Chapter 811: The Worst Omen
Passing through the mountain gate at the front is the Great Hall. Yun Jiao offered incense, took You Er from Wanyan Zhang’s hands, and knelt on the ground, bowing earnestly.
After bowing, the Abbot beside her struck the chime.
Yun Jiao did not rise; she looked up at the Buddha above her for a long time, silently praying something in her heart.
Wanyan Zhang, who never believed in deities or Buddha, knelt down at this moment and bowed to the Buddha.
Yun Jiao got up and moved to the second hall, lit incense again inside, and then bowed to The Bodhisattva Guanyin.
Wanyan Zhang could feel Yun Jiao’s sincerity, and for a moment, his heart wavered. Perhaps he shouldn’t have doubted her; maybe she really just wanted to fulfill a vow.
After bowing, the attending Abbot struck the chime again, "I wonder if the lady benefactor wishes to draw a lot? The lots at Zhaoti Temple are known to be very accurate."
Yun Jiao smiled and shook her head, "No, thank you."
She turned to leave, but Wanyan Zhang said, "I wish to draw a lot."
The Abbot bent over to bring down the lot urn and asked Wanyan Zhang, "I wonder what the Prince would like to inquire about?"
Wanyan Zhang looked at Yun Jiao and said, "I wish to inquire about marriage."
He lifted his robe and knelt on the prayer mat, clasped his hands together, and then took the lot urn to shake it.
Before long, a lot fell out.
The Abbot then offered a pair of divination blocks, signaling for Wanyan Zhang to cast them.
Wanyan Zhang cast three winning blocks, and only then did the Abbot pick up the bamboo lot, "Lot number thirty-nine, this monk will interpret the lot for the Prince."
The Abbot turned to the lot strip and was immediately taken aback.
Wanyan Zhang noticed his strange expression and pulled off the lot strip himself to read the words on it.
Lot Thirty-nine: Jiang Nu Seeks Husband, Bad Lot
News from the horizon should be hard to ask
Do not harbor private desires and seek forcefully
If you grind a stone into a mirror
Your efforts will be in vain and it will end in a moment of rest
Wanyan Zhang’s face darkened as he forcefully crumpled the lot strip into a ball and threw it to the ground, "What nonsense is this, not accurate at all!"
As he spoke, he grabbed Yun Jiao and walked out.
Yun Jiao did not know what was written on the lot strip, but she estimated it was not something good.
Yang Ying, holding You Er, hurriedly followed.
Wanyan Zhang walked faster and faster, and Yun Jiao struggled to keep up.
She gently called out, "Prince, slow down."
"Even if the lot is bad, there is no need to be angry. These things, if you believe in them, they exist; if not, they don’t."
Wanyan Zhang slightly slowed his pace and gripped Yun Jiao’s hand tighter.
The two walked out of Zhaoti Temple and saw the carriage parked not far from the entrance, surrounded by five hundred personal soldiers.
Yun Jiao suddenly stopped, "I will carry You Er." Saying so, she pulled away from Wanyan Zhang’s hand, walked back a few steps, and took You Er from Yang Ying’s arms.
She quickly said something to Yang Ying, "Live well, I will definitely send someone to pick you up."
Yang Ying was a bit perplexed, not knowing what Yun Jiao meant.
Yun Jiao turned around and looked at Wanyan Zhang.
Wanyan Zhang stood about seven or eight steps away from her, looking at her with a deep gaze.
Yun Jiao suddenly smiled at him, "Take care of yourself, Prince. Our fate is over, and there will be no day to meet again in this life."
Upon hearing Yun Jiao’s words, Wanyan Zhang’s face changed drastically. He yelled, "What nonsense are you talking!" and charged towards Yun Jiao.
He was extremely fast, but just as he was about to touch Yun Jiao’s robes, holding the child, Yun Jiao suddenly disappeared in front of him.
Wanyan Zhang reached out but grasped nothing.
He looked at the empty ground in front of him in disbelief.
Then he turned and looked around.
There were only servants, maidservants, and soldiers; she was nowhere to be seen.
