Chapter 200 : The Call of the Law
Chapter 200: The Call of the Law
As the Magical Steam Train slowly pulled into the Watermarsh City platform, the crowd that had been waiting for a long time began to line up and disembark quickly.
"Everyone, wake up. It's time to get off."
Hearing David Berg's voice, several passengers who had dozed off on the train began to stir and wake.
Among them was Liji Silks, who had just fallen asleep not long ago.
"Liji, wipe here."
As soon as she opened her eyes, Liji Silks saw Janna pointing to the corner of her mouth.
"Oh no, I drooled—no one else noticed, right?"
"Don’t worry, as long as you keep your voice down, no one will notice."
Janna had intentionally whispered to Liji Silks, but upon hearing her loud and careless voice, she couldn’t help but shake her head.
"Ah, everyone’s already off the train. Let’s hurry too!"
"Your luggage, don’t forget your luggage."
"Right, right—my luggage, I forgot to grab it."
Seeing how drowsy Liji Silks still looked, Janna helped her retrieve her luggage from the rack.
"Thank you so much, Janna. You’re really kind—"
"Save the thanks for later, everyone is waiting for us outside."
"Ah, right."
After handing the luggage to Liji Silks, Janna also put her “disguise” back on. Then the two of them followed at the end of the line and quickly disembarked.
Just as they stepped off the train, Janna felt a breeze mixed with moist water vapor brush against her face.
But before she could savor the feeling, a sudden surge of intense heart palpitations made her heartbeat quicken.
"This is..."
Vitality spread, and energy sprouted.
Feeling the plant-based magical power in her body stir, Janna knew this was the call from the Fragment of the Law of Growth.
"Don’t fall behind. Once we exit the station, a boat will come to pick us up—"
Snapped out of her daze, Janna felt Liji Silks tugging at her sleeve.
"Janna, did you hear that? We’re really taking a boat soon!"
"Yes, I heard."
Watermarsh City, being built atop a water network, had a labyrinthine system of canals. Therefore, transportation often relied on flying devices or small boats.
Of course, although Watermarsh City's no-fly regulations were not as strict as Turin’s, every individual was still required to register with the Watermarsh City Wizard Guild and obtain a driving permit before using any flying devices.
Anyone caught flying without a permit would face penalties ranging from fines to confiscation of the device.
"Splish—splash—"
Just as they exited the station, Janna saw a large number of small boats gathered on a fairly swift-moving canal.
"I remember, our boat should be marked—"
With the crowded platform and the overwhelming number of boats, even David Berg, who had been to Watermarsh City before, found it hard to orient himself.
"Director David, over here!"
As the group was being jostled about by the crowd, Vinnie’s voice suddenly called out from not far away.
"Good thing you came. Otherwise, we’d have never found our boat."
The one responsible for receiving them this time was Vinnie, who had also driven Janna's carriage the last time.
Under Vinnie’s guidance, Janna and the others soon boarded the boat one after another.
"This boat is actually pretty nice."
Although it was just a simple covered wooden boat, it was well-equipped inside. With enough space, it easily accommodated several people and their luggage without feeling cramped.
"Our lodging this time was booked in advance by the Otter Opera House. It's a bit of a ride from here, so feel free to rest on the boat—"
Splish—splash—
Green water like blue jade, verdant hills like ink.
Now officially in the Watermarsh Wizard Gathering, Janna didn’t stay under the boat canopy for long. After helping Liji Silks with her luggage, she stepped out onto the deck and looked at the scenery over the water.
Although it was winter, the scenes in the Watermarsh Wizard Gathering felt like early spring—pleasant temperature, and vibrant landscapes.
Compared to snowy Turin, the spring-like Watermarsh Wizard Gathering clearly held greater appeal for plant-affinity apprentices like Janna.
"The climate here is really nice. It’s nothing like the Misty Forest—so lifeless."
Liji Silks, who also came out to the deck, looked around and couldn’t help but comment.
"The elemental attributes within the Watermarsh Wizard Gathering are indeed more suitable for White Wizards—"
Unlike the three wizard academies in Turin’s Wizard Gathering, Watermarsh Wizard Gathering currently had only one academy—the Floating Island Forest Academy.
The Floating Island Forest Academy was predominantly for White Wizards and leaned toward academic research. Though its apprentices weren't individually strong in combat, its theoretical knowledge and emphasis on research training far surpassed the three institutions in Turin.
"We’ve arrived."
After traveling for over ten minutes, Vinnie announced that the boat had reached the shore, and the group disembarked smoothly.
"So this is Watermarsh City—it’s really different from Turin."
Waterways crisscrossed, boats scattered everywhere.
Looking at the city connected by arched bridges, Liji Silks, also new to Watermarsh City like Janna, couldn’t help but sigh once ashore.
"Our lodging is just ahead. Once everyone has placed their luggage, you can head to the first floor for a meal—at five o’clock, I’ll take everyone to the Otter Opera House to familiarize with the venue."
"Thanks for the hard work, Vinnie."
Hearing that Vinnie had everything arranged, David Berg gave him a thumbs-up for his efficiency.
"Janna, where are you going?"
As Liji Silks walked toward the inn, she noticed Janna wasn’t following and turned around, looking puzzled.
"You go ahead. I’m planning to explore a bit on my own."
"Alright then—"
Since Vinnie had already distributed the inn keys and nameplates in advance, Liji Silks wasn’t worried about Janna not being able to get into her room.
Still, watching her silhouette grow distant, the words Liji Silks had intended to say were swallowed back down.
"Forget it, we’ll explore together tonight—"
"Thump—thump—"
Feeling the plant-based magical power in her body grow more active and her heart beating uncontrollably, Janna soon stopped in front of a grand-looking building, following the clues from the Blue-Level Mission Reward.
"This is it."
Even though the image of this building had only flashed briefly in the clue from the Fragment of the Law of Growth,
Janna, who possessed Exceptional Memory, could never be mistaken.
"Watermarsh Auction House—"
