Chapter 201 : The Ruler (8)
"I'm going to let that being into my body once."
Before arriving at the city of Krata, on top of the gargoyle Goe, Clay spoke to Athanasia, who was sitting behind him.
"What?"
Athanasia immediately reacted with astonishment.
"What does that mean?"
"I am not the only one in my body."
He had Crea within his body.
"The power of the Sun God also resides in me."
Even though he had returned to his former state, he was not the body of a pure Hero.
"In any case, Elhaen needs a medium to use his power on this land. Right now, that's Neville. His body will collapse over time, but there's a high chance we'll lose before that."
"So, what changes if you put him in your body?"
"I won't put him in."
"Huh?"
"I found out that I can create another space within my body using Crea's ability."
It was something he had learned as a result of trying to utilize Krata's remaining abilities somehow.
"I'm going to let Elhaen enter there. Make him think he has possessed my body."
"You..."
"Then, for a brief moment, Elhaen will be residing in an unstable dwelling. In that unstable moment, I plan to deliver a decisive blow."
"A decisive blow?"
Athanasia tilted her head anxiously. Clay said to her.
"Yes, a decisive blow."
"No, I know what you're thinking, but isn't that too dangerous?"
"We cannot win unless I use myself as bait."
He already knew well that Elhaen was that kind of being.
"So we must end it like this."
"But then your life will be in danger too."
"My life doesn't matter."
He wasn't truly living even if he was alive. Clay gave a bitter smile.
"I know I have things to be responsible for. But to take that responsibility, this is the only way."
Clay thought that was the method that suited him best.
"You just have to help me achieve it."
"What does that..."
"I've also told Selimia the plan. I don't know if she'll do as I intend."
"You."
"Athanasia, if Selimia hesitates, you must do it. You must seize the opportunity."
An opportunity.
And that opportunity was now created as Elhaen resided in Clay's body.
"Damn it!"
Athanasia, seeing Elhaen finally crawl into his vessel, raised her hand.
"You'd better not mess this up!"
A wave was generated from her hand and fell. Elhaen, who had a satisfied expression, was hit by the wave and his eyes widened for a moment.
"Keok?"
A tremor. Elhaen, who staggered greatly, muttered with a surprised expression.
"What is this?"
His mind was in turmoil. As if he hadn't properly settled into Clay's body.
"This is..., keuk?!"
At the sudden headache, Elhaen grabbed his head and collapsed.
"You, damn, bastard!"
Elhaen now realized that a separate space had been prepared within the body. An impossible feat under normal circumstances.
Elhaen realized who was involved in this act.
"Crea!"
The God of Creation.
He had prepared an extraordinary trap even in the physical body where a god would reside.
"How truly tiresome!"
Elhaen staggered to his feet.
"You are all so tiresome!"
He shouted, his eyes bloodshot.
"I gave you the chance to be part of the history of the gods! The chance to be with me, in the world I preside over!"
"How far will you run wild without knowing your place! I am the god of this world..."
An ice spear fell from above, onto him as he struggled to walk in his unstable state.
"Keok?"
The ice spear had, absurdly, pierced through his left chest.
"Wh-what?"
It was Clay's body. An unstable body, but one he could surely dominate with enough time.
If he held even a sliver of hope, he wouldn't be able to attack Clay's body, so Elhaen, despite screaming, had not been greatly anxious.
"No way."
But he had been attacked. And in a vital spot where Clay's body was bound to die.
Elhaen lifted his head. Selimia was looking down at him with a cold expression.
'The body is...'
Confirming his rapidly declining physical functions, Elhaen turned his eyes again.
Neville was there.
An unprecedented wrath filled Elhaen's face. It was all done. It was truly all over. And yet, was everything going to be ruined by such an absurd interference?
"You lowly creatures!"
Elhaen shouted, gritting his teeth.
"Do you think you can make this world yours by doing this?"
He would not die. If he was repelled from here, he would just return to where he originally was.
"If I cannot do it today, then in a hundred years, no, even in a thousand years, I will rule!"
That was his desire.
He walked towards where Neville was.
And then, before Clay's body could no longer move, he tried to move the circuits to return to Neville's body.
Although it was almost completely collapsed, Neville's body was protected by all sorts of blessings. Settling in again would be an instantaneous matter if he just went back.
"I will definitely..."
Just as Elhaen was about to cross over the circuits,
The remaining shell, that is, Clay, pulled out the ice spear embedded in his own chest and stabbed the circuit.
—What?
Then he drew the spear in a long line, severing all the circuits connecting him and Neville.
"El, haen!"
Clay was shouting, breathing heavily, in a body that should clearly be unable to move.
—How?
While Elhaen was panicking within the circuits, Selimia descended from above and landed.
"I made you think I had pierced the heart."
—!
Selimia said to the surprised Elhaen.
"I've stopped all the bleeding so no blood would burst out. By freezing it."
—You wretch!
"But I'm not the one who deceived you. It was Lord Clay."
Clay had truly acted with the resolve to die. Selimia had also carried out the act with such resolve.
Clay really didn't mind if he died.
"Elhaen, you too, must have been full of doubt."
He talked as if he knew everything, but in the end, he couldn't believe the result either.
"Because you wouldn't have known exactly, what kind of things, I was capable of."
—Clay...!
"Even if I avoided a vital spot for now, I won't last long in this state."
Clay said with a pale face.
"So I will end you here, Elhaen. Let's finally put an end to this tiresome fate, just as you said."
—Don't be ridiculous!
Simultaneously with Elhaen's cry, the circuits rose up.
—My time is not yet over! Even if I'm repelled from here, I will not die! So I will make you suffer as much as possible here! You foolish ones who do not understand the plan of a god, I will judge...
It was then.
Tia, who came running with her sword of light, cut a large swath through the circuits at once.
—!
Yuru created magic circles and burned the circuits, and,
Nael rushed in like a beast and tore the circuits apart.
—Aaaaaah!
Elhaen struck down at them with the circuits like a whip.
—Get lost! Just get lost!
The demons who had arrived in the meantime also attacked the circuits respectively. Elhaen, as if struggling, continued to swing the circuits and send the demons flying.
"Bea, trice?"
Where Clay's gaze was directed, there was Beatrice, crawling on the floor and raising her hand to the sky.
She was clearing away the shadow of the moon that was covering the sun.
At that, the sun mark on Clay's hand revealed its presence even more strongly.
『This is the chance.』
The Sun God finally conveyed his words to Clay.
『If we cut off his path of return, that being will also—.』
He couldn't hear to the end. It was not yet an environment where the voice could fully reach. But nevertheless, Clay understood his intention.
"Attack, now!"
Clay commanded everyone.
"Trample, tear, and burn! Just as this being did to this world...!"
At his command, those who heard it began to mercilessly destroy the circuits. Unable to properly reside anywhere, Elhaen let out a monstrous scream as if in a panic.
It was then.
Suddenly, the surroundings brightened.
"Huh?"
The demons looked up with surprised expressions.
"The sky?"
The shadow of the moon was almost completely gone.
—No!
A circuit suddenly rose up long. And something trying to escape from its end.
"Lin!"
Clay's shout, shot out at the same time.
Then,
"Uwaaaaaaaah!"
Lin, who was preparing magic circles nearby, shot her magic towards the remaining shadow of the moon.
KWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
The something flowing out from the end of the circuit immediately tried to turn back towards the shadow of the moon, but,
Paaat!
The eclipse ended.
—Ah.
The something that was trying to return, Elhaen, came back into the circuits.
—Aaaaaaaaaah!
Clay now realized that he was forcibly trapped within the circuits.
Puk! Kwajik! Kwaak!
The demons' attacks continued, and Elhaen, as if in a panic, continued to scream. In a voice truly unbecoming of a god.
Like the voice of a great beast, from outside this world.
—I will not, go alone.
A voice tinged with venom.
Uttering a single comprehensible word amidst the monstrous screams, he raised all the circuits and sent them flying at Clay.
"Your Majesty!"
The demons tried to protect Clay, but it was too late.
In the end, those circuits pierced not Clay, but the others who had rushed in.
"Keo, keok."
"Kuleok."
Nael, and Yuru.
Clay's and their gazes met.
"Sorry, Clay."
"Brother..."
The circuits sent the two of them flying to another place in an instant.
"......"
Clay's movements stopped. He couldn't do anything.
"Clay!"
When other circuits aimed for Clay, Tia swung her sword of light and cut them down.
"Dodge..."
A single circuit pierced Tia's body. She immediately cut the circuit with her sword, but it was a fatal wound.
"Keo, heuk."
She staggered next to Clay.
"Go, go, Clay."
She muttered.
"It won't be, long anyway. For me, or for Elhaen."
"Ti… a."
"This was the only, way, wasn't it?"
Tia looked at Clay and gave a bitter smile.
"But for me, it was the best ending, so I'm glad."
Clay couldn't say anything. Was this the ending he had wished for the most? Even he himself couldn't know.
His thoughts were erased.
He had lived for people, and after living again, he had lived for anger.
But after seeing this sight before his eyes, he really couldn't know anymore.
What he was doing now.
Why was he standing here?
Not when he was pierced by the ice spear, but now, his body had completely stopped. Clay's face contorted.
Pain.
He had thought there would be no greater pain, but agony swept through his entire body.
"...Ah."
That was the end.
