Chapter 379: Great News!
Lin Xuan Qi changed the topic and got to what he came here for.
He glanced at Yue Jie and said, "I have some news for you."
"News about what?" Yue Jie tilted her head and asked.
She had no idea what it was about.
"I went to buy a property for the new factory at the Registrar of Deeds and I got a surprise from it.
"The previous Registrar Chen Liang had been apprehended and put behind bars by the Governor for corruption.
"There might be a chance that your father’s name can be cleared."
"Really?" Yue Jie leaned forward and said with her eyes opened wide.
The mere mention of the name Chen Liang was enough to bring back bad memories for her.
And she couldn’t believe it when she heard what he had said.
Lin Xuan Qi’s news was beyond her wildest dream.
Not only would her nemesis be dealt with, her father might be able to walk as a free man again.
She took a deep breath and stood up.
Yue Jie gave him a hug and leaned her head onto his shoulder.
When he felt her body trembling with joy, Lin Xuan Qi held her closer, stroked her back and tried to soothe her.
"I know you are excited about it but it is not confirmed yet.
"They are going through the records and I will have to make a trip to the Governor to check if it is possible to right your father’s name."
Yue Jie lifted her head and glanced at him.
He had helped her a lot and given her and Yue Xin a new life so far.
It might be too much if she asked him to make sure that her father became a free man again.
After a short sigh, she nodded her head and said, "It’s fine if it’s not possible.
"Focus on what you need to do first."
Her father was, after all, not in danger so far, so she didn’t want him to be distracted by it.
Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head but he planned to try his best instead.
She was his concubine and had helped him with the budget of the Clan.
It was the least he could do for her.
And on top of that, he would be doing it for Yue Xin too.
He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Hopefully, I can get it done before the wedding so that he can be the elder to be present for Yue Xin."
"Thanks." Yue Jie buried her head into his chest and held him tight.
She couldn’t ask anything more from him.
Lin Xuan Qi felt the softness that enveloped him but he had to part with it.
"I need to check something with Shi Shi first.
"Dinner should be ready soon, I’ll see you later." He patted her back and she let go of him reluctantly.
Lin Xuan Qi gave her a smile, brushed the strands of hair on her forehead to the side and left the bedroom.
When he saw Liu Shi Shi, she was in the garden, sitting in the pavilion that was beside the pond.
She was drinking tea by herself while marveling at the autumn scenery.
"Isn’t it a little too cold to be out here?" Lin Xuan Qi asked and sat beside her.
"I like the cold." She said and poured him a cup of tea.
"Well, if you like the cold, you are missing out on the sauna." Lin Xuan Qi said and picked up the cup of tea.
"Sauna?" Liu Shi Shi had heard about it before but didn’t have the chance to see what it was about.
"You can have a try at it when you are free." Lin Xuan Qi said and reminded himself to ask Xue Cong and the others about the sauna one of these days.
It was an oversight by him as they didn’t have a chance to enjoy the sauna yet.
He was too busy with Huo Fei Li and Lu Ting back then, when they were around in Hong Feng City.
And since they were gone for now, he had the time to enjoy the sauna with Xue Cong and the others soon.
Liu Shi Shi glanced at him and asked, "Alone with you?"
She was always much more direct than Xue Cong, Yue Jie and Yue Xin.
Lin Xuan Qi returned in kind and held onto her hand, "If you want to."
He wouldn’t mind spending time with her alone in the sauna.
She had been helping with the security of the mansion in any way she could so far and had no complaints whatsoever.
And even when he had spent most of his time with Xue Cong and Yue Jie after he got married to them.
Lin Xuan Qi knew that it must have taken a lot of her patience to do so and wait for their wedding.
She would have gone on a rampage if she was the Liu Shi Shi when he had just met her.
He quickly got back to the purpose of seeing her and said, "I have something to ask about the wedding."
Liu Shi Shi frowned and waited for his question.
"Do you have any elders to be present at the wedding ceremony?"
"Elders?" She said and glanced at the pond that wasn’t too far away.
A cold breeze blew across the pond and stirred the surface of the water.
Liu Shi Shi gave out a long sigh and said, "My family have all been killed and there aren’t any elders left..."
"I’m sorry." Lin Xuan Qi tightened his grip on her hand and said.
He didn’t expect such a grim response from her.
All the while, she had been nonchalant and carefree to him.
Little did he know that she would come from such a background.
"It’s fine, I’ve got over it ever since..." She blushed and lowered her head, "...ever since I’ve met you."
He had given her a stable new life, compared to the wandering and dangerous lifestyle when she was a martial arts fighter.
And she was eternally grateful for that.
Lin Xuan Qi didn’t know how to respond to that and he asked, "So, do you have anyone in place?"
