Not a Chap - Should I scrap the supernatural elements from the story?
Hey everyone!
Pretty self-explanatory title, but I've seen quite a bit of negative feedback regarding the supernatural elements of the story so far, so I wanted to get your opinion on things. It can sometimes be hard for an author to figure out whether it's the majority of the readership that's against a certain aspect of the story or just a loud minority.
For some context, I didn't really plan to introduce supernatural happenings when I began the novel, which is why it's advertised the way it is. There was always the supernatural element of Theodorus's arrival into the world, and how exactly it happened, which I wanted to explain rather than just wave away (because I don't enjoy loose ends haha). But things kind of grew with the story, and when I was drafting the plotlines for various characters in Books 4 and 5, I had some ideas to make the story more interesting and how explore different topics and storylines, and leaning into this aspect enabled me to do things I wouldn't otherwise.

As you might expect, I quite enjoy writing those scenes, and I find them interesting (otherwise I wouldn't write them haha). However, if there's an overwhelming opinion on the matter, I wouldn't be against scrapping them and handwaving the whole thing, so I'll leave a poll on both Patreon and NovelPhoenix to see what you guys think.
I think I've kept a fairly clear boundary by only using the supernatural elements for drama and to create interesting conflicts, especially for Theodorus and Cassandra. I've also noticed a correlation between readers who enjoy the drama not minding the supernatural elements, while those who are here primarily for the kingdom-building seem to mostly detest them so I'll leave a poll for that as well.
Anyways, drop your thoughts down below. I can appreciate that many of you might have quite strong opinions on the topic, so go ahead. I just ask that you keep your feedback constructive and respectful. Also for those on RR, keep in mind that the changes won't be seen until you catch up to Patreon, which is 20 chaps ahead.
Thank you for your support as always!
