Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes

Chapter 649: Sophia In Trouble

Mr. Crow looked at Lana in shock. "You are his granddaughter?"

Lana rolled her eyes. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

With that, she retorted at Mr Crow, "That granddaughter is far more beautiful than I am. Even though I could not see her face clearly, it was obvious that she was not me."

Mr Crow nodded solemnly.

"Thank God. I almost thought that you were some kind of big shot."

Lana laughed, and the two of them continued walking away from the courtyard.

Meanwhile, the old man known as Grandpa Chen quietly lifted the pot containing the various dishes Lana had prepared.

A faint smile appeared on his weathered face as the warmth of the food drifted toward him.

His gaze slowly moved toward the refrigerator, where a sticky note had been placed with all the dishes he liked written on it.

Other than his granddaughter, no one could understand what dishes he wanted to eat simply by looking at that note.

And other than his granddaughter, no one else would have been willing to endure his endless tantrums and peculiar temper.

Perhaps that was why the warmth in his chest felt so unfamiliar now.

’This time she visited me twice... and even made her signature dishes extra just to keep me happy... she hasn’t changed.’

Meanwhile, Lana soon arrived at the agreed location where she had asked Sophia to meet her. However, even after waiting for a long time, she still did not see Sophia anywhere.

Lana frowned slightly.

’Where did she go? Could she have gotten into some kind of disagreement?’

She had wanted to tell Sophia everything she had discovered about Grandpa Chen and the ghost domain, but it seemed that before she could reveal anything, she first had to find her missing friend.

Lana glanced at Mr Crow. "Go and search the surrounding area."

Mr Crow let out a long, exhausted sigh.

"Sometimes I wonder whether I am just your pet beast or some kind of messenger who has to run around searching for people whenever you give me a single command."

Lana rolled her eyes.

Mr Crow reluctantly flew away, disappearing among the surrounding buildings. Not long afterward, he returned, wearing an unusually strange expression.

He looked at Lana. "Your dear friend has caused trouble."

Lana sighed. "Lead me there."

Soon, she arrived at the area Mr Crow had mentioned.

It was located inside a ghost market, where the narrow streets were filled with the faint murmurs of wandering ghosts.

Sophia had apparently got into an argument with one of the ghost shopkeepers.

According to the shopkeeper, Sophia had touched one of the items in his stall, causing the item to become tainted. He was now demanding that she pay ten kilograms of ethereal gold.

Otherwise, he threatened to take her to court.

"You are lying! I did not even touch it. I only wanted to look at it, and now you are making up lies just to extort money from me!"

Sophia’s voice was filled with frustration, but she was doing her best not to drag the matter to the police.

’If I go to the police, they will definitely realize that I am a human.’

The thought made her palms grow cold.

’What if they recognize me and confine me?’

Sophia had already begun wondering whether she should simply call Lana for help, activate her teleportation talisman, and escape before things became worse.

But before she could do anything, Lana appeared.

She immediately walked over to Sophia, took her hand, and spoke calmly.

"Let’s leave."

Lana pulled out her teleportation talisman and waved it through the air.

The next second, the talisman suddenly froze.

Lana froze as well. She stared at the talisman in her hand. Nothing happened.

Even the shopkeeper stared at them for a moment before bursting into laughter.

"What did you think? You could dine and dash? Dream on. I have a spatial lock placed here."

Lana slowly sighed and turned toward the shopkeeper. "You said she touched that item?"

The shopkeeper nodded confidently.

Lana’s gaze shifted toward the card lying on the table.

"Then what is the use of this card?"

The shopkeeper immediately answered,

"As long as this card is touched by someone, it recognises that person as its master. This card can allow its master to enter a completely independent pocket dimension. Not only that, but precious herbs can even be cultivated inside it."

The moment those words came out, the surrounding ghosts began whispering among themselves.

"Hey, I think this guy is definitely lying. How could there possibly be a pocket dimension where precious herbs can be grown?"

Another ghost shook his head.

"I think he probably had a fight with his wife and is now venting his anger on this poor girl."

Another ghost leaned closer and examined the card.

"But I do think that card looks somewhat legendary."

Suddenly, one of the ghosts shouted, "Hey, wait! I seem to remember that this card really is as legendary as he claims!"

One by one, the surrounding ghosts began sympathising with the shopkeeper.

Lana, however, simply looked toward Sophia. Sophia immediately shook her head.

Lana chuckled softly before turning back toward the shopkeeper.

"If this card recognises its master, then it should react when its master calls it, right?"

The shopkeeper nodded, although a trace of confusion appeared in his eyes. "Of course."

Lana turned toward Sophia. "Go ahead and call it back."

Sophia nodded. "Return to me."

The next second, the card that had been lying quietly on the table suddenly trembled.

Whoosh!

It flew directly toward Sophia and landed in her hand. The entire street fell silent.

For several seconds, not a single ghost made a sound. Then the surrounding ghosts erupted into shouting.

"So she was lying all along?"

"I almost believed that she was innocent!"

"I actually thought the shopkeeper was trying to extort her!"

Meanwhile, Lana slowly turned toward Sophia.

Her gaze was filled with disappointment.

Sophia felt as though her heart had been stabbed by that look. She almost wanted to cry, and at the same time, she desperately wanted to scold Lana.

’How can she doubt me?’

She took a deep breath, trying to suppress her frustration. "I truly do not know what is going on."

Lana remained silent for a moment before turning toward the stall owner. Finally, she nodded.

"All right. I believe it."
