Chapter 92 : What Kind of Maid Am I If I Can't Even Protect a Little Girl
There were two priests in the team. For a forty-person group, two priests were obviously insufficient, but since this mission was neither monster farming nor exploration, the sparse number of priests made sense.
After all, who could have imagined that [Falling Star Rain], a skill commonly used for pulling monsters, could bring such severe negative effects?
Among the negative statuses I applied to them was a Debuff called [[Corrosive Poison]], which reduced a certain amount of health over time. For guild adventurers with decent equipment, this status wasn't fatal, but its true purpose was to prevent them from taking purification potions from their bags.
Besides purification skills, potions prepared by alchemists also had the effect of removing negative statuses. The timed health reduction from [Corrosive Poison] meant they were constantly taking damage, keeping them in combat status and ensuring they couldn't retrieve items from their bags.
I only needed to target those two priests. As we approached the adventurer team, we also heard what seemed to be orders from their leader.
But Sigrdrífa's movements were swifter than theirs. The moon elf, under the moonlight's illumination, was like a phantom in the shadows.
Affected by [Blind] and other Debuffs, the adventurers were completely unaware of Sigrdrífa's presence. She passed through the outer warriors without any obstruction and reached the priests' side.
Without priests who could cast purification magic, they couldn't remove the negative statuses, let alone pursue us at full speed. The Debuffs I applied were all maximum level; unless they were adventurers specialized in priest abilities, crude purification simply didn't have the power to dispel them.
Having lost the warriors' protection, the lightly armored priests were no different from lambs for slaughter before Sigrdrífa. She swiftly completed throat-cutting the moment the leader issued his command, instantly killing both adventurers, who could only wait obediently for resurrection.
"Damn it! Are there any elevated positions nearby where someone could trigger headshots? Stay alert!"
The captain shouted loudly. He seemed more inclined to believe there were unobserved elevated positions from which an archer had headshot the priests. This misconception was understandable since stealth killing required becoming visible, but Sigrdrífa's one-hit kills, combined with the cover of night, meant the disrupted adventurers couldn't detect her presence and could only speculate about remote attacks from somewhere.
Sigrdrífa disengaged from among the adventurers, and I took the opportunity to use my chains to pull her back, directly flinging her onto the legendary steed's back.
"Ow... be gentler, Anna."
Sigrdrífa complained while clutching her sore bottom, probably quite bruised from that landing.
"Sorry, my hands aren't very free."
Using chains to pull Sigrdrífa back was my limit; I really couldn't guarantee she'd land comfortably.
"It's not that I'm blaming Anna... but how did you do that? Those adventurers had so many negative statuses."
"Same question."
Baron Trafalgar chimed in agreement; he seemed to have noticed the status changes on the adventurers' public panels too.
"I added a lot of Debuffs to the arrows of [Falling Star Rain]... so..."
"[Falling Star Rain]?! But that's..."
Baron Trafalgar was stunned. Considering the number of arrows in [Falling Star Rain], his surprise was inevitable. Actually, achieving this wasn't easy for me either, but it was definitely within my capabilities.
"Anna, you can apply negative statuses too..."
"I know a little."
"You call negative statuses too numerous to even see 'knowing a little'... Fine, I can't carelessly offend Anna in the future, or my fate will be terrible."
Sigrdrífa spoke in a joking tone. Of course, I would never apply negative statuses to people around me.
We quickly left the adventurer team far behind, and Carol Cat in my arms rubbed her eyes and couldn't help yawning.
"Sorry meow... I really need to log off..."
"Thank you for your help today. Sweet dreams."
"Miss Anna should take care too... everyone should... Um, if I'm in the way, you can just drop me off, that's all~"
After saying this, Carol Cat's character tilted her head to one side. Although I understood she had logged off, this expression looked more like...
"Lord Trafalgar, are you..."
"Oh, I'm fine. But we need to find a place to rest before dawn. Not only do I have scheduling issues, but I can see you all need rest too."
"Thank you for your consideration."

After Carol Cat logged off, our group continued traveling. Fortunately, we didn't encounter any more guild-organized adventurers for a while.
Without having to deliberately avoid adventurer scouts and instead breaking through in straight lines, our efficiency was much faster.
But Baron Trafalgar's suggestion wasn't unreasonable. I was personally fine, and Carol Cat could log off to rest, but I couldn't demand that Sigrdrífa and Lily work at high intensity for long periods like me.
Especially Lily, who was already showing signs of drowsiness, but due to the constant jolting, she couldn't fall asleep on horseback. Moreover, Lily seemed to be forcing herself to stay alert, probably feeling she couldn't rest alone.
While feeling sorry for Lily, I was also blaming myself for my incompetence.
For Lily's sake, I had to find a stable place to settle.
