Chapter 591
Chapter 591
Li Tingzhou looked at his sister, who still had not woken up, and asked in confusion, “What’s going on?”
Everyone turned to Jun Mowen, seemingly doubtful of whether what he had just said was true.
“What’s the hurry? Perhaps she’s been too worried about her husband these past few days. She’ll wake up after she’s had enough rest.” Jun Mowen sounded somewhat uneasy as he spoke.
Everyone thought that Jun Mowen must be right.
After all, he was a physician. Whatever he said had to be correct.
“Then let’s let Weiwei get some proper rest for now,” Lady Yao suggested.
No one questioned Jun Mowen’s words. They all left the room.
“Keep an eye on her,” Jun Mowen instructed Cuiyue before hurrying toward another room.
Madam Jin watched him go and frowned.
While everyone else was happily discussing Li Zhiwei’s pregnancy, Madam Jin quietly followed Jun Mowen.
Once she had closed the door, she hurried over to him and asked, “You didn’t tell them everything just now, did you?”
“The situation isn’t very good.” Jun Mowen was also baffled as to why Li Zhiwei had suddenly fallen into a coma and refused to wake up.
“What exactly is wrong with Weiwei?” Madam Jin could not bring herself to believe that something had happened to the disciple she had only just taken in.
“She isn’t pregnant?” Madam Jin clutched her chest and asked uncertainly.
“She is pregnant,” Jun Mowen said firmly.
“Then why is she unconscious?” Madam Jin pressed.
“Her pulse is normal, but there’s still no sign of her waking up.” Jun Mowen continued flipping through the medical text in his hands.
“How could this happen?” Madam Jin murmured in disbelief.
“Old man, do you think it’s because Weiwei is worrying too much about her husband?” Madam Jin recalled how everyone had been discussing Xu Heming lately and asked hesitantly.
“It’s possible. But for now, the most important thing is to help Weiwei free herself from her inner demons and wake up as soon as possible.” Jun Mowen sighed.
“If her husband comes back, will Weiwei wake up?” Madam Jin asked, her eyes rimmed with red.
Jun Mowen did not answer. He could not answer.
In truth, he suspected that Li Zhiwei might have another knot in her heart.
But he had no concrete evidence. After all, the Li family was the richest household in the land, and Li Zhiwei had never wanted for food or clothing.
Besides, Li Zhiwei and her husband seemed to have a good relationship.
Thinking of this, Jun Mowen sighed, shook his head, and continued turning the pages of the medical text in his hands.
Meanwhile, Li Tianyou and the others were sitting in the courtyard, happily chatting.
“Now that Weiwei is pregnant, we’ll soon be grandparents,” Li Tianyou said.
The thought of a soft, chubby little baby toddling around his legs and calling him Grandfather filled Li Tianyou with delight.
“Exactly,” Lady Yao agreed with a smile.
“Who would have thought that the youngest among them would be the first to have a child?” Yao Qisheng said with a hint of jealousy.
When he thought of his own disappointing son, Yao Qisheng wished he had agreed a few years earlier to let his son marry into the Li family.
If he had, his son would not be wasting away miserably at home now.
Of course, Yao Qisheng would never dare say such a thing aloud.
After all, his son Yao Shuheng had done too many outrageous things back then, and neither his sister nor brother-in-law had forgiven him.
On the other side, Li Tingzhou was staring fixedly at Wen Xiu.
“Why are you staring at me?” Wen Xiu asked, feeling uncomfortable beneath his overly direct gaze.
She truly could not understand what he meant by looking at her like that. The one who was pregnant was Li Zhiwei, after all.
“Wen Xiu, my little sister is about to become a mother. Shouldn’t we start making arrangements for our marriage?” Li Tingzhou asked, looking at Wen Xiu pitifully.
“You’ll have to ask my eldest brother about that.” Wen Xiu turned her face away shyly.
She could not help thinking that this man was unbelievable. How could he ask her about something like this?
Marriages were arranged by one’s parents and matchmakers.
Although his parents were no longer alive, his elder brother was still around.
“I’ll ask my brother as soon as I get back,” Li Tingzhou said with a smile.
“What is it you want to ask me?”
A sudden voice came from behind Li Tingzhou.
“Big Brother!” Wen Xiu exclaimed excitedly when she saw Zhang Yanchu.
“Mm. Are you all right?” Seeing his sister standing safely before him, Zhang Yanchu finally let out a sigh of relief.
Heaven knew how anxious he had been when he heard about what had happened in Lucheng.
He had traveled day and night to get here, not daring to delay for even a moment, afraid that he might arrive too late to save his sister.
“Big Brother, I’m fine. Why are you here?” Wen Xiu asked, puzzled.
“I was ordered by His Majesty to assist Prince An. I happened to be passing through and came to check on you first.” Zhang Yanchu had managed to find the mountain stronghold only because he happened to run into Xu Mu, who had gone down the mountain to investigate the situation.
“Big Brother!” Li Tingzhou had never expected that, just after telling his fiancée he wanted to discuss their marriage with her elder brother, he would be caught by the very man in question.
He felt awkward for a moment.
“Mm. Where are your father and Princess Consort of An?” Zhang Yanchu intended to greet Li Zhiwei and Li Tianyou before hurrying on to Heping.
No one knew what the situation there was like yet.
“My father is over there, and my sister is resting right now,” Li Tingzhou quickly explained.
“Big Brother, Miss Li is pregnant. She’s resting at the moment,” Wen Xiu hurriedly added.
“Mm.” Zhang Yanchu nodded to show that he understood.
Still, he felt a faint pang of envy toward Prince An. He was about to become a father again.
Then he thought of Cheng Qingli. He had no idea when they would finally be able to marry.
However, the Cheng family probably would not agree to let Cheng Qingli marry him so soon.
Li Tianyou was also stunned when he saw Zhang Yanchu.
“General Wen, when did you arrive?” he asked.
“I just got here. Minister Li, how have you been?” Zhang Yanchu asked after first giving Li Tianyou a junior’s formal bow.
“I’ve been well. General Wen, have you come here because…” Li Tianyou sensed an ominous feeling when he saw Zhang Yanchu.
Could something have gone wrong on Prince An’s side?
He did not voice the question. He merely stared intently at Zhang Yanchu, hoping to find the answer in his eyes.
“I was ordered by His Majesty to assist Prince An,” Zhang Yanchu said without elaborating, then added hurriedly, “Since Princess Consort of An is resting, I won’t disturb her. I still have to continue on my journey.”
With that, he turned to leave.
“Big Brother…”
Seeing her brother about to depart, Wen Xiu felt a little reluctant to let him go.
“Be good. Stay here and wait for your brother to come and take you home.” Zhang Yanchu had heard Xu Mu describe the situation here while on the road and knew that they were safe staying in this place.
