I Became an Evolving Deep-Sea Creature

Chapter 138

Chapter 138. Contract of the Divine Light Spire

His third eye itches.

Yul left the Eures Keynes Realm and, while flying, took out the diary left behind by his future self and read it.

It contained experiences and conjectures about how the Demon Eyes were awakened.

For example, things like this.

[Method to awaken the Demon Eye of Rays: Analyze the UV Thermal Gun for a long time and ‘get hit by it’. In fact, there were about three individuals who were struck and awakened the beam-emission ability of the UV Thermal Gun.]

[Method to awaken the Demon Eye of Stasis: It is presumed to be getting caught in a trap and being bound for three days. The one who possessed this Demon Eye was trapped by another ‘Yul’ and remained bound for three days, after which he awakened it. It’s not certain.]

[Method to awaken the Demon Eye of Severance: Become a master of the sword. The user of the Demon Eye of Severance was a practitioner who trained for hundreds of years with a sword made of bones. The condition is likely to become a master of the sword.]

[Method to awaken the Demon Eye of Void: Sever your own body. The user of this Demon Eye had half lost their mind and cut off their own legs or arms. That might be the cause.]

[Method to awaken the Demon Eye of Gravity: I have no idea. I don’t even know how they perceived gravity, nor why the same gravity applies to them when they use it. The one who awakened this must have been quite insane.]

Looking at them, Yul muttered.

“There are all kinds of insane methods.”

Every single one was grotesque.

If there was a commonality, it was either undergoing extreme ascetic hardship or gaining deep understanding through long experience.

If one delves deeply into a certain phenomenon, one acquires the corresponding Demon Eye.

‘Then what can I do right now?’

Yul flipped through the Demon Eyes listed in the notebook. The one he could attempt immediately was shooting himself with the UV Thermal Gun to awaken the Demon Eye of Rays.

‘Is there really any need to go that far?’

The Yuls of Dragon Land had been in extreme situations, firing the UV Thermal Gun at each other and awakening through that. There was no real need for him to do the same.

‘It might be better to awaken the Demon Eye of Distortion.’

However, there was no record of it.

[The Demon Eye of Distortion: I wanted to speak more with the one who awakened this, but due to its peculiarity, they became a target too quickly.]

It seemed even the future Yul didn’t know how it had been awakened.

Yul recalled the Infinite-Series Dimensional Perceiver in his backpack. It was a device that deployed a small field—it couldn’t block physical attacks, but it could block dimensional ones.

‘If I awaken a Demon Eye while wearing this, could I awaken the Demon Eye of Distortion?’

What mattered was understanding the phenomenon. If Yul experienced a dimensional attack, he would be able to comprehend it.

‘Then how did the one who awakened the Demon Eye of Distortion do it?’

Out of countless Yuls, only one had awakened it.

There may have been experiences in Dragon Land, but what exactly caused that distortion?

Tracing back his memories, Yul recalled the most recent terrifying phenomenon he had experienced.

‘The ring finger, the Sower….’

The Sower had instantly distorted space and ‘sent’ the Mother Nest somewhere else.

If he could recall that sensation, he might be able to awaken the Demon Eye of Distortion.

‘Not now.’

It felt like a certain critical point was needed, but he didn’t yet know what.

Yul crossed the boundary of the Eures Keynes Realm. When he was in human form, he had felt dizzy around here, but now there was nothing.

After passing through smoothly, Yul flew toward the former Penguin Kingdom.

‘It doesn’t seem like they’ve gathered together yet.’

For now, it seemed each tribe was still living while guarding its own territory.

It might take time before Gilsefnodo, who would return to the Penguin Kingdom, could do anything.

Crossing the sea again, Yul arrived at the Penguin Exile Island.

The island was desolate, with almost no life.

He lifted the inverted triangular weight and slammed it into the ground. The sandy shore dented deeply.

The Divine Light Spire was embedded in the sand.

Standing over it, he closed his eyes and focused. On the physical level, the magic circuit is distributed throughout the entire body.

And when moving to the spiritual level, it passes through the magic engine and reaches the domain where the magic core resides.

The magic core is the soul.

The magic engine is an engine that can be engraved onto the soul.

After ascending from an orca to a member of the Deep King Tribe, Yul had ‘lost’ what had been in his magic engine.

He needed to relearn things like Great Balance Magic and mantras, but he hadn’t even attempted it yet.

The magic engine was as clear and pure as it had been in the beginning.

Until now, to draw out magic, Yul had simply used his will to extract unrefined magic and use it as-is.

‘I desire a contract with the Divine Light Spire.’

As Yul’s magic seeped in, a will began to flow back from the Divine Light Spire. It traveled along his magic circuit and reached the magic engine within the soul’s domain.

An empty page. Into the unprocessed pathway, the Spire’s engine connected.

Fwoooosh!

At that moment, a flash burst before his eyes, and a scene unfolded.

In the cryogenic vacuum of space, where starlight shimmered, something burned like the sun and spun in circles.

‘What is this!?’

It was a fragment of the past. Yet it did not seem like a landscape from this universe. Somewhere in another universe, the Divine Light Spire was spinning.

A massive mass of light held it.

That giant of light radiated overwhelming momentum as it spun the Spire.

And on the opposite side, something wrapped in a blue aura of writhing tentacles stared with malice.

It grasped a massive star from beyond the galaxy.

And threw it.

That immense mass being wielded by a being with will was, in itself, astonishing.

◆◆◆◆◆!

Then the giant of light pierced and shattered a massive planet with the swung Divine Light Spire.

Creatures living on that planet’s surface were flung out into the void of space.

But no one paid any attention to the deaths of such insignificant beings.

The giant of light and the cosmic tentacled monster each manifested their own justice and weapons, wholly absorbed in killing one another.

The Divine Light Spire, which had destroyed the planet, struck the tentacled creature wrapped in a blue aura.

But as if it had no effect, the creature pulled an entire solar system from the other side.

As the Spire rotated, it shattered all the planets that had been dragged in. Even the central sun, upon being struck by the Spire, had its bonds severed and turned into cosmic kindling.

This insane war continued endlessly.

Fragments of the scene were buried across countless ages, and from that sediment, a fragment of the distant future emerged.

Soon, a massive plate beneath his feet began to shine.

A new Creation was beginning. Light flashed at the Arctic.

Tzzap!

Light burst forth, and everything was consumed and erased into brilliance.

Only then was Yul able to awaken from the memory of the past.

-W-what was that just now?

Yul stammered in shock. What he had just witnessed, through the past memory of the Divine Light Spire, was the moment when a new Creation began somewhere.

‘It might have been another layer before this universe was born.’

If that was the case, then this Divine Light Spire was something that had once been wielded by a giant of light at the end of a previous universe, at the dawn of Creation.

‘This isn’t just a simple Starfall Weapon.’

It had been stored in Norspelskard’s warehouse, and since he said he had placed it together with the Starfall Weapons, Yul had assumed it was one of them.

But now—

It was clear that Norspelskard himself hadn’t known its true nature.

‘Another divine weapon originating from an unimaginable past….’

However, the current Divine Light Spire didn’t seem particularly special, aside from being somewhat large and possessing absolutely unchanging durability.

Yul exerted his will onto the Divine Light Spire. Even without telekinesis, it rose into the air.

‘Now I can swing the Divine Light Spire while using telekinesis alongside it. For now, that’s about it.’

Still, since it had been described as a growth-type weapon, someone must have used it before.

And the fact that that person no longer existed meant they were dead. Its growth must have reset back to its initial state.

The Divine Light Spire seemed to be a weapon that had to be cultivated continuously.

As for how to grow it, the answer naturally surfaced in his mind.

‘Rotation.’

Yul grasped the Divine Light Spire and swung the chain, spinning it. At the tremendous rotational speed, the surrounding sand was blown into the air.

Through this rotation, the Divine Light Spire grows. And it could also grow by defeating enemies. When powerful foes were slain, fragments of their souls seemed to be stored within the Spire.

The more that accumulated, the stronger and more durable it would become. It was an incredible weapon.

‘Hehe, Norspelskard, you idiot.’

He had obtained an extraordinary weapon. If he told Norspelskard about this, it would surely make his stomach churn.

He decided to save that for the next time they met, and for now, Yul moved to rendezvous with Lucian.

In an instant, Yul crossed the Great Azure Ocean and arrived at the meeting point.

‘Huh? Why isn’t he here?’

It was clearly marked on the Golden Sea Chart that Lucian should be here.

Even after arriving, Yul couldn’t see Lucian, so he closed his eyes and synchronized his vision with his Sinker.

His vision was pitch black—he couldn’t see anything.

Even if Lucian’s vision had been obscured beyond the Eures Keynes Realm due to its mythic nature, the fact that he still couldn’t see it now—

‘Lucian is alive. But why isn’t he responding?’

He could naturally sense that Lucian was alive. But the lack of vision meant something magical was interfering.

Yul shot high into the sky. Ascending in a straight line to his limit, he then looked toward the route leading to the Arctic.

Using all six of his eyes, Yul scanned the distant sea, and soon found Lucian’s ship, the Strellock.

He flew quickly and descended onto the Strellock.

What he saw was the ship covered in black fog.

‘Something happened here.’

The Strellock was wrapped in an eerie silence, like a ghost ship.

‘What on earth happened while coming here from the Arctic?’

Yul descended to the deck and looked around. Immediately, he used Polymorph to return to human form and shouted:

“Lucian!”

No response. As he walked further, he saw sailors collapsed on the ground, covered in blood.

“…!”

They hadn’t been there just moments ago. To Yul, it looked as though they had just ‘appeared.’

There was no need to even check the cause of death. They had stabbed each other with swords and died together.

‘What is this!?’

Yul realized this was no ordinary situation. Some unknown force was interfering here.

From the black fog covering the area, he felt a strange sensation.

‘Yes… this feeling… it’s like space itself is distorted.’

Just like when he had been in Dragon Land, it felt as though space itself was warped.
