In other words, Evil Demons rarely encountered anything capable of causing them genuine pain. Unlike humans, who constantly faced birth, aging, illness, death, joy, separation... all kinds of pain that penetrated to the very marrow.
It could be said that all humans far surpassed Evil Demons in their capacity to endure suffering. After all, they had gained much more, and pain came with those gains as well.
The Evil Demons' lack of experience with suffering had now become the greatest torment imaginable for them.
