Chapter 147 ‒ Shattered Divinity
Chapter 147 ‒ Shattered Divinity
A sudden violent flash from his system interface made Tyler’s heart seize mid-beat.
[Enemy Identified: ????] [Species: ????]
[Level ????] [HP: 9999/9999]
A cold shiver lanced through his spine. Almost ten thousand HP… is this a joke?
Beside him, Shindeon’s massive form trembled. Drops of molten sweat sizzled down his jawline, his grip tightening on his blackened blade. Tyler glanced at him, a quiet resolve flickering in his eyes. If even a god is trembling… then it’s okay for me to be afraid, too.
Tyler inhaled sharply, gripping his swords. “Shindeon! I’ll try to distract him, you—”
“Silence, mortal!” Shindeon barked, rage rippling in his molten voice. “I do not take orders from you! I fight for my own reasons — to reclaim my sanctuary, not to serve your petty desires!”
Shindeon roared and lunged, driving a brutal kick toward Yandeon. A flood of appendages snapped toward him, each blade and claw piercing his armour, sinking deep into his molten flesh.
With a furious howl, Shindeon shoved forward, driving his sword deep into Yandeon’s chest. A searing glow erupted as he activated [Firestorm], burning away several limbs into charred husks. Shindeon fell back, trails of smoke rising from open wounds.
Tyler charged in without hesitation, his body swelling once more as he activated [Gigantify]. He rammed into Yandeon’s side, but the monstrosity barely flinched. Tyler’s hand darted to Shindeon’s sword still embedded in Yandeon’s torso. He shoved it deeper, then yanked it outward in a savage arc. Putrid blood erupted, splashing in steaming sheets.
Tyler swung again, severing two wings before tossing the sword back toward Shindeon in a glittering arc. As he shrank back to normal size, Shindeon snatched the blade from the air with a feral grin and charged forward, piercing Yandeon’s core.
A chorus of tentacles and appendages swarmed around him, but Shindeon roared, fire bursting from his scales as he immolated everything in a burning cyclone. Tyler’s heart pounded wildly. Yes… this is it! We can do this!
A system notification flickered.
[???? HP: 9723/9999]
Tyler’s eyes widened in disbelief. “All that effort… and we’ve barely scratched him?!”
He glanced at his own status.
[Tyler HP: 429/900]
[Shindeon HP: 1067/5000]
His gut twisted. Shindeon was haemorrhaging strength, and Tyler was already nearing collapse. Despair threatened to claw at his resolve — but then, a subtle golden glow caught his eye.
His skill window shimmered faintly, as if beckoning him. Tyler’s eyes darted to one icon — an old skill he hadn’t touched since that day. Raven’s Eye.
His breath caught. The memory slammed into him like a blade to the ribs — Milo’s face, pale and still, his laughter echoing in a room now soaked in blood. The world that day had twisted into a blur of grief and guilt. That was the moment Raven’s Eye had manifested — born not from triumph, but from raw desperation and regret.
Tyler’s hand trembled violently. He had sworn never to look at this skill again. It wasn’t just another tool; it was a scar, a constant reminder of his failure to protect the person he loved most.
Yet, as his gaze lingered on the icon, it pulsed brighter, the glow almost alive — as though someone were reaching out from the depths of his own pain.
A voice, soft and achingly familiar, drifted through the haze of memory: “You can still protect them… this time, don’t let go.”
Tyler swallowed hard, his vision blurring with sudden tears. His fingers hovered for a moment longer, shaking, before finally pressing down.

[Activated Skill: Raven’s Eye]
An explosion of pain sliced through the left side of his head, his vision fracturing into swirling red waves. His left eye flared an intense, dark crimson, an otherworldly glow bleeding into the night.
He looked down at his boots — and gasped. He could see through them. Not just through the leather and cloth, but down to the very lines of his muscles, the fine lattice of his bones, pulsing with ethereal light.
A system message hovered before him.
[Skill: Raven’s Eye]
[Allows the user to detect vulnerable points in enemy physiology. PE Cost: 3]
Tyler raised his gaze slowly. Yandeon loomed before him, a writhing mountain of twisted biology and luminous malice.
But through the chaos of limbs and scales, Tyler could now see it: clusters of flickering red points, swirling beneath his armour, beneath his hideous mutations — like weak knots in a spider’s web.
Tyler inhaled, a tremor rippling through his fingers. Then, his lips curved into a small, feral grin.
“Shindeon!” he called, his voice steady as stone. “I found it — the way to bring this monster down.”
The moon above seemed to shudder as Tyler’s crimson eye gleamed brighter, the final battle poised on the razor’s edge.
Shindeon didn’t reply — he simply roared and charged forward, his molten blade blazing with wrath. As Yandeon swung an enormous scorpion tail, Shindeon rolled under it, then rose with an upward cleave that lopped off two jagged appendages in an explosion of black ichor.
Tyler stood back, his breath sharp and rhythmic. Focus… the points. One at a time.
He donned his battered Storm wizard hat, lightning already crackling up his arms like living veins. His crimson eye flared, each vulnerable point now burning like small dying stars.
“Let’s start,” he whispered.
[Activated Skill: Lightning Bolt]
A spear of lightning tore the night, striking a cluster of weak points in Yandeon’s left shoulder. Flesh buckled and exploded outward, several mutated limbs convulsing before collapsing.
[???? HP: 9400/9999]
Yandeon shrieked, a deafening wail that rattled the very stones beneath them. “I am immortal! I cannot lose to vermin! You — you are nothing!”
Tyler’s expression hardened. “Is this what you dreamed of, Yandeon? Immortality? Now look at you… a chimera so grotesque even the system cannot name you. Are you even yourself anymore?”
Yandeon’s dozens of eyes glared, his jaws splitting wide as he spat a torrent of corrosive sludge. Shindeon deflected it with a shield of flame, but his knees buckled, molten blood dripping from his wounds.
Tyler kept moving, each step light and measured despite the chaos. His eye locked onto another point — a tangled nerve cluster at the base of Yandeon’s neck.
[Activated Skill: Lightning Bolt]
The bolt seared through the air, punching straight into the node. Yandeon’s elongated neck snapped back violently, his tentacles whipping at random, severing some of his own appendages.
[???? HP: 9100/9999]
Shindeon groaned, staggered. Tyler noticed the HP bar flickering wildly:
[Shindeon HP: 673/5000]
Tyler felt a surge of panic, but clenched his jaw. Not yet. We can’t give up.
He reached out, hand glowing faint green.
[Activated Skill: Rejuvenate]
[Shindeon HP: 1423/5000]
Streams of shimmering energy flowed into Shindeon’s scorched frame. Shindeon snarled, his fangs clashing. “I do not need your pathetic healing magic, mortal!”
Tyler yelled back, “Then let me be pathetic! Just focus on keeping him busy!”
Shindeon roared and slammed his blade down, cleaving more limbs. Yandeon screeched, lashing at him with wing blades, scoring deep, smoking gouges into Shindeon’s molten chest.
Tyler shifted sideways, targeting a cluster deep in Yandeon’s abdomen. Steady… this next one…
[Activated Skill: Lightning Bolt]
A thunderous crack split the air, the bolt tearing open the torso cluster in a spray of rancid ichor and glowing fragments. Yandeon staggered back, appendages flailing helplessly.
[???? HP: 7022/9999]
Yandeon’s voice fractured into a frenzied chorus of shrieks. “No… my perfect form! I am divine! You cannot—!”
Another bolt. Another red point — Tyler’s attacks became a rhythm, each strike dropping fragments of wings, tearing lumps of fused flesh. Shindeon’s sword severed limbs in tandem, an infernal waltz of steel and flame.
[???? HP: 5023/9999]
Yandeon reeled. His massive tail split at the base, flopping uselessly as sparks of black energy spilled from it.
[???? HP: 3450/9999]
Tyler’s eye scanned frantically, locking onto a flickering point hidden deep in Yandeon’s left hip joint. He shifted sideways, electricity spiralling up his arm like a living serpent.
[Activated Skill: Lightning Bolt]
The crackling spear shot forward, exploding into the joint with brutal precision. Yandeon’s entire lower torso twisted, a chorus of snapping tendons echoing like a chorus of cracking whips. Several legs gave way, sending his towering form lurching and collapsing forward.
[???? HP: 2890/9999]
Shindeon seized the opening with a feral roar, his molten blade whistling as it carved down through a cluster of writhing appendages, severing them like brittle branches. Black ichor sprayed across the cratered ground, burning fissures into the already scarred plateau.
[???? HP: 2225/9999]
Yandeon shrieked, a warbling sound like a thousand dying animals. His remaining limbs flailed wildly, tearing gouges into the stone and sky alike. Tyler felt his PE meter sputter, his muscles screaming from exhaustion.
But he pressed forward, eye still burning red, scanning for the final critical point.
“Why… Why won’t you all just die?!” Yandeon screamed, his voice unravelling into primal madness. “I am perfection! I am the ultimate being!”
Tyler’s fingers trembled as he drew in one final breath. “One last point… one last chance…”
He saw it: a swirling, crimson core pulsing just beneath Yandeon’s warped skull.
Tyler lunged, lightning charging down his blade.
