Chapter 99 : Helping Others
Chapter 99: Helping Others
At night, after seeing Melia, Nyx headed to Garcia Village.
Corleon was performing his evening prayer.
"It is already late at night. Have you come with some question in mind?"Corleon spoke without turning his head.
"No, I have no question. I only wish for the bishop to permit me to preach at the Small Church in Adams Village,"Agamemnon said.
Since moving into the Grand Church, the nightly Q&A sessions that used to happen at the Flower Church had ceased.
"Is it because of Ando?"
"Yes,"Agamemnon slightly lowered his head.
"Are you afraid?"
"Yes, I am afraid,"Agamemnon replied.
"I love my grandmother. I do not wish to one day face the conflict between Faith and hatred as Ando did.”
"I hope to erase the possibility of such things happening from the root."
"You should trust your grandmother,"Corleon said.
"Ando also trusted his sister,"Agamemnon responded.
"That is the original sin buried deep in the heart. What is meant to happen will always happen. What is not meant to happen will naturally not,"Corleon said.
"That is a sin that will not vanish. As a Servant of the Lord, I should spread the Lord’s Teachings and guide people toward good,"Agamemnon responded.
"Only when everyone turns to goodness and believes in the Lord can original sin be restrained."
Corleon stood up and turned to look at Agamemnon.
The boy stood at the boundary of light and shadow, still slightly bowing, as if in plea.
"You are still too young, not yet suited to bear the duty of preaching,"Corleon still refused.
Agamemnon appeared somewhat disheartened.
"But I will have your grandmother send some sufficiently devout believers to the Monastery. Once they are deemed qualified, they will be sent back to Adams Village to preach,"Corleon said.
"Thank you for your mercy,"Agamemnon breathed a sigh of relief and said.
Corleon shook his head."Go back and rest. It is important to maintain good sleep at night."
"Yes."
After Agamemnon left, Olivia’s figure appeared inside the Church.
"Father, shall I catch up to Ando and kill him?"She stood in the darkness and spoke very directly.
Corleon frowned.
"He is your friend,"Corleon said.
"He harbors hatred in his heart. He has gone to find his brother, and his brother is very likely to earn merit while fighting under the Lord’s command. Later, he may be conferred Knighthood. By then, they could cause trouble for the Church."
"I believe that under the current conditions, the risk should be eliminated at its source,"Olivia said.
"That will only breed more hatred. Even if Ando is killed, his brother will still find out,"Corleon tried to persuade.
"Then kill his brother too."
"His brother is currently still in the Lord’s army, and it is not just the Lord’s army there, but also the Northern Allied Forces of the Principality."
"I can try."
"..—You should go rest for now. I will handle these matters,"Corleon felt a headache coming on.
"Yes, Father. When the time comes to act, please let me know,"Olivia said at last.
After Olivia left, Corleon couldn’t help but sigh.
"So, what have you come to say?"he asked.
The first pew bathed in light slightly twisted, and then Cicero’s figure appeared.
"I’m just a bit worried about those two,"Cicero scratched his head awkwardly.
"Aside from those two, you're also worried about Ando, aren’t you?"Corleon shook his head.
"Ahaha—." Cicero laughed awkwardly.
"That Olivia girl—no wonder her family sent her to the Church and asked for your teachings,"Cicero changed the subject.
"At such a young age, and already with such a strong killing intent. I really wonder how her biological parents raised her."
"It’s far too irresponsible."
Corleon merely looked silently at Cicero.
"..——But it seems there's nothing else, so I'll go back to rest,"Cicero said.
Under that gaze, he felt as if the pew beneath him still had some wooden splinters left unpolished.
"By the way, Bishop, the Monastery will be completed in five days. At that time, do you think it should be arranged like the Sanctuary?"Cicero asked before leaving.
"No need. The Monastery is a place for study. Once it's built, normal use will suffice."
"Yes."
Two days later, Knight Wolf arrived at the Church.
At the Church entrance, Corleon welcomed Knight Wolf.
"Good day, Bishop Corleon,"Wolf slightly bowed.
"Good day, Knight Wolf,"Corleon returned the greeting, then gestured for Knight Wolf to enter the Church.
"Compared to the previous Small Church, this Church is much cleaner now,"Wolf glanced around the Church and said.
"Sir Pegiraov is far more generous than Sir Helvin,"Corleon responded.
Knight Wolf merely let out a sigh.
Though he now served Pegiraov, he had ultimately been conferred Knighthood by Helvin.
"I heard from Nyx that you’ve already ended the dark creatures’ invasion in the west?"Corleon asked.
"Not yet. I only killed the dark creature carrying a Holy Relic in Baron Sacker’s territory,"Knight Wolf said.
"The war over there is still ongoing, but our people can start withdrawing slowly."
"The current situation there aligns more with our interests."
"Moreover, the few over there do not wish for us to be too involved.
"Baron Sacker hoped I would leave him a Holy Relic. This time, his losses were too great and he needed compensation."
"But after I killed one of his sons in front of him, he never brought it up again."
"He even handed over the Mystery in his territory’s Church to me, as compensation from the York Territory for helping him deal with the dark creature invasion."
Wolf’s tone was calm.
"Truly a generous baron,"Corleon replied.
"Yes, Baron Sacker is very generous—not only to me,"Wolf said.
"This time, half the population in his territory was lost, and the war there still isn’t over. He needs more people to settle in his domain, especially those who can bring warriors."
Corleon sat down and looked at Wolf.
"You mean to say, he will invite those from the Gentry Manors of the York Territory to help him?"
"He doesn’t have that kind of courage,"Knight Wolf said. "Someone contacted him on their own."
"And he handed their letters over to me."
"Those people didn’t just contact him, but also two other barons."
"It seems our local gentry are still very eager to help others,"Corleon laughed.
"Yes. So, Bishop, do you think we should support their kindness?
"Knight Wolf asked.
