Chapter 1330 - 1329: Fierce Battle at the Village Entrance
"Damn it, who did it? How were hundreds of guns and dozens of bombs destroyed?" Xiao He was furious upon hearing the news and could only have his brothers wait here with sticks.
"Boss, I don’t know, but it seems that the three men who were locked up are missing, like someone rescued them," said one of the guards specifically assigned to the manor.
"What? They were rescued? Damn it, what’s going on, which bastard is behind this? I want him ripped to pieces!" Xiao He was in a rage. He hadn’t even been defeated, yet someone dared to cause trouble in the manor.
At this point, Xu Ke walked over and whispered something in Xiao He’s ear, causing his eyebrows to furrow. If it was indeed Chen Tianlong, then it was troublesome; this kid, according to Xu Ke, was very capable.
But how did he discover the people I captured?
"Wang Du, take a small team over to see if those ladies are still there," Xiao He suddenly remembered Huang Lili; after all, apart from them, almost no one else knew where the three men were held.
"Yes, boss."
Wang Du dared not slack off and quickly led twenty people back.
After Wang Du left, there was suddenly some commotion at the gate of the stronghold because Zhang Yufei had been observing for a while. She noticed they had only a dozen guns, perhaps due to an inability to replenish their weapons or some other reason.
Thus, Zhang Yufei seized the opportunity to storm ahead. Although there were many of them, who was afraid of dying? Their thirty people all had guns; afraid of them? Not at all.
"Is everyone ready? We’re charging ahead," Zhang Yufei called to everyone.
"Ready."
Liu Hai was the first to respond.
"Ready."
The others chimed in uniformly.
Zhang Yufei smiled slightly and led the group to charge forward.
However, despite saying they’d charge, they were actually highly vigilant, considering the others numbered in the hundreds and there might be an ambush along the way. Anytime, they might sacrifice themselves.
Hence, to prevent any mishap, Zhang Yufei felt it was better to be cautious.
Chen Tianlong used his farsight ability from a hidden spot and discovered that it was Zhang Yufei leading the way.
Originally, he intended to escape amid the chaos with a few people, but now that he recognized it was Zhang Yufei, how could he ignore it?
Thus, Chen Tianlong’s plan abruptly changed — who was Zhang Yufei?
The bond between Chen Tianlong and Zhang Yufei was so close that it surpassed even Tan Xianglan; they shared life and death experiences and had moments of intimacy. Although they often bickered, they understood each other in their hearts, each carrying the other within.
"Chen Tianlong, why don’t we get a bit closer, otherwise, how will we charge out?"
Tan Xianglan had long been ready; she’s a practitioner. These people posed no threat to her, except for those wielding guns, shooting at others, which she couldn’t handle.
"Xianglan, that police officer is my... good friend, I must help her," Chen Tianlong said truthfully.
"Ah? Is that so..." Tan Xianglan was taken aback but quickly understood if they were indeed friends. Given the number disparity, they were in considerable danger.
"So... should we help destroy the stronghold?" Speaking of fighting, Tan Xianglan was quite brave. Thinking about how inhuman these people were made her furious, seeing those five lovely girls destroyed by them.
"Is there another way?" Chen Tianlong smiled bitterly.
"Okay!" Tan Xianglan responded straightforwardly; whatever Chen Tianlong wanted to do, she would do without hesitation, just like her own lover.
Chen Tianlong was stunned by Tan Xianglan’s reply but quickly understood that the present Tan Xianglan was no longer the person he had just met; rather, she was someone who shared life and death with him.
"Chen Tianlong, if one day I really die, would you mourn for me?" Tan Xianglan suddenly asked.
Chen Tianlong stared at her serious expression, which was no joke, and immediately furrowed his brow, becoming serious, and said, "There’s no ’if,’ because I won’t let that ’if’ happen, unless I die first!"
Tan Xianglan felt an impulse to cry upon hearing Chen Tianlong’s words. Such a promise was greater than any vows and oaths, especially in such a critical moment. What could be warmer than these words?
Tan Xianglan nodded deeply; at this moment, she already knew the answer.
"Huang Lili, you and everyone else hide here first. If we don’t come back, don’t come out, you understand?" Chen Tianlong instructed.
Huang Lili nodded heavily, and Chen Tianlong smiled slightly, leading Tan Xianglan to walk forward.
Over on Zhang Yufei’s side, thirty people slowly walked up, while Xiao He was as restless as ants on a hot pan. He only had a dozen guns and, though his people were many, most had useless equipment. Trying to fight would result in heavy losses.
However, with two to three hundred people, they needn’t fear thirty, as long as they remained hidden and used their higher ground, they could emerge victorious.
"Xu Ke, take fifty brothers back and craft a hundred bows. I’ll hold them off here."
Xiao He thought about it; they surely wouldn’t charge up here suddenly, given how they were shrouded in darkness with tools in hand.
As long as they remained hidden, they wouldn’t hit many of them. Sure enough, Zhang Yufei and Liu Hai led several charges but only managed to kill two or three before the rest hid, guarded the entrance, and held various knives and axes, preventing a direct charge.
Xu Ke received the order and quickly led people back, but upon reaching a corner, he ran into Chen Tianlong and Tan Xianglan.
"Chen Tianlong, so you’re here; was it you who released them?"
Xu Ke was somewhat angry, but recalling both were formidable, he immediately ordered his men to attack. However, they were all barehanded, no match for Chen Tianlong; in a few moves, they were all knocked out, unconscious.
At this moment, seeing things going poorly, Xu Ke hurriedly tried to escape and report back to Xiao He but, just two steps in, was struck down by Chen Tianlong’s silver needle, falling to the ground, uncertain of life or death.
"Chen Tianlong, do we charge straight in now?" Tan Xianglan saw they had already dealt with so many people and figured a surprise attack should be feasible.
"No, let’s wait a bit longer," Chen Tianlong said with a faint smile, as if anticipating something.
"Ah? Wait... you mean, wait until more of them come, then..."
"Haha, correct. Xianglan is indeed clever; could she be... my wife?" Chen Tianlong, momentarily excited, almost called Tan Xianglan his wife.
"Your what?" Tan Xianglan knew Chen Tianlong implied more, but he stopped abruptly, realizing he had almost misspoken.
"Haha, guess it, I’m not telling," Chen Tianlong laughed playfully.
"Hmph... not saying? Fine," Tan Xianglan blushed slightly, naturally understanding, but this was no time for flirting; they had to stay alert for incoming enemies.
Sure enough, soon Xiao He noticed the bows hadn’t arrived yet and thought perhaps a situation arose; hence he sent out another thirty people. Actually, Xiao He had doubts too; it wasn’t about delay, but something went wrong, otherwise, sending one person would suffice.
