Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes

Chapter 427: Pie From The Sky

"I’ve rented an apartment for you and your sister," she said casually. "You can move there."

She paused briefly, as if recalling something.

"And I’ll arrange a job for you soon," she added. "You won’t need to worry about expenses."

Her gaze softened slightly. "As for the money... we’ll talk about it after your sister is fully cured."

For a second, neither Sean nor Baron reacted. It felt unreal.

’This... this is like a pie falling straight from the sky...’

Sean’s brows slowly furrowed. Suspicion crept in.

"Why... are you doing so much for us?" he asked cautiously.

The moment those words left his mouth... Lana blinked.

And then, tears welled up in her eyes.

They gathered quickly, shimmering under the dim light before slipping down her cheeks.

Sean’s heart clenched violently.

It felt as though something had stabbed straight through his chest. It wasn’t romance.

It was something deeper... an instinct, raw and protective, that he couldn’t even begin to explain.

Lana looked at him, her voice trembling.

"You just called me your sister..." she said softly, her eyes glistening. "And now you won’t even let me do anything for you?"

Sean panicked immediately.

"No... no, that’s not it!" he said hurriedly. "You don’t need to cry... please, don’t cry."

But Lana shook her head. The tears didn’t stop.

"No," she murmured stubbornly. "Unless you agree... I won’t..."

Her voice broke. She sniffled, her shoulders trembling slightly as soft sobs escaped her.

Sean was completely at a loss. ’Did I... bully her somehow...?’

He looked utterly helpless. Beside him, Baron’s expression changed.

Where he had once thought Lana was being unreasonable, he now found himself glaring at Sean with clear disapproval.

’How could you make her cry like that?’

Sean felt even more guilty under that gaze.

"Alright, alright!" he said quickly, raising his hands in surrender. "I agree. Please... stop crying."

Almost instantly... the tears vanished. As if they had never been there.

Lana smiled brightly, her expression returning to its usual calm.

"My car is ready," she said cheerfully. "Let’s go."

With that, she turned and walked ahead. Sean and Baron stood there, stunned.

Baron slowly turned to Sean, his face filled with disbelief.

"Did you... save a galaxy in your past life or something?" he asked. "How are you this lucky?"

Sean let out a quiet breath, though a hint of caution lingered in his eyes.

"Good things don’t happen without a reason," he said slowly. "There has to be... something behind this."

Baron paused, then nodded. But after a moment, Sean’s expression softened.

"As long as my sister gets cured," he added quietly, "even if she has her own motives... I won’t complain."

His gaze turned firm. "She’s already helping me. I won’t be ungrateful."

Baron nodded in agreement.

............

Soon, Sean stepped out carrying his unconscious sister in his arms. Her body felt light, fragile, and unnaturally cold against his chest.

He carefully placed her inside the car.

The moment he saw the luxurious interior, the smooth leather seats, his body tensed.

For a second, he almost trembled. But he held himself back.

Gently, he laid his sister beside Lana, making sure she was comfortable.

After that, he retrieved a small suitcase. They didn’t own much.

Just a few essentials, packed neatly into a single case.

Once everything was loaded, he took the front seat.

Lana glanced at the driver. "Head toward Hill Road," she instructed calmly.

The driver nodded.

But his eyes flickered briefly toward Sean, a trace of suspicion in his gaze.

Sean noticed. Subconsciously, he adjusted his posture, careful not to dirty anything.

’Don’t mess this up...’

...........

When they arrived at Hill Road, the surroundings changed drastically.

Lana stepped out first and gently lifted the little girl into her arms.

Sean followed, his eyes widening as he looked around.

When she had mentioned renting an apartment, he had imagined something modest, perhaps a small house near the city gates.

But this...this was a well-developed residential area.

Neat pathways, sturdy buildings, and most importantly... a protective aura lingered faintly in the air.

It was guarded by a local priest. And that alone meant everything.

If a ghost ever entered this area, the priest would exorcise it... for free.

Sean stood there, stunned. ’This... is far beyond anything I imagined...’

It could be said that by bringing him into this residential society, Lana had quietly handed Sean another lifeline.

As he stepped into the apartment, his breath caught.

The floors were spotless, the furniture elegant yet comfortable, and everything, from the neatly arranged cushions to the subtle décor, spoke of quiet luxury.

Sean stood there, frozen in place. ’This... this is an apartment?’

His eyes moved slowly, almost afraid to take it all in at once.

It was huge. Clean. Fully furnished. And even with his limited knowledge, he could tell... it was expensive. Very expensive.

If Lana could hear his thoughts, she would have simply nodded.

The apartment was costly, but with the money she had accumulated over time, affording it was nothing more than a trivial expense.

After settling everything, Sean turned toward her, guilt evident in his eyes.

"I... I don’t understand why you’re doing so much for me," he said quietly. "But I swear... I’ll repay you."

Lana waved her hand dismissively, as if brushing aside something insignificant. Her gaze shifted toward his sister instead.

Without another word, she walked over and gently placed her hand on the girl’s forehead.

In the next instant... a faint brownish energy flowed from her palm, slipping into the girl’s body like a warm current.

Sean’s breath hitched.

His sister, who had been pale and lifeless just moments ago, suddenly looked... different.

Color returned to her cheeks. Her breathing steadied. The fragile, deathly aura around her began to fade, replaced by a soft, healthy glow.

Sean’s eyes widened in shock.

"This..." he whispered, looking at Lana as if seeing her for the first time.

Lana withdrew her hand calmly.

"Every mystic cultivator possesses healing energy to some extent," she said.
