Chapter 230 : Chapter — Ninth Floor of the Magic Tower
Chapter 230: Ninth Floor of the Magic Tower
“What’s wrong with you?”
Seeing Nia-Flame looking a little dazed, Marlowe-Haig, who had walked up beside her, asked curiously.
“I finally understand why you were attracted to her.”
“To whom?”
Hearing Nia-Flame’s words and realizing she was referring to Janna, Marlowe-Haig coughed lightly.
“You’re suddenly bringing this up?”
“It’s nothing, just a passing thought.”
Having known each other since childhood, Nia-Flame naturally knew that after the “Three-School Joint Examination,” Marlowe-Haig had been constantly thinking about Janna.
At first, Nia-Flame thought Marlowe-Haig was simply attracted by Janna’s looks and strength. However, after just a brief interaction, even someone like Nia-Flame, who had no previous connection with Janna, found herself unconsciously drawn to her personality and charm.
Like the moon in the night sky—clearly untouchable, yet still stirring longing in one’s heart.
“Let’s go.”
Seeing the surrounding apprentices gradually disperse, Nia-Flame turned around and beckoned to Marlowe-Haig.
Hearing her, Marlowe-Haig couldn’t help but glance deeply once more in Janna’s direction before also turning around and leaving the combat training ground with Nia-Flame amidst the crowd.
“Janna, should I walk you all back?”
As the other apprentices had mostly left, Hugh-Stone, along with Bell-Moonshadow and Andre-Green, remained. Looking at Janna, who was still by Vivian’s side, he asked with concern.
“No need, you all go on ahead. I’ll stay here and wait for Vivian to wake up.”
Smiling as she declined Hugh-Stone’s kind offer, Janna sat cross-legged next to Vivian.
Seeing this, Hugh-Stone and the others exchanged glances, then followed her suggestion and left the combat training ground with the dispersing crowd.
“Ha—” A few minutes later, gazing at the now quiet training ground, Janna blew warm air onto her hands and shifted her gaze back to the still-unconscious Vivian.
“Let’s wait another half hour—if she still doesn’t wake up by then, I’ll just carry her back to the dormitory.”
To her shame, Janna didn’t currently know where Vivian’s dormitory was.
She had known at first, but since Vivian had changed her dorm room this year, Janna no longer knew which building she had moved to.
So, if it came to that, Janna planned to take Vivian back to her own dorm and let her rest in her bed for a while.
“Forget it, let’s just head back now.”
Looking at Vivian’s condition, Janna figured even another three hours of waiting might not change anything, so she might as well return to the dorm first.
“Polymorph!”
Chanting under her breath, emerald butterfly wings swiftly unfolded from Janna’s back. With the help of the Hand of the Witch, Janna lifted Vivian from the ground and began flapping her wings to ascend.
“This is troublesome.”
Feeling that Vivian was significantly heavier than before, Janna sighed helplessly and flew swiftly toward the dormitory with Vivian in her arms.
“Miss Janna, what’s going on with her?”
Seeing Vivian on Janna’s back with her eyes tightly shut, the door spirit asked with concern.
“It’s fine. She’s just asleep.”
As the even sound of Vivian’s breathing came from her nose and mouth, the door spirit let out a relieved sigh.
“Please open the door for me.”
“Understood.”
Since awakening the bloodline of the Cochin Viper, Vivian’s weight had shot up significantly.
To prevent her from slipping off her back, Janna didn’t dare to lower her hands.
“Bang.” After entering the dorm, Janna used her foot to close the door and gently laid Vivian onto the bed.
Then, casting two Cleaning Spells on both herself and Vivian, Janna opened the fridge and poured herself a glass of coffee milk, taking a gulp.
“Vivian’s current weight might be because she only recently awakened her bloodline. Once she learns to control her bloodline power, the energy leakage will stop.”
For Bloodline-track apprentices, the early stages after awakening always came with an awkward phase.
Whether it was growing horns or developing scales, it was all commonplace for Bloodline-track students.
Janna had heard of one apprentice who awakened a water-elemental creature’s bloodline and had to stay in water for long periods during the early stages. Even while sleeping, they needed to soak in a bathtub.
“I command you with my will—summon, Celestial Sparrow.”
With a flash of milky-white light, the parrot-shaped Celestial Sparrow appeared at the center of the contract circle.
“Master, you called?”
“Af, I’m heading out. Watch over her for me. If anything unusual happens, alert me immediately.”
“Understood, Master.”
The communication range between Janna and Celestial Sparrow was extremely far. Even if it was in the Celestial Realm, they could still communicate—though the signal might be weak.
Not just with Celestial Sparrow—Janna could communicate long-distance with nearly all of her Contracted Creatures. Like the Thorn Flower Fairy, when it had trouble during evolution, Janna had sensed it immediately.
This also meant that if any of her Contracted Creatures faced danger within this plane, they could theoretically initiate a reverse summoning to request their contractor’s protection.
However, such reverse summoning was heavily restricted, and whether it would be answered depended entirely on Janna. Contracted Creatures held no authority to command their contractor.
“Bang.” Gently closing the door and leaving a final instruction with the door spirit, Janna took the elevator downstairs and departed the dormitory, heading toward the Magic Tower.
“Tower Spirit, please send me to the ninth floor of the Magic Tower.”
Entering the tower elevator, Janna addressed the crystal pendant at the door with her request.
“Purpose?”
“I’d like to rent a closed cultivation chamber.”
“Approved.”
“Thank you, Tower Spirit.”
Any apprentice at White Coral Academy who wanted to access the first basement level’s “Magical Beast Breeding Room,” the “offices of several official witches,” or the “ninth floor of the Magic Tower” needed approval from the Tower Spirit.
If one’s application was rejected three times in a single day, they couldn’t apply again for the rest of the day.
However, if they were simply attending classes in public classrooms, no such approval was needed—they could go by pressing the elevator button for the desired floor.
“Ding—” As the elevator doors swiftly opened, what greeted Janna was pitch-black darkness, thick enough to blot out even an outstretched hand.
