Chapter 288 : Law of Spring Order
Chapter 288: Law of Spring Order
"It’s not that my insight is extraordinary. It’s because the path of the witch we chose—just so happens to be the same one———"
The same path of the witch?
Upon hearing Herman-Rose’s words, Janna showed no expression, but her heart was filled with confusion.
"Could it be that the law Mr. Herman has mastered is also one of the subordinate laws under the Law of Nature and Life?"
As she considered this, some rather unreliable speculations began surfacing in Janna’s mind.
"Do you know what the upper-order law of the Growth Law is?"
Upper-order law?
Hearing this unfamiliar term, Janna cautiously replied:
"From what I know, it's the Law of Nature and Life—"
"What you mentioned is a primary law, not the true upper-order law of the Growth Law."
At that, Janna immediately realized that what Herman-Rose was saying now was knowledge she had never encountered before.
"Although the Growth Law is one of the more important subordinate laws under the Law of Nature and Life,
the two do not share a direct linear relationship."
At those words, Janna nodded in agreement.
Janna had read some books related to the concept of laws, but much of it dealt with broad, macro-level ideas.
Especially concerning the Law of Nature and Life, Janna had seen almost no relevant content at all.
However, purely from a logical perspective, Janna also understood that between the Growth Law and the Law of Nature and Life, there were certainly multiple layers of hierarchy.
It was just that she had oversimplified this hierarchy into the relationship between elements and sets.
She had always believed that the Law of Nature and Life was a vast set, and that single subordinate laws like the Law of Life were just elements within that set. The more elements one mastered, the greater the set would become. But in reality, Janna had indeed thought too simply.
According to what Herman-Rose explained today, the Law of Nature and Life was actually a massive tree diagram, and each subordinate law was a root of that tree. In theory, every root had the potential to directly connect to the crown of the tree.
However, to reach the crown, the root must first become a branch. Otherwise, it would be considered skipping steps.
And the upper-order law that Herman-Rose spoke of was that branch.
Only by first condensing the true upper-order law of the Growth Law could Janna possibly reach the crown of the tree, which was the Law of Nature and Life.
"Mr. Herman, would you be willing to tell me what the true upper-order law of the Growth Law is? I am willing to pay the appropriate price for this knowledge."
Knowing that all witches adhered to the Principle of Equivalent Exchange for Witches, Janna included that latter part in her question at just the right moment.
"This isn’t exactly a secret. In fact, I was planning to tell you anyway."
Upon hearing that, Janna nodded earnestly, while quietly speculating about Herman-Rose’s intentions.
"Could this be his way of extending an olive branch, to invite me to join the Rose Family?"
Janna didn’t think that out of narrow-mindedness, but because she understood that behind everyone’s actions lay a foundational logic.
From the moment Herman-Rose deliberately sent Vivianne away, Janna had already known that he had some particular intention in mind.
She just couldn’t judge whether the nature of that intention was good or bad, but out of respect for Vivianne, Janna would assume the best.
"As of now, there is only one known upper-order law of the Growth Law, and that is the Law of Spring Order."
Law of Spring Order?
Hearing this unfamiliar law name, Janna had many questions, but she could also grasp the vertical hierarchy between the two laws.
After all, spring was the very symbol of all things growing. That the Law of Spring Order would be the upper-order law of the Growth Law was not something Janna found strange.
What truly concerned Janna was how to further comprehend the Law of Spring Order.
"Nature is divided into four seasons. Besides the Spring Order, there are also the Summer Order, Autumn Order, and Winter Order.
Only by gathering these four laws together can one truly lay the fundamental foundation of the Law of Nature..."
So Nature and Life were actually two separate laws?
Janna had once doubted this before. However, the Law of Nature and Life was so widely known, and because most of the law-related books Janna had read barely mentioned anything about it,
she had always habitually assumed that the Law of Nature and Life was just the name of a single primary law, never imagining that it was in fact two distinct laws.
"The reason I’m so knowledgeable about the Law of Spring Order is because the law I’ve mastered—Frost Law—is one of the subordinate laws under the Law of Winter Order—"
So it really was the Frost Law!
After hearing Herman-Rose personally confirm it, Janna also silently nodded in her heart.
Even though the Growth Law and Frost Law didn’t sound particularly related, as subordinate laws under the same primary law, there would naturally exist a convergence effect between them.
If Janna were also promoted to a formal witch, she would naturally sense the convergence between Herman-Rose’s Frost Law and her own Growth Law.
"Actually—not necessarily."
Although Janna had never seen content about the Law of Nature and Life in law-related books, she had come across some examples of the Frost Law.
If her memory was correct, the Frost Law was actually a subordinate law under the Snow and Ice Law.
This meant that between Herman-Rose and the Law of Winter Order lay yet another law—the Snow and Ice Law.
This also indicated that the law Herman-Rose had mastered ranked lower than Janna’s Growth Law, and the convergence between them might not be as pronounced as expected.
"Looking at it this way, the path Mr. Herman and I walk as witches really is the same one———"
The prerequisite for mastering a primary law is the fusion of all its underlying subordinate laws.
However, because the subdivisions of the same subordinate law can vary greatly in authority, subordinate laws can coexist before one formally ascends to a primary law.
But in the Primary Material World, a primary law possesses the trait of uniqueness.
Thus, when it comes to comprehending the authority of a primary law, among the vast ocean of seekers, there will inevitably be only one who ascends.
Of course, talking about that now is far too premature. At present, Janna was still just an ordinary apprentice who hadn’t even been promoted to a formal witch.
