Chapter 506 : Might of the Mermaid
Chapter 506: Might of the Mermaid
"It’s a Deep-Sea Mermaid!"
──Rumble, rumble──
Listening to the unending thunderclaps echoing by their ears, Tallina and Orn, who were caught in the center of the tsunami, finally saw the true form of the spellcaster.
However, what Tallina and Orn both could not comprehend was that this Deep-Sea Mermaid who had suddenly appeared in the 【Water Elemental Plane】 was clearly not the same person as the third Wizard Apprentice who had entered the 【Black Hole】 earlier.
Not only did they look completely different, but the difference in power between the two was a chasm — vast and impassable.
"That’s impossible! The 《Wizard Contract》 clearly states that official Wizards are forbidden from interfering in the battles between apprentices! Even if it’s a Deep-Sea Mermaid from Atlantis, they must still abide by the contract!"
Just from one encounter, both Tallina and Orn — who had already condensed their own 【Law Seeds】 — found themselves utterly helpless.
Their own 【Domain】 was effortlessly shattered, and the raging tsunami around them pressed down with such force that they could barely breathe.
Faced with such a level of assault, their only option was to flee the 【Water Elemental Plane】. Otherwise, when those towering waves struck, having their Spiritual Bodies destroyed would be the lightest possible consequence.
"Tallina, give it up. We can’t possibly withstand the attack of an official Wizard—"
"That’s not fair! I’ll report this to the Wizard Council!"
"Don’t be foolish. Can’t you see? That Deep-Sea Mermaid was actually summoned by that Summoning-type apprentice!"
Hearing that, Tallina, who had lost her composure out of fury and frustration, regained a bit of rationality.
Just as the Apprentice of the Two-Headed Dragon, Orn, had said — because of the restrictions of the 《Wizard Contract》, official Wizards normally wouldn’t interfere with affairs within the 【Crawling Zone】.
However, if an official Wizard were to descend into the 【Crawling Zone】 as the “Contracted Creature” of a Summoning-type apprentice, then it wouldn’t count as a violation of the contract.
"An apprentice capable of summoning a Contracted Creature on the level of an official Wizard… how could that even be possible—"
Splash──Watching the terrifying waves closing in, Orn, who knew time was short, didn’t hesitate any longer. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed Tallina beside him and swiftly activated his precious escape scroll, decisively leaving the 【Water Elemental Plane】.
"Splash——"
The very moment the two escaped, the massive waves finally crashed down upon the sea’s surface, roaring with overwhelming force.
Yet soon after, the once turbulent sea gradually calmed, as if those cataclysmic scenes had merely been an illusion — returning once again to tranquility.
"Your current condition is poor. Unless absolutely necessary, don’t use Contract Magic again."
Having completed the task entrusted by Janna, the mermaid Anna also dove back beneath the sea, swimming toward Janna.
But upon sensing Janna’s severely weakened state, the mermaid Anna frowned slightly and spoke with a hint of helplessness.
"Thank you, Anna. I’ll be careful."
Awakening from her shallow meditation, Janna smiled softly at the mermaid’s concerned expression as she replied.
"Honestly… I don’t even know what to say about you—"
Seeing Janna’s weak yet gentle smile, the mermaid Anna sighed and shook her head. Then, she blew a water bubble, enclosing Janna protectively inside.
"Staying here any longer would only burden you. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now. Remember, nothing is more important than your life."
After offering that final piece of advice for Janna’s soul power’s sake, the mermaid Anna voluntarily dispersed the power of the contract and left the 【Water Elemental Plane】.
"Miss Janna—"
Just as Anna departed, Louisto-Tulan arrived, supporting the frail Hela-Helheim beside him as they returned to the seabed in search of Janna.
"So you’re here. I was worried something had happened to you."
Seeing that Janna was unharmed, Louisto-Tulan, who was forcing himself into the seawater despite his magic’s natural repulsion, finally exhaled in relief.
"I’m fine, just a bit exhausted. What about Hela? Is she all right?"
"Her condition’s not good."
"It’s just that there are still some biological toxins lingering in her Spiritual Body, nothing serious."
Sitting on Louisto-Tulan’s back and meditating, Hela-Helheim opened her eyes at Janna’s question, assuring her that she was fine.
"If the toxin isn’t completely purified, it could easily cause hidden injuries."
Saying so, Janna stood up and guided the surrounding water bubbles toward Hela-Helheim.
"Give me your hand."
Hearing that, Hela-Helheim raised her head, looking at Janna’s slightly pale face.
"You’re in no condition to waste your magic on me——"
"Using the power of the 【Laws】 doesn’t require magic."
After a moment’s hesitation, Hela-Helheim obediently placed her hand in Janna’s right hand.
"Huu——"
After examining Hela-Helheim’s ailment, a pure, holy light of purification bloomed from Janna’s palm. As the radiance grew brighter, Hela-Helheim’s entire body was soon enveloped in its glow.
Under the power of the 【Purification Law Fragment】, the tension and pain in Hela-Helheim’s expression slowly faded into calm relief.
"Such pure power—"
As a Dark Wizard Apprentice possessing a 【Dark Affinity】 talent and mastery over the 【Law of Shadow】, Hela-Helheim had always been naturally repelled by light-based magic.
Yet, before the power of Janna’s 【Purification Law Fragment】, she felt no rejection — only a deep, tranquil serenity within the light.
"That should do it."
After cleansing the toxins within Hela-Helheim’s Spiritual Body, Janna released her hand and spoke softly.
"Thank you."
Realizing that the stubborn toxins had truly been removed, Hela-Helheim — who normally disliked owing others — couldn’t help but feel moved.
"You’re welcome. It’s what a responsible teammate should do."
Hearing that, Hela-Helheim lifted her gaze again, meeting Janna’s gentle, kind eyes.
"You really are a dependable teammate. Without you this time, Louisto and I might not have made it out alive."
Indeed, just as Hela-Helheim said, the only reason they managed to hold their ground against two apprentices who had already mastered their 【Law Seeds】 was because of Janna’s exquisite Summoning Witchcraft.
