Chapter 169: THE DEMON’S ARRIVAL
"I never thought there would be a hunter stronger than me."
"But even if someone is stronger, I can still fight."
"I can still survive."
"But him..."
He clenched his fist.
"If I fought someone like him..."
"No."
"That wouldn’t even be a battle."
"It would be instant death."
Another hunter, Kotaro, looked up.
Then
The dungeon portals changed.
The atmosphere shifted.
The portals began releasing something different.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Flying monsters emerged.
Wyverns.
Countless wyverns.
They spread across the sky.
The pressure they released was different from the monsters before.
Then
A massive portal appeared.
Far larger than any previous dungeon gate.
The sky trembled.
Something enormous slowly emerged.
A gigantic whale.
Then another.
A creature with a massive horn on its head.
Its entire body was covered in pure black scales.
The monster opened its eyes.
A terrifying presence descended over Japan.
The hunters froze.
Because they knew
This was not another wave.
This was something far worse.
This time, countless wyverns emerged.
Most of them appeared in Tokyo.
Only Tokyo.
It seemed the dungeon itself or whoever was controlling it had sensed that the majority of Japan’s strongest power was concentrated there.
Then
Something enormous emerged from the massive portal.
A gigantic, fully black, scaled demonic beast.
Its body was so enormous that, the moment it emerged, it completely overshadowed the sky.
The areas beneath its body were plunged into darkness.
Everyone looked up in horror.
Then
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Around one thousand wyverns poured out of the portal.
They spread across the sky, covering it completely.
Raito immediately raised his hand.
"Blood Manipulation."
His ability activated.
Instantly
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The blood inside the wyverns exploded simultaneously.
Their bodies burst apart in midair.
But then Raito’s expression changed.
His eyes narrowed as he looked at the gigantic black creature.
"What...?"
He couldn’t sense any blood inside it.
Instead, something else was flowing through its body.
A strange, demonic liquid.
Its entire body seemed to be sustained by that substance rather than blood.
"So that’s why..."
Raito stared at it.
"This thing is different."
The gigantic creature suddenly opened its mouth.
Then
ROOOOOOOAR!
A terrifying roar erupted across Tokyo.
The sound wave spread through the entire city.
Buildings trembled.
Windows shattered.
The ground shook.
Hunters and civilians alike were forced to cover their ears.
Some dropped to their knees from the sheer pressure.
Even the strongest hunters struggled to remain standing.
Raito remained in place.
His eyes stayed fixed on the enormous black beast.
For the first time since the dungeon invasion began
He felt something that made him take the creature seriously.
This wasn’t an ordinary monster.
It was something entirely different.
Most of the S rank hunters were still standing, but they were struggling against the overwhelming pressure.
The civilians inside the protected shelters were also watching everything through the drones. They covered their ears in pain, but the roar didn’t have much effect inside the shelters because of the protective barriers.
Raito stared at the gigantic black demonic beast.
"Just what the hell is this?"
"I’ve gained control of the World Eater Dragon skeleton. It’s now part of my undead army."
"But even with that..."
"If I fight this thing here, it could destroy the entire city."
Its body was simply too enormous.
"I have to take care of it myself."
Raito activated Gravity Flight.
His body immediately lifted off the ground.
Then
BOOM!
He shot into the sky at terrifying speed.
Within seconds, he appeared directly in front of the gigantic black demonic beast.
The creature stared at him.
Its horn suddenly began glowing black.
A massive amount of dark energy gathered around it.
Then
VROOOM!
A gigantic blast of energy shot toward Raito.
Raito immediately dodged.
The blast passed beside him.
He raised his left hand.
SLAM!
He struck the blast, sending it upward.
The massive attack shot into the sky.
BOOM!
It exploded above the city.
Everyone below stopped and looked up.
Then
Something else happened.
A portal opened on the ground.
Dark energy spread from it.
Five figures slowly walked out.
Demons.
They had humanoid appearances, and one of them carried a sword over his shoulder.
But the most frightening thing wasn’t their appearance.
They could talk.
And they were incredibly intelligent.
One of the demons looked toward the humans.
"Hey, humans."
"All of you, get on your knees."
The moment he said those words
BOOM!
A terrifying pressure descended upon the battlefield.
Every weak hunter immediately collapsed to the ground.
Even some of the stronger hunters struggled to remain standing.
But a few S rank hunters resisted the pressure.
They gritted their teeth and remained standing.
Among them was Shota.
Shota stepped forward.
"Demons or whatever you are..."
"You think you’re some big shot?"
He sneered.
"Do you really dare speak to a high ranking hunter like that?"
The demon’s expression darkened.
"You insolent human."
"Do you think you’re some big shot?"
Shota glanced upward.
Raito was still in the sky, facing the gigantic black creature.
I’ve already lost to that bastard once.
And now he thinks he can take all the glory for himself.
Shota turned his gaze back toward the demon.
"If you get down on your knees now..."
He grinned.
"At least I’ll make your death as miserable as possible."
The demon’s expression turned furious.
"You insolent human!"
"You dare speak to me that way?"
The demon suddenly charged toward Shota.
BOOM!
It moved closer at terrifying speed.
But
Shota smiled.
A magic field instantly spread around his body.
His figure disappeared.
"What?"
The demon stopped.
Shota had vanished completely.
The surrounding hunters stared in confusion.
"Where did he go?"
Then another S rank hunter stepped forward.
"It looks like it’s my turn."
Shota, still in his invisible state, raised his dagger.
He moved at incredible speed, aiming straight for the demon’s throat.
But
CLANG!
The demon blocked the attack.
Shota immediately jumped backward and landed on the ground.
It blocked me?
His eyes widened.
That should be impossible.
