A lone, decrepit cabin stood deep within a secluded forest, shrouded in darkness. It was an old wooden structure covered in moss, long abandoned. Or at least, that’s how it appeared. In reality, it was one of the many hidden hideouts Karnak had secretly prepared.
He was expecting to engage in many more questionable activities in the future. Thus, he had constructed secret shelters in places devoid of human presence.
Serati clicked her tongue as she looked around. "Wow. Isn't this a bit much?"
She had a good reason for saying that. This forest lay on the outskirts of the Deventor Viscounty. It was blatantly obvious that Karnak planned to stir up trouble here and shift the blame onto Deventor.
She continued, "Can't you just leave them alone for once?"
Karnak simply shrugged. "Come on, it's not that bad. I do have some conscience, you know."
Apparently, his plan this time was to ensure he didn't get caught.
"And if you do get caught, you're still going to pin it on them, right?"
"It won’t matter if I don’t get caught. Don’t worry."
"Ugh." Serati let out a deep sigh and shook her head.
At that moment, a middle-aged man trailing behind them turned to Karnak. "Is this the place?"
"Yeah."
