Basic Thaumaturgy for the Emotionally Incompetent

Important Rewrite Announcement

Let me be clear. This rewrite will NOT mean I’ll stop writing chapters for this book. The content of the book isn’t a problem; the structure is. Posting will slow down, but I’ll release at least one chapter a week and try to release two if possible.

The reason why I’m rewriting this book:

  1. I’m not happy with my lack of structural planning for this version. Backfilling chapters is distracting for readers and I want to provide a more streamlined experience.
  2. It’s too bloating. Scenes can be cut by 20%. Sometimes less is more.
  3. I’m also not happy with Fabrisse’s progression rate. It’s something I’m amending in the second book, but I should’ve done this earlier. He spends too much time dilly-dallying, and while that’s fine, I could’ve made the dilly-dallying worth the gain.
  4. I’m not happy with how the system is represented. It pops up too often and gets too convoluted at times. I might think about simplifying the magic system a bit as well, but not so much that it loses its, well, magic.
  5. I need to repackage content to ensure solid progression in the main storyline. Side-stories like adventures with Severa are fun, but ultimately unnecessary. They’ll be Patreon-exclusive content in the new version.
  6. People tell me to not bother with rewrites, but I love this world I’ve created so much to let it go. The content has never been a problem. I believe we have something special here and we just need some tweaking.
My new book Maximum Intimidation Knight is doing all the things I should have been doing, and it’s set to be my biggest success. With some planning, I think this is achievable with Thaumaturgy. I’ll be writing the rewrite in tandem with the new chapters, and they’ll be Patreon-exclusive content, to however few patrons there are lul. Thanks for your support.
