Chapter 5-8 - The Idol And The Battlefield
8 - Needy Soulful Acclamation
“Okay, Kouhai~!” Yuuka cheered with a truly joyful smile.
The three strike force members glanced at the soulful with awe. They weren’t intimidated or disappointed, they were just confused.
“Yuuka, listen carefully.” Zawadski said. “I’ll get Captain’s body out of here. Once I give you the signal, you’ll go all out.”
“Got-cha!” Yuuka said.
“Good luck. Don’t spare them.” Zawadski said, quickly running out of the area. He rushed towards the captain’s body.
“Get your ass back here!” Danny yelled. He pointed the gun at Zawadski, but couldn’t pull the trigger.
“Gun violence?” Yuuka asked, as a barrier-like wall appeared in front of the gun’s barrel. “That’s sad. That’s disgusting, too.” She got her phone out of her uniform’s pocket. “Dear kitties, I want to formally renounce gun violence and assure you that I would never do such despicable things. Like shooting Kouhai for example!”
“Ah, everyone’s asking about when the newest stream is gonna be. Oh no, I don’t have the heart to tell them I’m still on the frontlines...” Yuuka said. “They’ll hate me. They’ll think I’m up to no good!”
“It’s all your fault!” Yuuka pointed at the three. “It’s your fault that all those cuties are deprived of a wonderful little stream. Honestly, I hope you all die.”
“The issue with Yuuka is that her shenanigans affect everything and everyone indiscriminately.” Zawadski thought, grabbing Zervos’ body and leaving the battlefield. “Especially when she’s ruthless.”
“She’s both our trump card and our last resort.”
“I’m already late. My schedule is never going to recover from this, and it’s all your fault.” Yuuka grunted. “Kouhai wants me to keep you busy for a little bit. So you’ll have to take the long route.”
“Ugh, Kouhai is making me socialize again!” Yuuka sighed. She spoke pretty fast, and the more she did, the more the soul prowess ramped up. “He only does that when he wants to annoy me. I hate all of that corny stuff, I much rather talk to my kitties like any sane person would.”
She clapped her hands.
“ ✦ Connect ✦ ”
It felt as if the air itself was covered by a layer of strange pinkish paint. The area surrounding the parking building was covered with that strange essence, it radiated with a strange and overwhelming type of soul prowess.
“Enjoy the show, assholes!” Zawadski said, grinning while glancing back at the area. “I’ve swapped her medications with mint candy!”
“She probably doesn’t even take them anyways...”
“All my kitties are very loyal and supportive of me. If they ever found out that you’re hurting me like this, they’d eat you alive.” Yuuka said, sounding a bit more sad.
“What the fuck is she talking about?” Danny asked himself, unloading the gun into the ground and reloading it again. She pointed it at Yuuka.
“Hey! What did I tell you about gun violence?!” Yuuka yelled. From the pinkish air around them, a small pale blue tentacle materialized, grabbing his arm and breaking it. “To think that you’d never learn your lesson...why is everyone always like this? I’m trying to help you out, and I’m trying to maintain my own good appearance.”
“Captain...” Victoria said, scared.
“Do not ask me about what is going on.” Klaus sighed. He charged at Yuuka, but his advance, again, was blocked off by a barrier-like blue wall. It had a large red stop symbol painted over it.
Yuuka looked at him and scoffed.
“What do you want from me, old geezer? Are you a creep? Get the hell away from me! Kitties, protect me from this creep! He’s probably a hater anyways!”
A small blue puddle emerged next to her feet. The tiny entities that were swimming in it quickly wrapped themselves around Yuuka’s fists. Dispelling the barrier, she charged in and shoved her fist into Klaus’ stomach.
“Hayah! Kitty punch!”
Klaus was sent flying and crashed into the wall behind him, leaving a large crack on it. He looked out of breath and shocked at the sheer power of that attack. His comrades were also confused, and slowly, fear began growing amidst them.
A small light blue puddle emerged behind Klaus and started surrounding him. Klaus tried to break away from it, but the sets of teeth sharply grabbing at his skin and munching away were a rather painful experience. He only got out of the trap thanks to Victoria’s assistance.
“Ugh, I don’t feel like doing this anymore...” Yuuka said. “I wanna go home. Jian was sad, and the captain was really badly wounded...”
Danny, with his other arm, fired his piercing round at Yuuka. It penetrated her stomach.
“Victoria, kill this...thing before it does anything unexpected.” Danny said, turning to face Klaus. “Commander, are you alright?”
“How dare she?!” Klaus thought, taking a stance again.
He dashed at Yuuka with incredible speeds, but he tripped on his way there. The blue mass created a small obstacle that caused him to roll over and slam his face into the asphalt.
“Pwah! That was amazing!” Yuuka burst laughing, her mood changing almost instantly. “Oh, the kitties are gonna love it! Hey, are you trying to entertain your fans too? You’re doing a great job!”
“Go to hell!” Klaus said, slowly getting up. He concentrated and dashed in again, but was met with a quick jab to his face.
“You shouldn’t repeat the same joke multiple times, unless it's directly tied to your character or franchise.” Yuuka explained. “If you try different things and still keep embarrassing yourself, it’ll be even funnier!”
Her wound had already healed up, the blue mass acted as a bandage. Victoria prepared a pair of red flowers, as a small ring of fire was created at her feet.
“Oh, look at you...you’re pretty, aren’t you?” Yuuka said with a cold voice. “All dressed up with your make-up, trying to look cool in front of the cameras...you’re trying to steal my kitties away from me, aren’t you?! That’s what the case is with bitches like you.”
“You just can’t contain yourself from trying to steal another girl’s followers!” Yuuka said, charging at her. “I’m their idol, do you understand?! They’re mine! They’re only mine!”
Before Victoria could even protect herself, she was met with a right hook that cracked her jawn open. The left body shot broke some of her ribs, and a push-kick slammed her into the same wall where Klaus was thrown. Yuuka closed the distance again and punched Victoria in the gut with all her might.
“My kitties love it when there’s drama, especially when I’m the one kicking ass!” Yuuka yelled. Victoria coughed up blood. She tried to reach for her bag, but Yuuka ripped it away and threw it across the place.
“Danny! Help!” Victoria said, air barely escaping out of her throat.
“What the hell am I supposed to do?!” Danny said. He fired his transmission round at Yuuka and grabbed her. It was probably the only wrong decision to make in that situation.
“What did I say against no guns?!” Yuuka yelled at him. The blue mass fully surrounded her fist, and Yuuka struck her with a powerful right overhand that almost knocked him out cold.
“Do you not know how stressful this is? Every single move I make, my kitties are watching me! And I don’t want them to leave me! If they get angry and bored, they leave me!” Yuuka lashed out. Klaus dashed in again, but was knocked away by the blue mass. “All over the world, millions of kitties know who I am, and they all think about me all the time, or maybe they don’t even do that! They only remember me when they need to entertain themselves or vent to someone through donations or jerk off!”
Victoria mustered all her strength and used the dull color of the concrete walls to form a large spike that knocked Yuuka away. She was caught off guard, and the attack left a pretty bad wound on her stomach.

“What the hell is up with her strength?!” Danny asked, he was already scared to aim his gun at her.
“It’s growing. I...have no clue.” Victoria said. She got her bag back and applied leaves to herself and her allies.
“What is she doing now?” Klaus asked.
“I’m sorry, kitties...” Yuuka said. Tears started escaping her eyes. “I failed you guys again. I was so scared of this happening...”
“I’ll understand if you decide to never watch me ever again. I’m boring, and I’m ugly, and I’m unfunny...and I’m a wreck...”
“She’s not ugly!” Danny thought. She took a few steps back in caution. The blue mass transformed into a small cat plushie that Yuuka hugged dearly.
“There’s so many bad things going on in this world, and both with myself. No, actually, I dare act like this when there’s so many bad things happening around the world...” Yuuka sobbed. “All my kitties around the world have gone through worse things. I feel like I don’t deserve to be where I am.”
“Let’s read the comments, they hate me, don’t they? They all wish I died. They don’t see me as anything other than a waste of time...”
“Who is she even talking to?” Victoria whispered. “I’ve heard that the Heisei are a bunch of monsters, but this...”
“To think that she’d be this strong as well...” Klaus said. “But right now, she looks no different from a defenseless child.”
“She’s not defenseless.” Danny said. “We need to get the fuck out of here.”
“My kitties can be the worst. I hate them sometimes.” Yuuka sighed. “Let’s see...”
> “Goth babe got fraud checked”
> “Damn wtf was that??”
> “LOL she punched that old man back to the retirement home.”
> “Show boobs”
> “YUUKA!!!!!”
> “Can someone gift me a sub pls”
> “God loves you and God blesses you, come under his guidance and he will forgive you for your sins. Amen.”
“They’re pretty regular...wait, there’s a longer one?”
> “Hey Yuuka, your livestreams helped me through a really tough time. I lost my friend the other day and watching you really got my mood back up and convinced me to keep going. Thanks!”
> “Yuuka, you motivated me to ask my crush out, and he said yes!!! We’ve been dating for a month now and he’s the best boy ever! Thanks, love you!”
> “I was really close to taking my own life, I decided to spend one last day at my computer, and I remembered that I followed you. Your stream saved my life. I laughed so much it made me remember there’s still good things in life.”
“Ah, right...my kitties didn’t leave me.”
“I love them so much.”
“I can’t live without them.”
She checked her phone again. Her socials were blowing up with support from all of her loyal fans. They wished for her to be safe, they protested the war, and all they really wanted was to just make sure their idol was alright.
There was hate there too, and no matter how much Yuuka pretends she’s desensitized to it, it can still get under her skin at times. But she still felt happy. She had a sense of duty.
“After discovering that I can make people smile, no matter how much I cried or broke down myself...”
“I made it my mission to make sure my kitties are happy and looked after.”
“All over the world, my kitties rely on me to be their gateway from all the bad things. Especially now.”
“The validation and love they show to me is what keeps me going.”
“It’s an ecstasy-like drug that fuels me to wake up another day. I’d be long gone without it.”
“And I always want more of it.”
A new message popped up on her phone. They were from Zawadski, and they were just a few simple simple words. “We’re far. Go for it! You got this!”
She smiled reading the message.
“She’s checking her phone? Is she requesting backup?” Danny asked.
“Something’s off.” Klaus grunted.
“And my biggest kitties need the most care. Captain, Kouhai, Jian, and the new boy.” Yuuka finally smiled, and slowly stood back up.
“For as long as I live, I’ll take care of them.”
”Amongst the entire Heisei, I’m the one with the least amount of combat participation.” Yuuka said with a determined smirk. “And yet, I’m the one with the highest success percentage.”
“And you think I’m just a crazy and uncontrollable tool? A frail little girl who lost her mind? I’m considered the single most dangerous soulful out there.”
“Honestly, who the hell do you think I am?”
“My kitties are loving the stream so far, there’s stakes, drama, emotions, actions...and there’s their adorable idol which makes them smile when they need it the most.” Yuuka continued. “But I know they want more.”
She pushed a small button attached to her collar.
Across D.C., every single member of the Heisei had one of their uniforms’ sleeves make a sharp beeping noise, paired with a small green light. The secondary division’s members were surprised by it, Jian looked at it with concern, Ichigo with curiosity, and Zawadski with a smile.
“Making these things was the best decision we ever made.”
“I’m thankful that before Yuuka goes all out, she’s required to release a signal to every other Heisei fighter for the duration of five seconds. Everyone is alerted. And if her own bracelet light is also green, that means there’s no one around her.”
“And it’s an absolute necessity. I don’t think any of us would survive if we got caught up in that. It’s what keeps us safe from the strongest single attack of the Heisei.”
“Good luck out there, Yuuka.”
“I almost feel bad for those three.”
And as such, Yuuka noticed the green light. Her soul presence flared to its maximum, and the strike force’s fighters were engulfed with fear. She was ecstatic. She danced and posed as if she was on an idol stage.
“ ✦ Heads up, kitties! It’s time for a special announcement! ✦ ”
“ ✦ Divine Acclamation... ✦ ”
“ ✦ DIGITAL OVERDOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ✦ ”
A blindingly bright flashbang instantly devoured the entire area. It had no other effect on the environment - everything was reset back to normal, in fact. The pinkish shade lingering in the air was gone.
But the Adler Group’s fighters would be subject to an especially cruel death.
“What...”
“What the fuck is this?”
“WHAT IS THIS?!”
Danny’s eyes were seeing countless images at once. Thousands of different online threads, hundreds of flashing memes, and dozens of loud opinions being voiced all at once. He crouched down and screamed, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t release himself from that prison.
“An overwhelming amount of corrosive information.” Zawadski smiled, covering his eyes from the flash. From his distance, he was safe from that disaster.
“The equivalent of the entirety of the internet being shoved into your brain.”
“It gets so bad that the brain starts physically giving up.”
“STOP IT!!!” Victoria yelled, holding her head. She crouched down from the indescribably awful headache and even banged her head against the asphalt. Her eyes were starting to bleed profusely, so were her ears.
The first one to go, however, was the captain himself. He was an old head, unaware of the modern world and barely familiar with the internet. What he saw, all those flashing colors and strange texts and voices, didn’t just poison him - they shocked him. Just a few seconds of exposure to the acclamation resulted in a dying brain.
Danny screamed in pain. He unloaded his revolver into the ground, not even caring what or who it hit. One of the bullets even flew at the captain - it just happened to be the explosive round which blasted his arm into pieces and confirmed his death.
Danny had trouble reloading the gun while screaming. He tried to shove the bullets into the chamber multiple times and failed, until finally, he loaded the gun back up. He pointed it himself and fired the regenerative round at himself.
But nothing happened.
“What...?”
“No...nonononononono....”
“I can’t...I can’t... I can’t...fucking...HANDLE THIS!” Danny yelled. The next round just so happened to be the piercing round, he thought that once he patched himself back up, he would shoot Yuuka in the head and be done with it. He still fired a shot, but not at Yuuka. He pointed the gun at his own hand and made his death significantly less painful.
“YOU SELFISH ASSHOLE, WHY DIDN’T YOU SHOOT ME FIRST?!” Victoria yelled. She screamed as hard as she physically could, but nothing could be changed. From the outside, she looked like she was screaming at nothing next to two corpses. From the inside, however, she was experiencing a headache that would break even the most pain-tolerant people.
After a few more seconds, her throat gave up. Blood started pouring out of her eyes, and she felt like she couldn’t even conjure up a single thought. All she saw was Yuuka slowly approaching her, and the last thing she felt was fear. She collapsed on the ground.
And just like that, with one release, half of Otto’s forces total forces were wiped out, courtesy of the Heisei’s ultimate ace - Yuuka Hoshikawa.
“Yippee! The coast is clear!” Yuuka said into her earpiece. “Three down :3”
“Good job, Yuuka.” Jian smiled. It made her feel a little better and recover from her failure. “Everyone’s busy or wounded, Yuuka’s tired...I can still fight. I’ll regroup with Ichigo.”
“Three down with one shot...” Sakuto told Oskar, who was also surprised. “And you guys call me a monster.”
“So what’s the plan now?” Oskar asked.
“Right now? We keep Ryan and Stella safe.”
