Blooms to sell.
But the painful part was that, even after consuming more than 2 whole flowers, neither of his souls had advanced. It was apparently due to his Mythical soul taking most of the energy for itself.
Leo sighed, then a determined expression formed on his face.
He needed this extra money, especially now that he had more mouths to feed
.
"Professor Brant, is it safe for us to go now?" he asked.
Brant shook his head.
"This raging storm can never be safe for at least 16 more hours. Not for you, not for anybody. But you are capable of enduring it; this simply means you have a head start of 16 hours. And be careful, or you might get entangled with some seniors who might already be on the lookout."
Leo looked towards Lily.
"What are you looking at me for? Let’s go. We cannot afford to miss a single penny when you keep throwing it around like dirt," she said with a huff.
"But Brok cannot take us. His eagle is at max a Pseudo 3-star beast," Leo said.
"We can ride Singham; he can take all 3 of us," Kaelion said.
"I guess Shyra can also move with her spatial stealth technique. Then we should move out already. We are already slow since we will be travelling on foot."
Kaelion nodded.
"4, not 3. Sylrael will also come; she has the strength," Lily said, then turned towards Sylrael.
"Any problem with getting a bit wet?"
"None at all. I will be glad to be of your service, Lady Lily," Sylrael said.
Lily shook her head and then tapped her shoulder.
"I told you, no need to be so stiff. You can call me sister."
"I-I will try..." Sylrael said, shifting awkwardly. Never in her dreams had she thought someone could get such good treatment while being a slave. Especially elven slaves like them.
Brant and Katherine raised their brows at the interaction but didn’t say anything. They knew people from the outskirts tended to be a bit eccentric and follow a different path from what was mainstream.
Maybe they will be the seed that will break this stupid rule, Brant thought, thinking about the long-standing compulsory rule of slavery for other races in human lands.
But before they went out, Katherine told them to come stand in place. She touched their foreheads one by one and chanted a spell that created a forcefield barrier like second skin that would prevent them from getting wet.
"Now, no need to get worried about getting wet," she said, looking at Sylrael, whose head was still low.
Sylrael still seemed to be scared of Katherine after the harsh treatment she had received from her while they were enslaved.
As the group stepped out of the entrance that Leo reopened, they were welcomed by ear-deafening lightning strikes that were still striking the deer antler that Leo had placed.
CRASH! BOOM! CRACKLE—CRASH! BOOM!
"It’s still doing its job? Damn." Leo had thought that it had broken long ago, since the soundproofing made it difficult for them to tell whether the noise was from natural lightning or the antler.
But Kaelion’s eyes narrowed at the blinding place where the lightning kept striking without rest.
"Was it some sort of natural treasure? Like a plant or something?" he asked.
"No, I received it as a gift from a male elk when I healed its mate during the trial. It was an antler," Leo replied.
"Oh..." Kaelion’s expression turned thoughtful.
"That thing might have ranked up if it could absorb whatever lightning strikes are falling on it."
Leo raised his brow, a bit excited.
"That would be great news, to be honest..."
