Chapter 373 : Third Tier Wizard Apprentice
Chapter 373: Third Tier Wizard Apprentice
“Good morning, little ones.”
“Good morning, Professor Grace.”
As Grace Eva and the others walked closer, out of courtesy, Janna and the other second-year students stood up to greet her.
“The evaluation will begin shortly. Sit down first, and remember not to lose your composure.”
Hearing Grace Eva’s words, the senior apprentices from White Coral Academy who had come to take the evaluation also looked for seats and sat down.
Among them were some of Janna’s acquaintances, such as Soro Flare, whom she had just met at the dormitory entrance, as well as Hugh Stone, Lo Silverfox, and Gawen-Tull.
“Senior Sister Gawen, didn’t you already leave Turin?”
Looking at the girl not far away, wearing thick glasses, slightly buck-toothed, with a gentle appearance, Janna asked her through voice transmission, sounding a little excited.
“I didn’t do too well outside, so I came back. Fortunately, when I returned, I happened to catch the preliminary evaluation at the Turin wizard gathering place, so I came over to join in the fun.”
Hearing her reply, Janna couldn’t help but smile sincerely.
Gawen-Tull, a Third Tier Wizard Apprentice with a B-level [Curse] talent, had often worked part-time in the library. Because Janna also frequently borrowed books there, the two had built a good relationship.
Last year, Gawen-Tull had failed to pass the White Tower Trial and had eventually chosen to graduate from White Coral Academy, heading to another wizard gathering place in hopes of joining a stronger wizard organization.
From then on, her contact with Janna had nearly ceased. What Janna hadn’t expected was to meet her again this year at the preliminary evaluation site for the White Tower Trial.
“Janna, what are you smiling about?”
Seeing the sudden smile on Janna’s face, Vivian, who sat closest to her, asked curiously in a whisper.
“It’s nothing. I just saw an old friend and was a bit surprised.”
“Old friend?”
Following Janna’s gaze, Vivian only saw an ordinary-looking girl with glasses. She had never heard Janna mention this person before.
“There are so few people from White Coral Academy taking the preliminary evaluation this year. I just counted, and it’s not even fifty.”
Looking at the seated Third Tier Wizard Apprentices around them, Vivian whispered to Janna through voice transmission. Janna nodded slightly in agreement.
This time, White Coral Academy had forty-eight Third Tier Wizard Apprentices participating in the preliminary evaluation. Among them, six were second-year apprentices. If one excluded the second-years and old apprentices like Soro Flare, who had already graduated last year,
then there were fewer than forty actual third-year apprentices.
If Janna remembered correctly, there should have been more than a hundred third-years in this class at White Coral Academy. Yet, as graduation neared, not even half had successfully broken through to become Third Tier Wizard Apprentices—
“Without external help, thirty points of Spirit Power is a threshold many wizard apprentices may never cross in their lifetime. Especially for common-born apprentices without any resources or backing, it is even more so.”
This was what Janna said silently in her heart.
Among the fifty-plus apprentices who had reached Third Tier, the vast majority were from wizard families.
Even the common-born apprentices had long since signed loyalty contracts with wizard families, receiving resources from them.
For example, in Janna’s class, Andre Green had signed a short-term loyalty contract with the Flare Family. With access to resources, he had managed to break through to Third Tier in his second year, becoming the most talented common-born apprentice after Janna.
Thinking of this, Janna’s gaze drifted toward Andre Green, who sat in the same row as her.
Over two years, Andre Green’s temperament had matured from youthful greenness. Especially the five-centimeter scar beside his brow gave him a colder, sharper presence.
“If I didn’t have the System, I too might not have escaped the fate of signing a loyalty contract with a wizard family.”
Even with a B-level [Wizard Talent] at the start, without resource supply, Janna could only spend large amounts of time completing academy missions to accumulate Academic Credits, just like other apprentices.
In that case, accepting investment from a wizard family wouldn’t have been a bad compromise.
“Clatter—”
Just as Janna was drifting in thought, a loud sound from outside the barrier interrupted her once more.
“Other academies have arrived!”
As Maro Heigel said, following the sound, apprentices from Blackbone Grove led by Lucia Heigel, and apprentices from Mist Tower led by Elder Rook, entered the combat training field of White Coral Academy.
“Right on time at eight o’clock. How punctual.”
Seeing the other academies’ apprentices take their designated seats, Vivian, sitting beside Janna, couldn’t help but whisper through voice transmission.
“They probably arrived now because our academy’s teleportation array only activates at eight.”
Before Janna could finish, the barrier trembled again. This time, stepping inside was Anthony-Rook, along with several other wizards from White Coral Academy.
“Good morning, you two. I didn’t expect only the two of you to lead Blackbone Grove and Mist Tower this time.”
“It’s just a preliminary evaluation. No need to bring so many people.”
Looking at Anthony-Rook, Elder Rook, with his usual expressionless youthful appearance, simply nodded slightly.
On the other side, Lucia Heigel replied absentmindedly, then shifted her gaze toward the large silver mirror at the center of the combat training field.
“Besides, with White Tower wizards overseeing this evaluation, there’s no need to be overly cautious.”
“You’re not wrong.”
Unlike the other wizards who had already taken their seats, Anthony-Rook walked straight to the large silver mirror at the center of the field and faced everyone.
“Since everyone is here, let’s officially begin.”
With that, Anthony-Rook took out a hexagonal magic stone in front of everyone.
Seeing this, Lucia Heigel and Elder Rook also took out their hexagonal magic stones and quickly tossed them toward Anthony-Rook—
