The System Seas

On your ship, this skill allows for the expenditure of magic power to hinder the movement of an enemy ship, either in terms of its intended course corrections, its speed, or both. The effects are larger or smaller based on both your power and the ability of the enemy ship to resist them.

When used on foot, Currents of the Doomed acts as a guided debuff, allowing you to slightly alter the course of enemy blows, slow enemy steps, or otherwise hinder what a single combatant is trying to do. The range of this skill is short, intentionally limited to your immediate melee range.
