Chapter 122 : Chapter 122
122. I’ll Eat Two Bowls
Drool uncontrollably dripped from the corner of Yi Ning’s mouth.
“Since you’ve said that…”
She casually tossed the thing in her hand onto the floor, happily scuttled over to the seat opposite Lu Zheng, stretched out her arm to pull the extra bowl of noodles in front of herself, cracked apart the chopsticks, and began devouring.
“Awoo~”
Slurp slurp~
“Tastes really good.”
Watching Yi Ning wolfing down the noodles in front of him, Lu Zheng smiled helplessly, then lowered his head and continued eating his own portion.
Perhaps it was because the Yi Ning in front of him was eating with such a blissful expression that even the food in his own bowl seemed to taste better.
Truly a beauty worth feasting upon.
“I’m full.”
Yi Ning drained the last sip of soup in her bowl and slammed the bowl onto the table.
“Thank you very much!”
She pressed her palms together.
“I’ll transfer the money to you later.”
“That’s not really necessary.”
Seeing Yi Ning still looking as if she wanted more, Lu Zheng glanced at his bowl that still had quite a bit of noodles left and half-jokingly asked, “Want to eat mine too?”
“No.”
Yi Ning shook her head, unabashedly showing a disgusted expression while forming a big X with her hands in front of her chest.
“I don’t want to eat your saliva.”
Lu Zheng’s expression showed no change in response to Yi Ning’s obvious disdain.
He merely shrugged regretfully and continued enjoying his dinner.
After putting a few more bites into his mouth, Lu Zheng suddenly lifted his head, as if he had just remembered something.
He pulled out a sheet of paper from his pocket and handed it to Yi Ning, who was lying idly on the table watching him eat.
“What’s this thing?”
Yi Ning asked as she took the paper and glanced over it.
It was a compensation claim form for damages incurred during hero operations, requesting compensation for several cameras destroyed the last time Lu Zheng came to thwart her evil plan.
Although this was indeed true, could an evil organization claim compensation for damages incurred while carrying out evil plans?
Wasn’t this against the rules?
Yi Ning read through the document from top to bottom and handed it back to Lu Zheng.
“I’ve looked over it. I have no objections.”
She did not raise her previous doubt.
It was rare to get compensation; what if she pointed out it was unreasonable and they refused to reimburse it later?
However, Lu Zheng did not reach out to take back the document.
He used the back of his hand to push the document back, then handed over a pen.
“While you’re at it, include this time’s as well.”
He pointed to the gaping hole in the wall next to the front door.
Yi Ning glanced at the hole in the wall, then at Lu Zheng who was still eating noodles, rolled her eyes, and helplessly gave him the middle finger.
“Shouldn’t you be the one filling out this kind of document? Yet you’re dumping it on me.”
Although she said that, Yi Ning did not show any real dissatisfaction and picked up the pen to start filling out the form.
When she reached the section for the compensation amount, Yi Ning’s pen tip paused.
She lowered her head, slightly lifting her eyelids to glance at Lu Zheng across from her, then looked back at the document in front of her.
Since she was the one filling it out, adding a bit more shouldn’t be a problem, right?
She nodded lightly and wrote a number slightly higher than the estimated loss on the document.
“Here.”
Yi Ning finished filling out the document and handed it back to Lu Zheng.
Feeling guilty for adding more, she folded the document and silently prayed that Lu Zheng wouldn’t check it after taking it, as if that would keep her compensation intact.
Unfortunately, Lu Zheng opened it for a glance right after taking it.
Seeing the amount written on the document, he lifted his head and casually glanced at Yi Ning.
Seeing this, Yi Ning quickly puffed out her chest, forcing herself to look righteous.
That’s the amount, not a cent less!
Luckily, Lu Zheng didn’t say anything, only hooked the corner of his mouth before slipping the document into his pocket.
Wait!
Lu Zheng’s action instantly made Yi Ning’s senses tingle.
Lu Zheng definitely noticed that the number she wrote was off!
But why didn’t he react?
Yi Ning’s mind spun for a moment before she suddenly recalled that the cameras listed on the previous document probably did not comply with regulations either.
She realized.
This brat Lu Zheng wasn’t as honest as he appeared.
He had deliberately let her fill out the document!
Once this thought clicked into place, Yi Ning immediately felt regret.
Ah!
If she had known, she wouldn’t have written such a conservative amount! She could have changed the camera amount too!
If not doubling it, adding at least another half would have been nice!
Regret was too late!
Yi Ning pounded the table in frustration.
She was filled with grief and indignation!
Fortunately, Yi Ning’s little emotions came and went quickly.
She soon shook off her regret, laying on the table with a lingering sadness, staring at Lu Zheng eating his noodles without moving.
This sorrowful gaze made Lu Zheng’s back feel a bit cold, prompting him to quickly speed up his eating.
“Hey, Lu Zheng.”
Perhaps bored from watching him eat for so long, Yi Ning tilted her head while lying on the table and casually asked Lu Zheng a question.
“By the way, I’m a bit curious, did you consider the possibility that I wouldn’t eat your noodles?”
“I did.”
Lu Zheng nodded and gave his plan.
“I would have eaten two bowls.”
“Mhm~”
Yi Ning propped her chin up with her hand, dazedly watching Lu Zheng scoop the last bits of noodles into his mouth, as if she was deep in thought.
Lu Zheng cleaned up the bowls from himself and Yi Ning.
“Can we start now?”
Yi Ning closed her fingers together and stretched her hand toward Lu Zheng.
“Silence! I’m thinking!”
Lu Zheng could only shrug and sit back in his original seat.
After a few minutes, Yi Ning suddenly jumped up from her chair excitedly, shouting something like “I have a pian! I have a big pian!” while running into the kitchen.
“Hehehehehe! Cake’s here!”
After another ten-plus minutes, she returned smiling with a plate of cake, placing it in front of Lu Zheng.
“Here, try it.”
“No thanks, I just ate noodles, I’m not really hungry now.”
Lu Zheng waved his hand.
“This isn’t for you to eat. It’s a trap I just thought of. Hurry up and test it for me.”
Yi Ning recommended enthusiastically.
Lu Zheng turned his head, looking at Yi Ning with an expression that seemed to say: Do you think I’m an idiot?
He was not an idiot.
She outright called it a trap, so how could he possibly try it?
But looking at Yi Ning’s sparkling, pitifully pleading eyes in front of him…
Forget it, foolish people have foolish blessings.
He picked up a fork and carefully sent a small piece into his mouth.
The taste was unexpectedly quite good.
Wasn’t it supposed to be some unimaginable shock flavor to stop his thinking, followed by hidden poison in the cake to paralyze his body or something?
Lu Zheng licked the cream from his fork, still wondering how Yi Ning planned to use this cake to trap him.
“You brats, dare to hurt me!”
At that moment.
A loud shout suddenly rang out in Lu Zheng’s ear.
“Hurt me, and I’ll repay you tenfold!”
The quietly sitting cake on the table suddenly swelled up, lunging and biting Lu Zheng’s arm, tossing him into the air, and with a leap, swallowed him in one bite, leaving only his head exposed.
Lu Zheng: “?”
“How is it? My latest trap?”
“A delicious cake hiding endless killing intent.”
Yi Ning laughed loudly as she walked up to Lu Zheng, proudly putting her hands on her hips.
“I have named it: Those Who Eat Others Will Themselves Be Eaten!”
