Chapter 301: The Last Bits Of Chainbound Sky
They didn’t stay on the Mirror Lake for long, as they didn’t have a lot of time on their hands. Still, they did enjoy it, and that was all that mattered.
After the Mirror Lake, the two of them visited other islands too, each having some specialty that defied the normal laws of this world. It was truly marvelous to explore them.
Unfortunately, there were many islands and they had limited time, so they only explored five islands in total before deciding to put an end to their trip there.
Surprisingly enough, one of those islands was actually forbidden for outsiders, but Administrator Kaelis opened it just for them. And to say it was the most beautiful of all wouldn’t be an understatement.
Aegon even wondered if he should contact Arnold and tell him about this place. After all, it was a haven of gardens, but then he threw aside the idea. Arnold only liked the gardens personally made by himself, not the other ones no matter how beautiful they were.
By the end of their tour of Chainbound Sky, Aegon had Elara leaning against his shoulder, her arm around his elbow, with a radiant smile on her face.
"I’m glad you enjoyed it," Aegon said.
"Enjoy it? I loved it!" Elara pinched his cheeks and said, "I really didn’t expect my Little Gon to grow up so big and plan everything so maturely."
"You really can’t stop that little Gon," he sighed.
But she completely ignored him and said, "I was so worried about the lady who will enter your life because you were a big dum dum when it came to relationships. Granted, I didn’t know I’ll be that lady one day."
"Still worried about that beautiful lady?" Aegon asked, tightening his hold on her hand.
"Not at all. She’s very lucky to get my Little Gon."
Aegon smiled helplessly and said, "Should we meet Admin Kaelis before leaving? He did give us good hospitality."
"I was thinking the same. At least, we should thank him for everything. Though, I’m pretty sure some Elders of mine will get pissed off if they learn of it."
"As they say, the older you get, the stupider you become."
Elara giggled softly and said, "I’m pretty sure that’s the wrong one, Dummy."
"Nope. Because the Great Aegon Valeria Augustus just invented it." Aegon shrugged.
"Hmm. Imagine someone reading your life and they see this quote," she shook her head. "How disappointed they will be."
"Quite the opposite," Aegon said, thinking of something. "They’ll most likely think I meant something profound that they can’t interpret, which will make them treat me even higher."
Elara opened her mouth to retort but couldn’t because she had seen such things happen. Simple words would be exaggerated to no end.
"Let’s not waste time on our useless talk. Otherwise, even an eternity can pass, but this won’t end."
Elara nodded in agreement, "You’re right. But the blame is on you because you talk way more."
"You’re already behaving like a wife, blaming everything on your husband."
"Shut up or I’ll show you if I’m really your wife or not."
"Okay, okay. Chill. We’re going there."
It was already way past noon when they arrived in Skyreach. The island looked as majestic as always. It was the ruler of the Chainbound Sky.
A woman was already waiting for them. She bowed in respect, then led them towards a dome-like structure, with many tall spires surrounding it.
Many people working there bowed upon seeing them before going back to work. Aegon appreciated that over the over-fatuation that many showed.
Finally, the lady stopped before a tall metal door and gestured for them to go inside. Entering inside, they found a wide hall with beautiful murals and paintings on the walls, a long circular table placed in the centre along with many refreshments on it.
The moment he stepped there, Aegon noticed a change in atmosphere and it was mostly due to the four people sitting at that table, talking with somber looks on their faces.
Upon seeing him enter, they stopped and stood up. They tried to smile, but Aegon easily noticed it was forced. He wondered what had happened to them.
"Welcome to the Aerial Council, Lord Aegon, Lady Elara," Administrator Kaelis smiled at them. "I hope you enjoyed your time in our small nation."
"It’s not small by any means," Elara smiled politely at him. "And yes, we enjoyed it a lot. The people here and of course the Aerial Council have kept this place as wonderful as always."
"It was our first time here," Aegon added. "And I have to say that I’m very impressed. I’ll probably make a trip here once in a while to relax."
The outside world was busy in wars, politics, and so many things, but the Chainbound Sky seemed to have no interest in that. It just stayed stagnant in a way, but they enjoyed that stagnation.
Aegon preferred that when he wanted to give his mind some rest.
"You’re flattering me. It’s all Aeolus’s blessings."
Aegon searched his memory quickly and thought, ’God of Wind, Aeolus, the only divinity worshipped in Chainbound Sky, as the Vayrins believed it was His blessings that sustained Chainbound Sky.’
"Please, take a seat." Kaelis gestured towards the head seats, where normally he sat.
But Aegon waved his hand and sat on the normal ones, "Let’s skip the formalities, Administrator. We aren’t the type of people to sit and chat for hours, are we? You need our help, don’t you? So why don’t you explain everything!"
Kaelis wasn’t surprised to see they saw through him. It was expected from the heirs of the strongest forces in the world. If they weren’t smart, the world would consume them from inside out.
He glanced at his companions. All three were Seats from different Floating Islands. After he adjourned the Aerial Council meeting, they were the only ones remaining with him.
Just thinking about what happened in the Aerial Council meeting made him clench his fists in anger. Still, he inhaled deeply and forced himself to calm down.
Then, he raised his head and said, "I need your help. No, it’s better to say the Chainbound Sky needs your help, otherwise it will perish."
