Angelic rescue
I got through an additional twenty pieces of paperwork before I was given an impromptu echo call.
"My father told me about what you said and wants me to find out what records you have and delete them while stealing your corporations secrets. I can't deny him but I can stall him." Angel said seriously.
This made me raise an eyebrow "That's awfully forthright of you. I assume you want something for this?" I said intrigued.
"After "the incident" I have been held prisoner, enslaved to put it bluntly by my father. It wasn't that bad at first as even in his own twisted and broken way he cares about me but he's not the man he was before Helios. He's turned into a monster and needs to be stopped." she said seriously.
I nod following along easily enough "Yeah I get that but, and you'll excuse me here, what the fuck does that have to do with me? Better yet. What does that have to do with this conversation?" I asked casually.
"He's afraid of you, afraid of you coming after him. And he's right to be afraid. We documented your growth rate on Pandora. Calling you an existential threat to the universe would not be inaccurate if you stopped holding back." she said with no small measure of awe.
"I have a cult if I want flattery, get to the point." I said firmly.
"The point is that you can get away with doing something he REALLY won't like, freeing me." she said almost like just saying the words took serious effort on her part.
"Alright." I said without hesitation.
"I know you'll, wait really? That easily?" she asked stunned.
"First off i'm offended. Second off I want your powers, obviously. And third I'm not okay with the idea of enslavement as a whole, consider me old fashioned like that but it's a step too much for my tastes. Don't get me wrong I'm not some moral paragon that'll wipe it out where I find it but this time it also helps me out so why wouldn't I help?" I said with a grin.
"It seems my entire prepared list of rewards aren't necessary. That's kind of annoying actually." she said almost disappointed.
I shrugged "I'm very easy to motivate. Also don't go forgetting how valuable your siren trait is to me. You know being kinda key to me becoming a complete god and all. Speaking of how we do this rescue jig anyhow?" I asked curiously.
"It'll be tricky, he's got me locked in a state of the art secure facility with heavy defenses and many restraints in me to keep me under his control. Even just contacting you like this is risky. I'm in the mountain of Thousand cuts, dead center deep under the ground with only one official way in. This is my chamber." she said sending me a walled camera view of the room she was in.
The chamber was wide but fully mechanical with several glowing purple pipes flowing refined Eridium to the floating girl in the center of the chamber. Just at a glance I saw signal dampeners, several bot spawning devices and enough sensors to make even a paranoid person think it excessive.
"He's pumping that much Eridium into you? Why? Theres no way in hell he doesn't know what that will do to you right?" I asked with a frown.
"That's why he's doing it. I need the Eridium to survive and he's the only source of it I have. Additionally he intends for me to charge the vault key once he obtains it." she said bitterly.
"That guy really is hopeless if he'd be willing to do a thing like this to his own daughter despite knowing it's a dead end path. I'll need to prepare a bit if we want you to survive extracting you from the flow of Eridium without killing you. Is that fine?" I asked seriously.
"It might be better to let me die. He'll never let me go and will hunt me down regardless of costs." she says resigned.
"Nonsense! If i'm freeing you then i'm ACTUALLY freeing you. As for him hunting you down I doubt that will be a problem once you are actually free. Honestly he shot himself in the foot here. While it's true Eridium makes a normal siren dependent on it to survive it also expands the limits of their powers. With the amount of the stuff he's been pumping into you once I kick off that dependency your powers will likely be almost on the same scale as my own naturally. Forget localized effects you might even be able to effect an entire planet once fully unleashed." I said seriously.
"What does that have to do with me being hunted?" she asked confused.
"Use your imagination a bit and then imagine you lived in a metropolis surrounded by technology and then see if you have to ask again." I said with a grin and she seemed to understand exactly what I meant.
"I'd be untouchable." she said almost in shock.
"Yep, so long as the order is capture and not kill at all costs in a city you'd be nigh invincible. The really tricky part though is nixing that nasty dependency before it can kill you. At your current level it's not gonna be easy." I said seriously.
"How?" she asked interested.
"Well first I'm going to need to pump lifeforce into you near constantly from the moment you are disconnected. A fucking assload of lifeforce really. After that we have to escape the no doubt extreme amount of pursuing forces he's gonna send. My house will be good here as I can teleport us back to Promethea. The next bit's gonna be less fun as we'll need to get those bits of tech out of you without killing you. Then I need to bring your body to it's peak state and slowly allow you to ween off the dependency as your body readjusts to being without it. Not gonna sugar coat it, you are going to wish I let you die before it's over. Like a drug fiend forced to detox but dozens of times worse." I said seriously.
"But i'll be free at the end right?" she asked hopeful.
"Yep, no strings on you anymore and enough power to declare yourself a goddess if you wanted to. Not a terrible trade off in my opinion but i'm biased so maybe take that with a few grains of salt." I said honestly.
