I'll Raise My Future Omega Son-in-law

Chapter 55: WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

OH, WOW.

Wonyoung was pretty overwhelmed when he realized that Han Hyunjin didn’t come empty-handed.

His Omega father-in-law(?) had brought plenty of gifts for them.

Everyone has at least five gifts.

And he could tell that each one was really expensive.

"I feel bad, sir," Wonyoung blurted out. "We didn’t prepare any gift for you."

"What do you mean by that? You already brought me a precious gift," Han Hyunjin said, and then he looked at An Baekya meaningfully. "Is he our new grandson?"

Oh!

To be honest, Wonyoung was surprised when Yun Dujun told him earlier that his father and his family were already informed about An Baekya.

Sunbae-nim really likes his father’s side of the family.

"This is An Baekya, sir," Wonyoung said politely. "Baekya, greet your grandfather properly."

An Baekya immediately put his hands on his stomach, and then he bowed properly. "Hello, Grandpa. My name is An Baekya."

"You speak eloquently, Baekya," Han Hyunjin said, obviously impressed by An Baekya’s polite greeting. The older Omega even squatted down, probably to match the child’s eye level. "I’m your grandfather. Your other grandpa will meet you later. It’s a shame that he’s overseas at the moment. I’m sure he would have loved to meet you."

To be honest, Wonyoung wasn’t so sure about that.

But maybe Han Hyunjin and Chairman Yun Hyuk had a soft spot for children?

After all, they easily accepted Yun Yuhyun as their grandson.

"I can’t wait to meet my other grandfather," An Baekya said shyly, his cheeks suddenly turning pink as if he were suddenly embarrassed. "I finally have grandparents."

Aigoo.

Wonyoung couldn’t help but think that An Baekya was really good at acting shy.

How can he suddenly make his cheeks turn pink?

"You have a family now, Baekya," Han Hyunjin said while gently patting An Baekya’s head. "From now on, you are not alone."

THE lunch wasn’t as awkward as Wonyoung thought it would be.

For once, Han Hyunjin focused on feeding Yun Yuhyun and An Baekya.

Like a thoughtful grandpa that he is.

That was when Wonyoung became convinced that Yun Dujun’s parents were really fond of children.

If only they were that good to Dujun Sunbae-nim before...

"Hoobae-nim, what’s wrong? Do you not like the food?" Yun Dujun whispered. "You only had three plates of steak so far. And you usually have at least five plates."

Aigoo.

"Sunbae-nim, I’m not that much of a glutton," Wonyoung whispered back. "You make it sound like I inhale food whenever we’re eating."

"You don’t?"

Tsk.

Fine.

Wonyoung would admit that he was a meat lover.

And all the dishes served on the table were his style.

However...

I feel like I’m going to get indigestion because of Han Hyunjin-nim’s presence.

"Wonyoung-ssi?"

Wonyoung immediately straightened up in his seat and faced Han Hyunjin. "Yes, sir?"

"Can we talk in private after this?" Han Hyunjin asked, giving Wonyoung a small smile. "I’d love to have tea with you, Wonyoung-ssi."

***

"YOU must be wondering as to why I want to speak with you in private, Wonyoung-ssi."

"Yes, sir," Wonyoung answered politely. "To be honest, I was scared of meeting you. After all, I didn’t leave a nice impression when Dujun Sunbae-nim introduced me to your family. I still feel bad about acting the way I did back then."

Right now, Wonyoung and Han Hyunjin were having tea in the reception room.

They sat across from each other, with a spread of different snacks and pastries on the table between them.

It’s nerve-wracking that Sunbae-nim isn’t here, but I think I can manage.

"Don’t be sorry about that, Wonyoung-ssi," Han Hyunjin said gently while shaking his head. "Actually, that meeting served as a wake-up call for me and my husband. You were right, after all. We treated Dujun poorly because we couldn’t punish his mother directly."

Aha.

So, I was right all along— they lashed out at Dujun Sunbae-nim because they couldn’t touch his mother.

"I still don’t understand why we can’t punish Dujun Sunbae-nim’s mother, sir," Wonyoung said. Since the topic had been brought up already, he decided to talk about it now. "To be honest, I resent Dujun Sunbae-nim for not cutting off his mother after what she did to me. I hope you know that it was Dujun Sunbae-nim’s mother who almost killed me five years ago."

"We know," Han Hyunjin said, his voice full of remorse. "However, the state shaman who overlooks the family still protects Kang Chunja-ssi. That’s why my husband stopped Dujun when he tried to punish his mother after she almost killed you."

"Sunbae-nim never really talks about the state shaman of his family," Wonyoung said. Actually, he wasn’t sure if Yun Dujun had ever really talked about the state shaman. It was just that he couldn’t remember it because of his messy memories. "Why does the shaman protect Dujun Sunbae-nim’s mother?"

"Because she was the one who gave birth to Dujun."

"Huh? What does it mean, sir?"

"Dujun’s existence is important to the family. After all, he was the one destined to have an heir that would bring prosperity to the Yun Clan. As you already know, the heir is Yun Yuhyun."

Wonyoung couldn’t say anything because he was still confused.

I feel like this isn’t the first time I’ve heard about this, but I still don’t understand.

"Apparently, once our Yuhyun reaches a certain age, the treasure hidden by the Yun Clan will show up," Han Hyunjin said, shrugging. "I don’t know what kind of treasure that is, but my father-in-law is determined to live long enough to witness the emergence of that treasure. Until then, no one is allowed to touch Kang Chunja. Apparently, bad luck will follow the Yun Clan if something bad happens to her."

"And the Yun Clan really trusts this shaman?"

"Well, that shaman is the reason why the Yun Clan’s family business has grown big enough to be compared to chaebol groups."

Actually, that was true.

"I know it’s hard to understand, but please hang in there, Wonyoung-ssi," Han Hyunjin said, smiling apologetically at Wonyoung. "I’ll do my best so that Kang Chunaja won’t be able to hurt you again."

To be completely honest, Wonyoung still didn’t get it.

I don’t believe in shamans, after all.

However...

"Thank you for worrying about me, sir," Wonyoung said awkwardly. "But please protect An Baekya, too. I’m worried that Kang Chunja-ssi might hurt him, too."

"Yes, I’ll protect An Baekya. He’s my grandson now, after all," Han Hyunjin said, pausing for a moment. "Wonyoung-ssi, you can just address me as your father-in-law. You can just call me ’Appa.’"

Oh.

’Appa’ and not ’Father-in-law?’

That was a bit too much.

But, honestly, Wonyoung didn’t mind. "I understand, Appa."

***

YUN DUJUN was worried about Bae Wonyoung.

To be honest, when his husband fell into a comatose state after giving birth to Yun Yuhyun, his family started treating him differently.

They started being a little nicer to me.

Moreover, his father and his spouse genuinely adored Yun Yuhyun.

But I don’t know how they feel towards Bae Wonyoung.

"Yah! You’re scaring me!"

Yun Dujun lifted his head and found Yun Yuhyun and An Baekya bickering again.

Why do these kids always fight?

"What’s with your expressions?" Yun Yuhyun complained at An Baekya. "Have you lost your mind?"

Aigoo.

Sometimes, I wonder where Yun Yuhyun got his vocabulary.

"What do you mean?" An Baekya complained to Yun Yuhyun. "I’m just practicing my facial expressions."

"No, you’re being weird!"

"Because I’m doing this?"

An Baekya then started massaging his face, pinching his cheeks, and even stretching the corners of his mouth.

Oh.

Yun Dujun immediately realized what An Baekya was doing as a fellow actor.

"I need to learn how to show different expressions," An Baekya explained to Yun Yuhyun, who obviously didn’t look interested. "Appa said I should massage my face like this if I want to practice showing off a variety of facial expressions."

Yun Dujun nodded in agreement.

As expected, Hoobae-nim is already coaching An Baekya.

"BRRRRR!"

"Yah!" Yun Yuhyun complained again when An Baekya suddenly made a loud vibrating sound. "What are you doing now?"

"I’m going to read my script out loud," An Baekya said. "Appa said reading my lines out loud would help me improve my diction and pronunciation."

"You’re weird," Yun Yuhyun said, furrowing his brows. "Acting isn’t that hard anyway, so why go through all of that?"

Aigoo.

Yun Dujun noticed it when An Baekya frowned— clearly offended by Yun Yuhyun’s nonchalant attitude towards acting.

Well, my son is a genius who can act without thinking too much about it.

And that kind of attitude could be annoying for someone like An Baekya.

The kid is working hard, after all.

"An Baekya, do you want me to exchange lines with you?" Yun Dujun volunteered. "I want to see you act."
