The Legendary Method Actor

Chapter 327: The Send-Off Committee

The morning sun had barely begun to cast its golden light over the Spire of Sages when Ray finally exhaled a long, measured breath, opening his eyes.

He had spent the final hours of the night in deep meditation, meticulously cycling the Ashvane Method through his core. The violent, ravenous drain caused by the Magic Vessel had left his Aether reserves critically low, but the cultivation technique had helped recover his aether back to its peak. He felt whole again, his core pulsing with a familiar, heavy vitality.

Curious to see where he stood after the chaotic events of the past few months, Ray issued a silent command.

System. Display Status.

A translucent blue window chimed into existence, illuminating the dim quarters.

[HOST STATS - Age: 13]

[Strength: 32 / 56 (Peer Average: 14)]

[Agility: 29 / 52 (Peer Average: 13)]

[Note: Muscle density and efficiency have been optimized by the Aetheric reforging. Host now possesses lean, deceptive strength and agility.]

[Stamina: 33 / 64 (Peer Average: 16)]

[Note: Flawless energy circulation allows for incredible endurance. Host can now sustain physical exertion far beyond his peers.]

[Constitution: 64 / 64 (Peer Average: 16)]

[Note: Continued cultivation via the 'Ashvane Method' has further fortified the host's physiology. Resilience is now far beyond peer-level norms.]

[Life-Force Capacity: 226 / 226 (Peer Average: 28)]

[Current Status: Aetheric Leak (SEALED)]

Ray analyzed the numbers with a critical eye. While there was no increase to his maximum Life-Force capacity, the increase in his physical attributes brought a satisfied smirk to his face. He knew exactly where the increase came from. It was from his daily training, the Main Qualifier Tournament for the Azure Cup, The brutal week training he had with Darian, The recent encounter at the Starr Manor, had forged his body as efficiently as any cultivation technique.

He was deceptively strong for his age, with plenty of room left to grow. Satisfied with his baseline, Ray dismissed the status window with a wave of his hand and stood up, ready to finally head home.

When he stepped out of his private quarters and into the suite’s main living area, the smell of roasted meats and seasoned eggs greeted him. Rina was bustling around the dining table, setting out plates for breakfast.

Ray stopped and studied his attendant. She had noticeable, dark shadows under her eyes, a clear indicator of a severe lack of sleep. Yet, despite the exhaustion, she was practically vibrating with a restless, infectious excitement. Today was the day they were going back home to Greywood Domain.

Ray decided not to say anything about her lack of sleep, merely shaking his head in quiet amusement. It seemed she had stayed up late into the night meticulously packing and sorting her mountain of gifts, much like he had stayed up experimenting with his new artifacts.

"Good morning, young master!"

Rina chirped, pouring a steaming cup of tea.

"Good morning, Rina."

Ray replied, taking a seat at the head of the table.

As if summoned by the clinking of silverware, a sleek shadow detached itself from the corner of the room. Nox, the void-malkin, materialized with a demanding trill and immediately climbed up the leg of the table, sitting expectantly near Ray’s plate, fully intent on getting his share of the morning feast.

They had just finished the hearty breakfast when a sharp knock echoed from the door.

Rina hurried over and pulled it open to reveal Svane. The towering Gold Aegis was fully geared up for travel. He wore his heavy Gold Aegis armor, a thick travel cloak draped over his broad shoulders, and carried his massive shield strapped securely to his back.

"Have you eaten, Svane? There is plenty left."

Rina offered warmly.

"I have already eaten, thank you.”

Svane replied with a polite but stoic nod, stepping into the room. He turned his attention to Ray.

“My Lord , the carriage has been arranged and is currently waiting for us outside the Academy demi-plane exit."

Svane reported.

"Excellent work, Svane. Give us a moment to change."

Ray acknowledged.

Before getting dressed, Ray tapped his Custodian Crest to check for any final correspondence. The small crest flared to life, projecting a short message from Eliza.

Eliza: Send me a message when you are heading to the gates. I want to see you off and deliver the package you requested.

The 'package' was, of course, the staggering sum of one hundred thousand Gold Crowns he had exchanged from his academy marks, he had asked Eliza to arrange this for him.. Ray tapped a quick reply into the Crest.

Ray: We are finishing up here. We will be at the demi-plane exit in an hour.

As the message was sent, Ray realized there was one more person he needed to inform. Kaelen.

He instinctively went to browse his contact list on his Custodian Crest, but his finger paused over the glowing crystal. He remembered the fundamental limitation of the Academy's communication artifacts. The Custodian Crests and standard student medallions relied heavily on the ambient magical infrastructure of the Academy; they only functioned when both users were anchored within the same demi-plane network.

Because Kaelen was currently far to the north, embedded in a task force in the outside world, her medallion was completely cut off from the signal. She would only see the message once she is back in the academy demi-plane.

He would have to do it the old-fashioned way.

Ray walked back over to his study desk, pulled out a crisp sheet of parchment and his enchanted silver quill. He quickly drafted a brief but sincere letter. He informed her that he was leaving the academy for a while and will be going home. He reminded her to be careful on her dangerous assignment, and promised that he would return to the academy before the Azure Cup commenced.

He folded the parchment neatly, sealed it with a drop of blue wax, and tucked it into his coat pocket. He planned to hand it over to Eliza at the gate.

With his affairs in order, Ray and Rina retreated to change. They traded their crisp, formal Solhaven Academy uniforms for sturdy travel clothes designed for the long, unpredictable roads of the kingdom.

An hour later, the trio arrived at the grand, shimmering archway that served as the primary exit for the Academy's demi-plane.

Ray expected to see Eliza waiting with a few attendants. What he didn't expect was a small committee waiting for them. Eliza stood near a small transport cart, flanked by Cassian, who offered a wide grin, and Master Elias, who looked characteristically grumpy.

Before Ray could even greet them, Cassian’s grin faltered, his eyes bulging as he looked past Ray. Svane looked less like an elite soldier and more like an armored pack mule. The Gold Aegis was effortlessly balancing an impossible mountain of boxes, frost-silk garment bags, and parcels, while Rina fluttered around him, carefully carrying a few bags of her own.

"By the Founders, Ray, are you returning to the Greywood Domain, or are you just migrating the entire Merchant District with you?"

Eliza let out a sharp, highly amused laugh, her eyes scanning the volume of goods.

"I am sure the merchants in the Merchant District all have their quarterly sales spiked so drastically."

Rina blushed, hiding behind one of her parcels, while Svane merely offered a stoic, unapologetic shrug beneath his mountain of boxes.

Master Elias, however, completely ignored the absurd luggage.

"Leaving without even a proper goodbye, boy?"

Master Elias grumbled, marching forward and immediately lightly thumping Ray on the back of the head with his knuckles.

Ray winced, rubbing his head as he offered an apologetic smile.

"I didn't want to disturb your research, Master Elias. Besides, I will not be gone for long. I'll be back before you even notice my absence."

"Nonsense. Of course I will notice, well in this case it was Cassian that told me but you are still in the wrong for not saying goodbye, end of discussion!”

Elias scoffed, though the faint twitch of a smile betrayed his gruff tone.

Rina offered Ray a pitying look, Cassian laughed out loud at the display, and Svane simply stood like a mountain, silently observing the eccentric group.

Cassian stepped forward next, pulling a small, polished brass object from his pocket. He held it out to Ray.

"For your journey, Ray."

Cassian said sincerely.

Ray took the object. It was a finely crafted arcane compass, but the needle glowed with a faint, steady blue light.

"I had modified the lodestone myself. No matter where you travel on the Aethelguard continent, that needle will always point directly back to Solhaven City. I just wanted you to have something to remind you that you always have friends, and a home, waiting for you here."

Cassian explained, clasping Ray on the shoulder.

"Thank you, senior Cassian. I will treasure it."

Ray said graciously as he looked down at the glowing compass, genuinely touched by the thoughtful gesture.

"Alright, enough of the sentimental tears."

Eliza interrupted with a playful smirk. She gestured to the small transport cart behind her. Her two attendants were sweating profusely pulling it. Atop it sat a heavily reinforced iron chest.

"Your 'package,' my lord,"

Eliza announced with a smile.

“Thank you, lady Eliza.”

Ray responded appropriately with Eliza’s playful announcement.

Without a word Svane stepped forward, the towering Gold Aegis reached down, gripped the thick iron handles, and casually hefted the massive chest onto his broad shoulder as if it were filled with nothing but dry leaves. The two attendants stared at the warrior in shock, rubbing their pained lower backs.

Eliza chuckled at her attendants' bewilderment before turning back to Ray. She reached into her coat and pulled out a sleek, velvet-lined case, pressing it into his hands.

Ray opened the latch. Inside was a pristine, master-crafted set of Tinker's Tools, complete with enchanted magnifiers and precision-forged silver calipers.

"I know how restless you get. I figured you would need something to keep that brilliant mind of yours busy while you're stuck out in the countryside."

Eliza teased gently, her eyes softening.

"They are perfect. Thank you, Eliza."

Ray smiled, closing the case and slipping it into his bag of holding.

Before Ray could step back, Eliza closed the distance between them and threw her arms around him in a tight, warm hug. Ray froze in surprise for a fraction of a second before gently returning the embrace.

"I am going to miss you, Ray."

Eliza whispered softly near his ear.

"I will miss you too."

Ray replied.

As they finally parted from the hug, Ray remembered something. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the folded parchment sealed with blue wax.

"Actually, Eliza, could I ask you for one more favor?"

Ray asked, holding out the letter.

"Could you deliver this to Headmaster Andrade? Tell her it is a letter for Kaelen. She will understand and take care of the rest."

Eliza immediately crossed her arms and pouted, looking incredibly wronged.

"Why do I have to be the messenger? Why not ask Senior Cassian or Master Elias?"

Ray offered a helpless, apologetic smile.

"Because senior Cassian would be far too scared to casually approach the Headmaster's office, and Master Elias would stuff it in a pocket and completely forget it exists the second he looks at old world documents."

Cassian opened his mouth to protest, but quickly shut it, looking away guiltily. Master Elias merely grumbled under his breath, feeling highly indignant but entirely unable to retort because it was absolutely true.

Eliza let out a long sigh.

"Fine. Although I am also terrified to talk with the Headmaster, I will take care of it. But you owe me one, okay?"

"I owe you one."

Ray agreed helplessly with a nod.

Eliza's pout instantly vanished, replaced by a bright, triumphant smile as she took the letter from Ray's hand.

Having settled his final piece of business, Ray offered a final wave to his friends.

"We must be off. Take care of yourselves."

Ray, Rina, and Svane turned and began to walk toward the shimmering boundary of the exit portal.

"WAIT!"

A loud voice suddenly echoed through the courtyard.

Ray stopped and turned around. Master Elias was jogging toward them, his robes flapping wildly, frantically waving a thick roll of old, yellowed parchments in the air.

He caught up to them, slightly out of breath, and forcefully shoved the roll of parchments directly into Ray's chest.

"Almost forgot. Old-world documents. Found them in the deeper archives last night and the decryption cipher is a complete mess. I am stumped."

Elias huffed.

Ray looked down at the familiar, archaic script covering the pages. He remembered his days spent working in Elias's dusty office, decrypting old world texts with him.

"Work on it if you get bored on the road. If you manage to untangle the syntax and decrypt it for me, I will pay you handsomely upon your return."

Elias commanded, adjusting his spectacles.

Ray let out a long, heavy sigh, shaking his head at his Master's unapologetic, incurable workaholism. Even when sending his student home for a break, he was handing out work. Still, Ray couldn't suppress the fond smile that tugged at his lips.

"I will see what I can do, Master Elias. Thank you."

Ray responded.

With one final wave, the trio turned and stepped through the shimmering, magical barrier. The bright, ambient light of the Academy demi-plane instantly vanished, replaced by the dim, torch-lit stone of the transit hallway that connected to the physical realm of Solhaven City.
