Chapter 213 : Another School Year Begins
Chapter 213: Another School Year Begins
After returning from a business trip to the Otter Opera House, another half month passed, and the Nightingale Opera Troupe accepted the invitation from the Saint Laurent Opera House for their second tour.
This time, the reception of the tour was clearly better than the one at the Otter Opera House.
As the largest opera house in the Turans wizard community, the Saint Laurent Opera House's style was deeply influenced by the local religious culture. They were particularly receptive to tear-jerking themes like “sacrifice” and “offering.”
Because of this, the grand performance of the Song of the Ocean once again caused a sensation in Turans City.
As Janna’s influence grew, upon returning to Turin, she also secured her first commercial endorsement — a full-line endorsement of the wizard robe series by the Spirit Communication Group.
“Janna, this is a wizard robe custom-made for you by the Spirit Communication Group. Do you want to come and try it on?”
As she spoke, Julie Anne took out a deep purple velvet gift box and placed it in front of Janna.
“And this is the contract revised according to your previous suggestions. If everything looks fine, please sign your name here.”
Glancing over the contract Julie Anne handed over, Janna quickly scanned it and, seeing no issues, signed her name on both copies of the standard contract.
“The contract duration is one year, the endorsement fee is five thousand Gold Surrel, and the Spirit Communication Group will deliver their newest wizard robes each quarter. Overall, it's truly a very sincere collaboration.”
Gently opening the velvet gift box, Janna smiled in satisfaction as she looked at the simply designed but exquisitely detailed deep green wizard robe.
“As expected, expensive things really are different.”
Compared to the transfiguration-specialized wizard robe she previously bought from “Raccoon Cat’s New Clothes,” the one sent by the Spirit Communication Group was several grades higher in both appearance and quality.
After all, just based on price, the “Raccoon Cat Robe” Janna currently wore cost only ninety-five Gold Surrel.
Meanwhile, the robe from the Spirit Communication Group had a starting price of one hundred eighty Gold Surrel — nearly reaching the level of the frost robe custom-made for Vivian Rose by Master Raccoon Cat.
“Does this wizard robe have a name?”
Looking at the wisteria embroidery on the cuff, Janna couldn’t help but ask Julie Anne.
“Yes, it’s called the Wisteria Robe. It’s a new spring model about to be launched in the Spirit Communication Group’s ready-to-wear collection. There’s also the Frostflower Robe, Flamecore Robe, and Graystone Robe — all categorized by attribute.”
As she spoke, Julie Anne handed over a clothing catalog to Janna and asked her to memorize it thoroughly.
“Dustproof, fireproof, cold-resistant, and it even has certain poison and physical resistance traits — indeed a high cost-performance apprentice-level robe designed for transfiguration.”
After removing her performance costume and taking off her makeup, Janna put on the new wizard robe.
“Not bad, not bad. It really suits you.”
From elegant actress to mysterious witch, all it took was putting on a wizard robe for Janna’s aura to undergo a complete transformation.
“By the way, there’s a promotional photo shoot for wizard apparel at two o’clock this afternoon. So, we need to arrive at least an hour early for makeup preparation.”
“Mm, I got it.”
Because today’s performance was a morning show, normally, Janna would have been able to call it a day and clock out in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, with her popularity rising, although her income was increasing, the workload she faced every few days had indeed made her much busier than before.
Fortunately, regardless of how high the remuneration was for any commercial contract, Janna always insisted beforehand that her class time on workdays could not be affected.
So, once the winter break rush passed, she would be able to immerse herself again in the wizard studies she loved.
“Lunch is here—” As the two chatted, Vinnie brought three lunch boxes into the lounge.
“Today’s lunch is a low-carb beef and tomato salad. Dig in.”
Beef salad was a classic weight-loss dish from the Feathered String Tavern. The main ingredients were beef, tomato juice, lettuce, cucumber, etc., with no salad dressing.
“Eating this means no need to worry about water retention this afternoon. Oh right, Vinnie, go buy Janna an iced black coffee.”
“No problem, I’ll go now.”
Watching Vinnie’s hurried back as he left, Janna chewed her salad with a dull expression and couldn’t help but sigh.
“Making money really is a grueling thing——”
Since it was her first photo shoot, Janna spent relatively more time than usual. But fortunately, in the face of absolute beauty, any visual language could become miraculous.
Even the unedited first cut of the footage already held a soul-stirring charm.
“You really worked hard today—” As darkness fell once again, Janna, having completed a full day’s work, merely shook her head tiredly at Julie Anne. After removing her makeup, she donned her new wizard robe and left the shoot alone.
“Finally, it’s almost time for school—”
Two months of winter vacation had already passed four-fifths. In just over a week, Janna would officially begin her second-year courses at White Coral Academy.
Before school started, White Coral Academy required all apprentices to finish selecting their mandatory courses at least two days in advance.
And as a top student excelling in both required and elective courses, Janna had to plan out her electives after picking her required ones.
Therefore, to avoid losing her spot in electives, Janna decided to go to the Magic Tower four days early to complete course selection. Afterward, she planned to exchange for some learnable witchcrafts and use the remaining days to practice.
“If I recall correctly, second-year mandatory courses should still be six———”
In addition to the five courses carried over from first year — Ancient Magic History, Intermediate Spellcasting, Intermediate Herbology, Intermediate Biology, and Defense Against Dark Magic — one new course was added in second year: Dragon Language.
After all, among esoteric magical scripts, besides Elvish Language which was taught in first year, Dragon Language held equal importance.
However, all second-year courses, including mandatory ones, required apprentices to pay for enrollment.
If one didn’t enroll, the apprentice’s daily class grades would be zero. Unless they scored an A+ on the final written exam, they still risked repeating the year.
“Creak— creak—”
Stepping on the thick snow, Janna, now used to working late into the night, once again walked alone under the cold moonlight toward the academy.
“Once school starts, there’ll be no more working overtime like this——”
