Chapter 653: The Gene Lock Runs Wild
Now, Henwell, who has fallen into a delirious state, is terrifying.
The Lord Iron Guards outside the door can't even approach the entrance.
Just as they are at a loss, Melissa arrives at the study door while holding her second son, Hunter.
When Dalton, Wizet, and the others see that Melissa intends to go in, they hurriedly stop her.
"Madam, my lord's state is very wrong. It is too dangerous for you to go over now!"
Melissa pushes aside their obstruction. "That is why I need to wake him up!"
After saying this, she ignores everyone's attempts to stop her and walks straight into the study.
The others try to follow, but the force radiating from Henwell sweeps them out.
Surprisingly, Henwell's surging force seems to sense Melissa and her child, and it doesn't affect them.
Dalton and the others can only watch helplessly as the mother and son disappear through the study door.
After Melissa enters, she sees chaos everywhere.
Books, furniture, and other objects have been shredded by the Blood Will radiating from Henwell, their fragments circling around his body.
Henwell's long black hair drifts and sways, faintly dyed blood red.
Strange blood-red patterns spread from his palms to his face.
Blood flames drift in his eyes, shining like red gemstones.
Just as Melissa is about to approach, Hunter, in her arms, says, "Father, why did you break everything? Do you need your hand slapped too?"
Henwell suddenly raises his head and stares at the mother and son like a bloodthirsty beast.
Little Hunter is so frightened that he shrinks into his mother's arms.
Melissa glares at Henwell. "What? Do you want to hit your wife too?"
Those words make the energy around Henwell suddenly freeze. Then Hunter's little mouth twists, and he bursts into frightened tears.
Henwell freezes where he stands. The Blood Will around him slowly retracts into his body, and his eyes gradually clear.
A moment later, Henwell frowns. "Why did you come here? Did you not know how dangerous it was just now?"
Melissa glares at him. "Do not change the subject! Tell me! Were you about to hit us just now?"
Henwell says, "I was in spiritual rampage just now. That state is very dangerous. Do not do this again."
Melissa says, "So you mean if you are in spiritual rampage, you can hit us?"
Henwell is left speechless.
"Of course not! I would never dare hit you, no matter when! All right, it is late. Go back and rest!"
Henwell wipes the tears from his second son's face. "All right. Tomorrow I will make you a toy!"
Henwell sends the mother and son out of the study. Seeing that Henwell has returned to normal, the people waiting outside let out a long breath.
Before leaving, Melissa turns back and scolds him. "Clean up the study yourself later. No one is allowed to help him. What kind of bad habit is this?"
"Next time, are you planning to tear down the whole house? As a leader, you must control your emotions."
"As a powerful professional, you should all the more master your emotions and master your spiritual power!"
"You lose control the moment something major happens. Is that how a monarch should behave?"
Henwell smiles apologetically. "Yes, yes, yes! Madam is right. I will reflect on myself properly. There will absolutely not be a next time!"
After coaxing Melissa and Hunter away, Henwell walks to the study window.
He says to the people waiting outside, "All of you, go back and rest! Tomorrow at ten, meeting in the council hall!"
Then Henwell looks at the ruined study. "Dalton, have someone clean this up!"
Dalton says awkwardly, "Madam said just now that you have to clean it yourself!"
Henwell glares at her. "She has already gone back to sleep. Who would know? Are you planning to tell on me?"
Dalton and the others pretend not to hear and each return to their patrols.
Henwell has no choice but to clean up by himself.
After a while, Henwell looks toward a corner. "Were you all right just now?"
Kleios walks out and signs, "I am fine. The moment I discovered my lord's condition was wrong, I ran."
Henwell says irritably, "If you are fine, why are you just standing there? Help me clean up!"
Kleios says, "I am mute, not deaf. I also heard what Madam ordered just now."
Henwell rolls his eyes and can only lower his head and continue tidying the study.
After roughly cleaning up, Henwell sits on the only surviving chair and frowns as he thinks about his earlier state.
Just now, it wasn't spiritual rampage. It was body rampage.
Because his spiritual power had fluctuated violently, he temporarily lost control over his body.
Every part of his body seemed to have developed its own consciousness and begun fighting him for control of itself.
That almost scares Henwell to death. What kind of body-snatching horror is this?
As Henwell withdrew his spiritual power and concentrated on suppressing the bodily rebellion, a balance gradually formed.
Originally, that balance would have had to last for a long time before Henwell could gain the upper hand.
But because Melissa and Hunter entered, his body sensed the continuation of his bloodline.
His own body actually wanted to devour his child!
How can he allow that?
Never doubt the spiritual power a husband and father can erupt with when his wife and child are threatened.
Henwell suppresses the bodily rebellion almost instantly, and his soul and spirit once again lock down his body.
Henwell raises both hands and studies them carefully.
Is this the Gene Lock?
After opening the shackles of the body, one must possess a sufficiently strong spiritual will and a sufficiently tenacious soul to control it.
Otherwise, the body will become the master.
In the end, it will turn into a powerful monster that has lost consciousness and reason.
Henwell lets out a long breath. Fortunately, he has his wife and child. Otherwise, he would have been finished.
This is truly a powerful, yet terrifying, power system.
Henwell can sense that his body has broken through a boundary. From now on, he only needs time and tempering before he can step into Glory Rank.
That time will be as little as two or three years, and at most it won't exceed ten.
At that point, he will fully enter Glory Rank.
Thinking of this, Henwell's mood finally improves a little.
But afterward, Henwell begins thinking about Vorry Kingdom.
Henwell goes out, takes another map, and studies it carefully through the entire night.
The next day, Peace Haven's high-level meeting begins.
Henwell briefly explains the situation, and everyone immediately looks toward Chick, the director of the Military Intelligence Office.
As the head of the intelligence organization, it is simply unbelievable that such a major matter had to be brought to their attention by an outsider.
Chick rises and says, "The reason we received no information is that our intelligence stations on every side were precisely sealed off."
"There is a traitor among us. I will deal with this person. From now on, I will personally command every operation."
Henwell says, "Can the person be caught? Do you need my assistance?"
Chick gives a bitter smile. "My lord, I truly didn't know about this matter."
"As deputy director of the Military Intelligence Office, Meredith has the authority to do many things."
"She was originally responsible for building the intelligence stations inside Vorry, and she often works in the field, so she understands the front line very well."
"I have already received news that she is on her way back. She has handed over all of her authority and will soon turn herself in."
Henwell nods. "I know you truly didn't know about this."
"If you had done it, it would certainly have been even more hidden. I probably would have had trouble discovering it even afterward."
Chick understands the implication in Henwell's words. "My lord, this is my responsibility. After this, I will resign from the position of director of the Military Intelligence Office!"
"Right now, with a great war imminent, I must remain in this position and play my role. It isn't mature enough to replace me with someone else for the time being."
Henwell waves a hand. "We will talk about that later!"
