Second Choice Noble Son: Apparently I’m Stronger Than the Summoned Heroes

Lore Addendum — The Name That History Forgot

Long before the Age of Corruption, the goddess of life and roots was known as Mara

the Heart of the Living Vein, guardian of the balance between life and decay.

She was not gentle by nature.

Mara was a goddess of growth through struggle, of rebirth through pain.

Her power was raw and practical, not the ethereal elegance the elves preferred to worship.

To mortals, she was the pulse beneath the soil.

To the elves, she was simply too real.

When the Corruption swallowed the world, Mara vanished.

Every scripture that spoke her name was buried, burned, or rewritten.

The elves — desperate to preserve beauty in loss — remade her image.

They renamed her Elandriel, the Mother of Renewal, a sanctified echo of the truth.

Where Mara had been fierce and earthy, Elandriel became delicate and celestial.

Her stories shifted from the grit of soil and blood to songs of light and purity.

It was not malice — just fear.

Generations of scholars polished the myth until even her harshness became legend. Googlᴇ search novęlfire.net

The few who remembered the truth — those who had walked beside Mara — died or disappeared.

Only Elandra survived.

Elandra never corrected them.

She believed that perhaps the world needed the soft lie more than the hard truth.

Now, ages later, Mara lives again — reborn as Maori, rooted in the Borderlands through Rooga’s bond.

And for the first time since the corruption, her true name has a heartbeat again.

But to the elves, it will be a shock beyond faith.

To them, Elandriel is myth — a poetic story for children.

They never imagined their goddess could return not as a radiant figure of purity…

but as the earthy, sarcastic, stubborn goddess Mara, reborn as Maori.
