Chapter 310: Love Of His Life
’Good thing Xiu filled my space ring with so many healing potions.’
Aegon had the three perpetrators healed and brought inside the Aerial Council. There, they were forced onto their knees while Aegon and Elara sat comfortably on chairs before them.
Kaelis was standing on his left along with the others, refusing to sit at the same status as him. His shadows had already returned to their original positions, but even from there, they controlled the three individuals.
Glancing at Kaelis, whose face gave away no emotions, Aegon asked, "Was there anyone else?"
"Not that I remember," Kaelis shook his head. "They’re the handlers. I wouldn’t know if there are more."
"So, now the question is for you guys." Aegon turned towards the perpetrators. "I’m honestly not fond of torture or anything, so how about you spill out everything?"
"Go to hell!" the one-armed man spat out.
"Hmm, you know what? It doesn’t really matter." Aegon stood up, stretching his hand. "We’re visiting the Coral Kingdom next anyway, so we might as well collect all the information from there."
The man frowned, clearly not believing his bluff. "I don’t know how you managed to outdo us, but it won’t matter. You have chosen the death of every single Vayrin."
Aegon sighed and asked, "Have you gone blind by any chance?"
The man froze.
"Wait. Really?" This time it was Aegon’s turn to be surprised. "What about the other two?"
The other two shivered under his gaze, looking down as if the ground was the most interesting thing in existence. Aegon’s lips twitched as he turned his gaze towards his shadows.
[They might have gone a bit overboard....]
Sighing, he walked towards the one-armed man and crouched down. "You think I’m bluffing? That I’m not Aegon?"
"Obviously. Why would the exalted Lord Valerian come to this land of miserables?" the man replied with a scoff.
"Alright then, look at this." Aegon smiled, clutching the man’s head. "Watch carefully."
"But I can’t...."
The man froze again, his body trembling as a pair of bright golden eyes shone upon his Soul, containing such profound depth that they raised turbulent waves within his Sea of Consciousness.
"Y-You..." The man couldn’t even form words, sweat dripping from his forehead. "You’re really him... but why?"
"Now, now. You don’t ask the questions here, I do." Aegon smiled calmly, still holding the man’s head. "Answer properly and I’ll leave you to the Aerial Council. If you don’t, then I also have a dragon flying outside."
The man immediately prostrated himself. "Lord Valerian... I’ll answer everything."
"Good." Aegon stood up again and asked, "Anyone else from your kingdom here? Any accomplices?"
"No. We three were enough to carry out the mission, so they didn’t send anyone else."
Aegon crossed his arms over his chest. "Anything else you know?"
"No, Sire. We were given orders, and we followed them," the man answered truthfully. "We were told to coerce the members of the Aerial Council first. Once that was done, threaten the Administrator. If he didn’t accept becoming our puppet, we were to activate the explosives. That’s all."
Aegon stared at him for a moment longer before turning around. "That’s all then. They’re all yours, Uncle."
"L-Lord. Please have mercy. We were also forced."
Aegon waved his hand and walked out of the hall, Elara coming to walk beside him while Kaelis bowed in understanding. He had already told them that he couldn’t stay for long, so since this matter was done here, he decided to focus on other things.
"We’re still going to the Coral Kingdom, right?" Elara asked softly.
"Of course, I didn’t forget it, El." Aegon took her hand in his and said, "Do you think someone from the Elven side is colluding with the humans?"
"Yes, maybe this is because of our decision to bring the races together." Elara sighed in dejection. "Those old codgers hate humans and would do anything to ruin the current relationship."
Aegon thought for a few seconds before saying, "I think they wanted to use this matter to blame humans for stealing Elven items and using them for nefarious purposes."
"But that’s impossible without...." Elara paused, then facepalmed. "Never mind. Explaining it would just backfire. Are they crazy? So hateful that they would rather drag innocents into war instead of accepting to live together."
"We can’t understand their mentality," Aegon shrugged before smiling. "But we can stop their plans. Sorry, we have to do all this during our date."
"It’s fine." Elara smiled sweetly, hugging his arm and leaning on his shoulder as her soft hair fell over him. "I enjoy everything we do together, so even this is fun. I get to see more sides of you too, all while solving worldly problems. Isn’t that the best date possible?"
"Now that you put it like that." Aegon grinned. "Also, everything? You mean that too?"
Instantly, her ears turned red as she pulled his cheeks in return. "You’re getting too mischievous. Don’t forget I’m the older one here."
"So you like big..."
That earned him a solid ear pull, but he was smiling throughout the ordeal, laughing at how cute her face became whenever she got embarrassed.
"Haha! Alright, alright, I’ll stop." Aegon wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead. "Sorry about that. But I really can’t help it. You’re so cute."
"So it’s my fault now?" She glared at him.
"Yup. Who told you to become the most beautiful woman in the whole world?" Aegon grinned in return.
"Shameless!"
"I might be shameless, but I am yours."
She wiggled out of his embrace and kicked him lightly on the calf. "Call Virginia so we can leave."
Aegon quickly took her hand before she could get away and said, "She’s already here."
"What do you mean?"
Instead of answering, Aegon dragged her towards the edge of the island and jumped down, taking her with him. They began falling towards the dark depths below as Elara hurriedly hugged him tightly.
"Why did you do that?" Elara screamed.
Aegon laughed and whistled as the wind currents around him changed. Then he grabbed Elara and rolled in midair before landing perfectly on the solid, rugged back of a large dragon.
Smiling at the love of his life, he asked, "Did you like it?"
She laughed in return. "It was thrilling."
