Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 1022 - 146: A World Like a Pile of Crap and the Origins of the Green Knight

After receiving the dwarven news, Su Li summoned Demster to his presence through Hilude.

This recently elusive Divine Chosen of Mole did not report his work, and Su Li suspected he might have gone off sightseeing somewhere.

So Su Li waited for him in the meeting room on purpose. When Hilude led him in, he immediately bowed and greeted, "Greetings, Lord. May Divine Grace forever shine upon you."

Su Li stared into his eyes, not allowing him to rise, and said with displeasure, "Demster, you’d better explain what you’ve been busy with lately. It’s been over a month, almost two months. The dwarves have cleared and reclaimed the Frost Fang Mountain Range, and yet you haven’t found out about those Green Ghost Cavalry under the Blue Mirror Lake? How is it that little Blue Mirror Lake is more complex than the Frost Fang Mountain Range?"

Demster had a ready retort: "Lord, this is very normal. You must know that our understanding of deep lakes is far less than that of mountains and the sky."

"Of course, thanks to the effect of our Crimson Pearl, our exploration in Blue Mirror Lake has yielded some results."

"So please allow me to introduce a Wandering Knight from the Mole Church to you."

Su Li still remembered the wanderers from the Mole Church. It could be said that Demster built that Rapids Castle Watchtower Gate precisely to attract wanderers.

So he asked, "Has the influence of your Holy Land already started to show?"

"Indeed, Lord." Demster kept his bowing posture, but his voice carried an unmistakable pride, "This wanderer is indeed one of those who came to Rapids Castle under our Holy Land’s influence. He is not a War Knight known for sword and shield, but a ’Secret Seeker’ who walks the Forgotten Land and deciphers the whispers of death, a most unique ’Tomb Scholar’ and ’Friend of the Departed’ under Mole. His name is Carlos Vidal, or, by a more widely known title—’Voice of the Tomb’."

"Voice of the Tomb?" Su Li raised an eyebrow, showing some interest in the title.

You see, within his territory, there indeed was a very ancient tomb, possibly over 5000 years old, that had never been excavated or buried. It was the Elf collective tomb in the Valley of Memory.

A tomb over 5000 years old, who knows what might be inside.

If there really was such an expert in grave exploration, the impact would not only affect the outcome of the battle at Blue Mirror Castle but also greatly benefit the future development of the territory.

Therefore, Su Li patiently waved at Demster, indicating, "Well, take a seat and tell me about this Voice of the Tomb."

"Thank you, Lord." Demster immediately straightened up, swiftly pulling up a chair and sitting next to Su Li. His expression turned focused, yet the tales he told were full of narrative flair: "Knight Carlos’ legend begins with his extraordinary childhood. He was born in a remote village near an ancient graveyard. It’s said that, even as an infant, he would giggle at seemingly empty corners, as if playing with unseen entities. As he grew older, he often snuck into grave clusters regarded as forbidden by villagers, quietly sitting beside tombstones for entire afternoons. Initially, villagers thought he was cursed, but later realized he could seemingly ’hear’ and ’feel’ the whispers and echoes left by those asleep."

Demster’s tone carried a hint of fascination: "This was not a curse, but a rare gift from Mole—a natural, extremely intimate connection with the world of the dead. An old Mole Priest in the area discovered his uniqueness and took him as an apprentice. Under the priest and church’s guidance, Carlos learned how to control this gift, how to distinguish harmless echoes from truly resentful grievances needing appeasement, and by the time he became an Apprentice Knight, he had already mastered the Divine Magic, Mole’s Word."

At this point, Demster’s expression turned quite exaggerated: "An Apprentice Knight! I even suspect he might be Mole’s illegitimate child. You know, the vast majority of Mole Knights only receive Mole’s Divine Grace during the operational phase. Even I had to endure countless battles, only obtaining my first divine spell after becoming a formal knight. This guy, mastering the Divine Magic, Mole’s Word, as an Apprentice Knight, is simply unheard of!"

No wonder Demster’s expression became so exaggerated, his tone almost jealous to the point of separation. You see, most divine spirits in this world are greedy and stingy, and even the most generous Dawn Goddess, Reya, bestows divine magic only after the formal phase.

Knight Carlos being blessed by the divine in his apprentice phase, no wonder Demster wondered if he was Mole’s illegitimate son.

But is it really okay to secretly imply derogatory things about one’s divine spirit? Perhaps it’s just those quirky knights of Mole who would do such a thing.

Demster, however, didn’t find anything amiss, and continued speaking eloquently, "His faith does not stem from dogma, but from an innate understanding and closeness to the world of the dead. He vowed to become a bridge between the living and the dead, to decipher the stories buried by time, appease lost souls, and protect those resting places that should not be disturbed. Therefore, he chose to become a ’Wandering Knight’, walking with a knight’s resilience among the most ancient and dangerous ruins and tombs, fulfilling his unique mission."
