Husband you've abandoned me. Fine, I'll focus on raising my son

Chapter 299: Finding help

ANTHONY’S POV

I slowly stood up as I looked down at my body that was hurting all over. I could see the blood dripping down my arms but I could couldn’t see the colour in.

"Marco are you okay?" I asked him. As I turned to look at him he has dropped to the ground.

"Yeah," he coughed out as he stood up as well. He away the dust from his .

"Come back here!" We heard the man from inside the estate said he sounded like he was climbing up the wall.

"Yeah!" He replied in pain.

"We have to go now," I said.

We immediately started running. There was a field that contained long dry grass that came up to our necks. Almost couldn’t see anything where we were. There were no other house was directly next to Uncle’s estate.

"There’s a road in this direction," Marco said as he guided me whilst we ran.

I squinted my eyes and tried to see the road ahead but couldn’t see much.It was kind of dark, with the moonlight serving as our primary source of light. I was trusting Marco’s word. He lived here for a long time so I knew he knew the area well. It when i saw the lights of a car passing by that I finally comfirmed that there was a road.

We had to get to the open area ahead now.

As we neared the road I hoped another car would pass by that we could signal for help.

I heard the voice of the man behind us in the distance. We had to distance ourselves from him.

We were about to reach a road when I saw two figures round the corner ahead from the wall. they flashed flashlights in our direction.

"They must be here," I heard one of them say. They had come from uncle’s estate. The other man had already told on us.

Marco and turned behind us to the direction we had come from and saw the other man who was chasing after us flashing his own light from behind us and catching up fast.

"They are coming from both sides!" Marco said in a panic.

"This way," I said to him. I pulled his arm and had us run in the opposite direction from the estate. We would run parallel to the road.

We ran as fast as we could knowing there were three people chasing after us. My foot caught on soemthing and i almost trip.

Marco grabbed my arm and oulled me back so i could continue running with no issue. "Careful, the ground isn’t even since the house is kind of on a hill."

I recalled when we first arrived. Throught the tinted windows I saw the house was in a hilly area where there few houses spread out across the mountain. I remember seeing atleats two other houses on the drive to the estate. Perhaps we could ask the neighbors for help if there weren’t any cars that passed by.

We were currently running downhill.

As the minutes passed on as we ran, I heard the foosteps behind us draw closer to us. Where are they?" A man yelled. Their voices sounded close as well.

I looked behind and my eyes widened in fear.

I realized we were in trouble. We weren’t going to get far before we got caught. They were a few metres behind us and their flashlights were soon going to land on us. Not to mention there were even more flashlights flashing further in the distance.

"We have to hide," I told Marco bretahlessly.

"Okay," he replied tired as well.

We were getting tired now as well. We couldn’t keep running forever.

"There is an area not far from here down the hill with large rocks in the grass we can hide behind them.

It was moments later when Marco pulled my arm and directed us where to go.

"Here," Marco said as he slipped down the hill and to an area with large rocks. We immediately let tried.

We hid behind the first rock and immediately began to take haggard breaths as we caught our breaths.

We looked back the way we came and saw the flaslights flashing a short distance away.

"Lets go this way," Marco said pointing to our left. "Further from the lights. I think it will be harder for them to find us from there."

I nodded and followed him. We ran a short distance and hid behind another large rock. My muscles were aching already. Marco and I looked back and saw the men had reached the rocks.

"Spread out they have to be close," one of the men said.

Marco and I hid further behind the rock so they wouldn’t see us. Luckily, the men went past us.

"We need to get help now," I said to Marco once I felt we were safe. "How far are the other houses from here? Maybe we can ask one of the neighbors for help."

"The next house is a little bit further down but maybe we make it there in a few minutes," he asked me.

"Lets go there, then," I said. He nodded his head in agreement.

Once we felt the coast was clear we slowly continued down the hill making our to the house. I wated us to walk along the road so we could signal for help if a car passed by us we could ask them for help. However, Marco said we might get caught with his father’s men probbaly keeping an eye on the road now.

We occasionally checked behind us to make sure no one was following. Unfortunately for Marco and I my uncle’s men were already ahead. Making the task of avoiding them even harder.

When we got to the second house several of the guards were near and around and the house.

We hid behind a tree as we watched the house. "There’s too many of them I don’t think we can ask for help from here." I told Marco.

"We’ll have to try the third house then," he replied. We continued moving down the hill I folowed Marco who knew the mountain better than me. I was really glad he agreed to escape with me.

The street was quiet aside from the noise of unce’s men looking for us.

We were met with dissapointment when we got to the third house. It again like the last house had uncle men around and near the house.

"Now what do we do?" Marco asked me as we hid behind a large rock in the grass frield across the house.

"Do you know another house near the mountain if we try to leave and get help from there?" I asked him.

Marco shook his head. "I know from this mountain the next neighborhood is a bit far I don’t know if we could make it or how to get there."

My lips scrunched up as I wondered what we should do. We didn’t know "We can wait and try to ring at the gate of the house here when the guards aren’t looking and see if someone answers?"

"Okay, lets try," he agreed.

For several moments we watched fro the rock waiting for the guards to move.

A car came into view and I turned around to look in the direction.

"Come here!" a familar voice yelled after us. Marco and I looked to find his father coming toward us.

"Shoot! They found us!" I screamed out.

If uncle got us it was over for me. He was going to kill me.

"Got you! You idiots!" my uncle yelled.

Marco and I tried to run in the opposite direct to avoid my uncle. Unfortunately I felt something quickly grab my collar. I felt my suddenly lifted. I’d been caught.

I violently wriggled to free myself but it didn’t help. I saw and heard Marco struggling whilst being held in uncle’s other arm.

"It’s over for you two when we get back to the house," he threatened.

My heart was pounding hard in my chest in fear. It was over for me now. Marco said himself, uncle was a dangerous man. Please I didn’t want to die. I didn’t want things to end like this.

"Let my son go!" I then heard an oddly familar voice shout. My eyes widned and I looked in the direction the voice had come from. In the dimlight of the yardlights I could make out a familar frame facing my uncle. They were pointing a gun at him too.

"Mum?" I said in shock.
