Chapter 517 - 269: It’s All Your Fault
Li Ang murmured almost unconsciously to himself.
Though Meluna appeared disheveled, as long as she held the long sword, the fierce aura emanating from her was something no one dared to underestimate.
She sheathed her sword and immediately seemed like a defeated person, her shoulders slumping down; upon making eye contact with Li Ang, she shrank back and hid behind Farina.
Li Ang cradled the dazed Meimei, his thoughts unclear.
He rubbed his temples vigorously and took a deep breath.
Farina’s expression was meaningful, but she didn’t respond.
Li Ang initially avoided her gaze, but upon seeing her choose a gentle silence, he felt much at ease.
However, he continued facing the Dragon Witch and the young girl whose face was obscured by disheveled black hair, standing silently.
The silence lasted for a long time until Farina spoke first: "I noticed another force nearby, so I went to take a look."
Li Ang knew that with Meluna’s strength, as long as she was on Mengze Island, she could perceive any significant fluctuation of the Power of Water.
The issue was, why was she really here, why would she be here, and why only emerged now.
Li Ang frowned as he looked at her, but she merely hid behind Farina without speaking.
The Dragon Witch had her first encounter with the renowned Female Sword Hero, completely unanticipated by her demeanor.
"And then I saw this girl, she should be your... old acquaintance. Since the main party is here, I thought it’d be better to come and clarify things."
Farina viewed the situation from the perspective of a mature woman, believing that communication could resolve the current issues.
"Clear things up, is it that easy?" Li Ang said calmly.
He himself was surprised; he felt neither erupting anger nor a rush of emotions to vent; there was only calmness.
But emotional calm did not mean mental clarity; excessive chaos made him unwilling to think.
Moreover, he could clearly foresee that things couldn’t be clearly explained regarding Meluna.
Farina glanced at Meimei cradled in Li Ang’s arms, even after she tidied her up a bit, tear stains and disheveled clothes were still evident; at least from outsiders’ perspectives, a fierce conflict within this domain was inevitable.
The Dragon Witch understood Li Ang’s unstable thoughts now.
Be it Meimei who suddenly acted, or Meluna who vanished after leaving a mess behind, either was enough to trouble most people.
And Meimei’s various traits, almost identical to Meluna’s, ultimately led Li Ang to mistakenly recognize her, thus facing her assault, employing indescribable tactics.
And now, he’s being told he mistook someone else?
Then what is Meimei doing?
Evidently, he would be very conflicted.
In the domain, it’s likely he mistook the other party for the girlfriend suddenly drawing a sword, hence deployed a rather... indescribable approach toward outsiders, something the Dragon Witch could deduce partially, aware of Li Ang at some critical state upon discovering the true situation.
"Things here are indeed confusing," Farina turned around, "Girl, could you tell us?"
"That’s because... I didn’t expect there would be another me besides myself... Her method was different when she came, and I don’t know which stage she is at..."
Meluna finally lifted her head, but did not look at Li Ang, instead stared at Meimei in his arms.
Her voice was soft and raspy, but as soon as she spoke, Farina raised an eyebrow since it was remarkably similar to Meimei’s voice.
One could even say she seemed like Meimei speaking in another tone.
However, she appeared completely unskilled in communication, making her words somewhat baffling.
"Meluna," Li Ang called.
From Farina’s angle, the young girl with a faintly panicked face suddenly brightened in expression.
"Li Ang, are you, are you okay?"
"What’s the standard for okay?" Li Ang retorted.
Meluna seemed stunned, as if this question was unexpected for her.
The Dragon Witch kept sneaking glances at this Female Sword Hero; her watery blue eyes were indistinguishable from Meimei’s, not to mention the facial contour and features were entirely identical, akin to a grown-up Meimei, except for one having ink-dark hair and the other possessing an ethereal pure white.
"Just, you know, can you eat enough? Are you dressed properly..."
Meluna mumbled a few words, as if realizing her perception was too shallow, making it hard to continue.
"And you? Ah, forget it, it’s obvious; really can’t understand why you have zero self-care ability."
"Each time I tidy up, it’s soon a mess again," Meluna said, seemingly troubled.
Li Ang sighed, stuffed Meimei into Meluna’s arms.
The black-haired girl dumbfoundedly accepted the girl with the same appearance, and Li Ang skillfully smoothed her hair, even wiped off a few dirt patches on her delicate beauty, significantly reducing her previous disarray, instantly changing her demeanor.
Even Farina’s eyes lit up, admitting she was an exceptional beauty.
Meluna’s tense demeanor relaxed under Li Ang’s actions, even slightly squinting as if entirely drifting into a peaceful state.
Could this... at least indicate a thawing in relations? The Dragon Witch thought.
After Li Ang ceased his actions, he took Meimei back and walked away.
Meluna naturally followed behind him; she wasn’t tall, only a bit taller than Zoe, compared to Farina remained a head shorter, so her stride was smaller than Li Ang’s.
