Chapter 1308 - 1307: Capture the King First to Capture the Bandits
"Chen Tianlong, there are so many people, what do we do? Do we fight our way out?" Tan Xianglan actually wasn’t that scared; in a gorge like this, these guys had already lost.
Chen Tianlong had thought of this too. The boss of this bunch clearly didn’t have much of a brain. If they really started fighting and rushed into the mêlée, at close range they definitely wouldn’t dare shoot arrows or fire guns—if the other side reacted fast enough, they’d end up shooting their own people.
Only, Chen Tianlong didn’t plan to let him die; he was going to go straight for "capture the ringleader first."
"Who the hell are you, and why are you coming after us?" Chen Tianlong deliberately asked.
"Kao, kid, you’re asking what you already know. Can’t you tell we’re here to rob you?" Xiao He chuckled, walked over, and said, "Alright, enough nonsense. Hand over everything valuable you’ve got."
"Oh, your stuff, huh. What exactly do you want me to hand over?" Chen Tianlong actually wanted to piss this guy off. One look and you could tell he was the boss—no one else dared talk, and he’d been yelling nonstop. If he wasn’t the boss, who else could he be?
"Damn, didn’t you hear what I said? I told you to take out all your valuables. Okay, I’ve repeated myself, now get to it." Xiao He had this habit when robbing people: he made the victims take things out themselves. After they were done, if they’d hidden anything, for each hidden item he’d chop off a leg or an arm.
"Alright, the most valuable thing on me is just this life of mine. Other than that, I’ve got nothing in my pockets." Chen Tianlong said on purpose. In reality, he did have something in his pocket, and it was a good thing—namely, the Dong Race West Suburb Mountain Range Map.
That thing was worth twenty-five million, but to them it was just a piece of scrap paper. They had no clue how to develop anything; they just sat around all day waiting for people to come by so they could rob them.
Though honestly, living like this, relying on robbery alone, wouldn’t last very long.
Their strategist Xu Ke had given him advice, telling him to run some businesses or whatever. But after a few days he felt it was bullshit—earn a bit of money and you still had to split it with all sorts of people.
How could that compare to the thrill of robbing? Whatever they grabbed was all theirs, no dividends or profit-sharing hassle. So Mountain King Xiao He stopped bothering with any "economy" and devoted himself to robbery.
Not long ago, they’d just robbed a group of tourists—got money and even picked up a few beauties.
This time was even sweeter. This girl was clearly a top-tier beauty. As for the guy, whether they killed him or not didn’t matter; they just had to lock him up so he couldn’t go out and tip anyone off.
"Kid, saying that... you want me to take your life, is that it?" Xiao He had a bad temper, and watching how calm Huang Zhong looked just ticked him off.
"Oh, I’m just saying I’ve got no money. You can search me if you don’t believe it." Chen Tianlong said casually.
After hearing Chen Tianlong’s words, Xiao He frowned. He’d already noticed this kid had some skills, but with so many of his own men and even guns, he wasn’t worried this brat could pull any tricks. He waved his hand, signaling everyone to surround them.
Two underlings got the order, walked over, and started searching Chen Tianlong. After a while, they only found one map on him. And this map clearly wasn’t ordinary—it was a mineral distribution map.
One glance and Xiao He felt this guy wasn’t simple—planning to develop the Dong Race West Suburb Mountains, huh, even carrying a mineral map. But for now the Mountain King couldn’t see the map’s value at all; to him it just looked ordinary.
Another two went to search Tan Xianglan and actually found a big thing on her. They opened the wrapping and saw it was an Alchemy Furnace.
"Little beauty, what do you want this Alchemy Furnace for?" Xiao He clearly didn’t recognize what it was worth.
"Oh, someone in my family knows Alchemy. When I came out to play, he asked me to buy him one. It cost over a thousand." Tan Xianglan said directly.
"Oh? This thing’s worth over a thousand?"
Xiao He looked at the Alchemy Furnace with disdain. Normally he wouldn’t even want it if someone gave it to him. But after hearing Xianglan say a thousand, he wasn’t sure if it was true. He planned to keep it anyway; later he could sell it for a few hundred, enough to buy smokes and booze.
He looked the two of them over again. Aside from a few hundred cash in their wallets, there were just two cards. No idea how much was in them; anyway, once they got them back to the lair, they’d interrogate them properly.
With people in their hands, they could play however they wanted. No way they’d refuse to give up the passwords.
Xiao He was about to lead everyone back when a voice suddenly sounded behind him. He jerked his head around and saw Chen Tianlong holding a bracelet, hand outstretched as he said, "I’ve got one more bracelet. Not sure if it’s worth anything. Boss, you want it or not?"
"Kao, you little punk were hiding something. Good thing you brought it out in time. If I’d found it myself, you’d be dead." This time Xiao He didn’t call his men over; he went himself.
Chen Tianlong had expected this. After that first body search by the underlings, his lack of resistance would make the big boss drop his guard and come take it himself.
Just as Xiao He walked over, all excited to take the bracelet from Chen Tianlong’s hand, Chen Tianlong moved.
He flashed forward, as fast as lightning, fingers clawed, and clamped down on Xiao He’s throat.
"Nobody move. If anyone moves, I’ll snap his neck." As soon as he finished, Chen Tianlong squeezed, and Xiao He felt a surge of terrifying strength. He was so scared he almost dropped to his knees.
In truth, Xiao He was a coward. He only acted arrogant because he had a lot of men willing to die for him. When he really ran into a master, all he was good for was pissing his pants.
"Kid, what do you think you’re doing? Let me go, we can talk this out." Xiao He hurriedly said. The kid’s grip was insanely strong—no matter how he struggled, he couldn’t move. If this guy really squeezed, he’d be dead in an instant.
"Heh, that so? Then let the lady go, and have all your gunners and archers put down their weapons. Otherwise I’ll snap your neck right now." Chen Tianlong threatened.
"Kid, if you kill me, you two still won’t escape." Xiao He tried threatening him back.
"Oh yeah? Our lives are cheap. But you’re their boss—one word from you and they all move. You’ve got a choice, so why butt heads with us? You’re a bandit chief; skipping two small fry like us isn’t going to starve you." Chen Tianlong reasoned. "Anyway, your life’s in your own hands. I’ve said my piece; now it’s up to you."
"Huuuh..." Xiao He took a deep breath, thought it over, and felt the kid had a point. Besides, even if he let them go, in these mountains they wouldn’t get far before his men caught them again. He sneered inwardly and said, "Fine, I agree."
"Good, then give the order."
"All of you, put your weapons down and back off twenty meters. Let the beauty go."
