The System Seas

Chapter 12: Upgrade

Savage Shipwright

You will go further and further from specialists as you chase the horizon, far outside where help becomes undependable and one must rely on themselves. This skill is meant to make that experience survivable, allowing you to patch holes in your ship, maintain its overall integrity, and finally find your way home.

When you attempt to repair or upgrade a ship, the Savage Shipwright skill will guide your hands. Nails will sink deeper, tar will hold tighter, and your holds will stay drier than you could have ever imagined.

In addition, the range of materials you can effectively use for repairs goes up. While higher quality materials will do a better job, you can patch your ship effectively with little better than driftwood. Better materials will improve both the chances and the speed of ship upgrades.

Failure to successfully upgrade your ship comes with the penalty of lost time, but will revert the ship back to its former condition with no other downsides once the original ship upgrade waiting period has expired.
