Chapter 362 : Red-Level Mission Reward

Chapter 362: Red-Level Mission Reward

“Hu——haa—hu——haa.”

Long, steady breaths once again flowed from Janna’s mouth and nose. As the familiar forest scenery swept over her once again, Janna realized that she had entered a dream—this was already her second time today.

“Teacher—”

Beneath the trees, Euphresia—whose appearance Janna could never clearly see—was seated cross-legged in the very spot where the Green Elf usually sat, murmuring softly.

On her knees lay a staff: its shaft looked wooden yet gleamed like jade, its tip embedded with a brilliant emerald gem, encircled by blooming flowers and twining vines—a beautiful scepter.

From the vision she had seen in the previous dream, Janna already knew that the staff Euphresia kept stroking was the very same mysterious scepter left behind in the scorched wasteland after the Green Elf’s death.

“Could this staff be some kind of Witch Tool of a wizard-level rank?”

Unlike apprentice-level Witch Tools, wizard-level Witch Tools were infused with the power of Laws, radiating a powerful magnetic field.

If placed in other Planar Domains, such equipment would undoubtedly be hailed as a ‘Divine Artifact.’

However, due to the radiation field inherent to wizard-level Witch Tools, only wizards aligned with the same Law could approach them. Other beings would find it nearly impossible to draw near.

Judging by Euphresia’s reverent manner, Janna concluded that this staff was among the most supreme of wizard-level Witch Tools.

“—”

Just as Janna prepared to examine the staff resting on Euphresia’s lap more closely, the scene abruptly shifted.

“It’s Cain-Bloodred.”

In the blink of an eye, the verdant forest sea gave way to a desolate land of scorched earth and countless bones.

And upon this hellish ground, Cain-Bloodred now stood, clutching the staff that should have belonged to Euphresia.

“The Staff of Life—so this is the thing you chose to guard, even at the cost of your own life?”

Though his face bore no expression, Janna could see deep sorrow burning within Cain-Bloodred’s eyes.

Yet, that grief lingered only a moment before the one holding the Staff of Life curled his lips upward, a wild grin spreading across his face.

“Foolish. Utterly foolish! Euphresia, you’re even a hundred times more foolish than that self-righteous Green Elf!”

Smoke rose, blurring the vision.

As Cain-Bloodred’s figure grew more indistinct, Janna realized this dream was also drawing to a close.

“So… this Witch Tool’s name is the Staff of Life——”

With the dream’s end, Janna reopened her tightly shut eyes.

Glancing around at the familiar surroundings and the familiar faces nearby, a crisp System Notification suddenly rang in her ears.

“System, open the Quest Panel.”

【Today’s Quest: Prevent the Ritual of Divine Descension of the Darksun Church (Completed);

Quest Rating: A-Rank;

Quest Reward: 1000 Talent EXP, 3000 Skill EXP, +0.5 Charisma, +0.1 Luck, Comprehension of the Hymn of Life*1;】

“Hymn of Life?”

After skimming past the rewards for Charisma and Luck, Janna’s gaze fixed upon the final quest reward—Comprehension of the Hymn of Life*1.

“Could the Hymn of Life be related to that chant I heard?”

As she pondered intently, a sudden burning sensation flashed across the back of her hand.

“It’s His Excellency Lucifer—”

Seeing the holy sword totem briefly flare then vanish from her hand, Janna’s expression was filled with gratitude.

“If not for His Excellency Lucifer’s intervention, I would have already been struck dead by Cain-Bloodred.”

Judging by the completed quest notification, as well as Lucifer’s full departure from the Material Plane, this defense battle at the Turin wizard gathering place could be considered a success.

Yet, for White Coral Academy, this victory was a most bitter one—

“Janna, you’ve finally returned to normal.”

Seeing the magical turbulence around Janna dissipate, Vivian Rose hurried forward to examine her condition.

“Sorry, Vivian, I made you worry just now——”

“Not just her—we were all worried about you.”

Hugh-Stone, Bell Moonshadow, Maro Heigel, and several other wizard apprentices of the same grade also stepped forward once they saw Janna had recovered.

At the front, Hugh-Stone sighed in relief and even teased lightly.

“Senior, thank you for your concern——and everyone’s as well.”

Seeing the apprentices gather around her, Janna was briefly stunned. Then, with practiced ease, she smiled warmly, sincerely responding to each of their concerns.

“Janna, you’re now the one everyone wants to protect most. After all, without you, who knows if we’d even be alive right now.”

Hugh-Stone spoke as the upper-year representative, his words echoing the collective feelings of the apprentices.

Although Anthony-Rook and Professor Uta had given their utmost in protecting everyone, without Janna summoning the Six-Winged Seraph at the crucial moment, the battle’s outcome would have been entirely different.

In the worst-case scenario, every last person of White Coral Academy would have been slaughtered by that Marquis-level vampire—

“Janna, were those trees revived by you?”

Finally seizing her chance after Janna finished speaking with the others, Vivian impatiently pulled her out of the crowd, linking arms with her.

She pointed toward the nearby trees, already sprouting fresh branches and leaves, and whispered in her ear.

“It wasn’t me——I’m just as curious.”

Seeing the trees transform from “utter decay” to “brimming vitality,” Janna could roughly guess the reason. After all, this phenomenon occurred at the very moment she heard the “chant.”

In fact, not only the surrounding trees—in that instant when the chant echoed, every tree throughout Turin City had revived.

Such miraculous power could only belong to a Law.

And Janna suspected that the source of this Law’s power was that emerald-green “finger bone,” seemingly belonging to Euphresia—
