Chapter 396: The Big Family Departing
The grand hall of Grafen Castle was a scene of excited chaos as everyone made their final preparations for departure. The sound of laughter, clinking armor, and rustling dresses filled the air, creating a lively atmosphere that mirrored the anticipation bubbling inside each of them. It was a rare occasion—all of them would be traveling together, except for Arielle, who had reluctantly chosen to stay behind to oversee Grafen’s safety.
Wilhelmina was fastening her new dress, a lovely shade of deep blue that shimmered under the chandelier light, as she exchanged playful jabs with Alice, who seemed equally thrilled about her own purchase.
"Well, look at you, Wil," Alice teased with a grin.
"I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so fancy. You sure this dress won’t weigh you down?"
Wilhelmina shot her a pointed look, but her smile gave away her amusement.
"Just because I look like a lady doesn’t mean I can’t swing a blade," she retorted, smoothing her dress. Alice laughed and threw her hands up in mock surrender.
Surena, on the other hand, was twirling in her new green gown, her eyes sparkling as she caught sight of her reflection in one of the ornate mirrors lining the hall.
"I have to admit, I’m not used to dressing like this," she said, almost shyly, as she turned to Emilia, who was adjusting her own dress—a soft cream-colored one that perfectly complemented her auburn hair.
"You look beautiful, Surena," Emilia said with a warm smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
"It suits you. We should do things like this more often." Surena nodded, her face softening, and for a moment, they both seemed lost in the simplicity of the moment.
Lyan watched them from a distance, a smile tugging at his lips. They all looked so different, so... carefree. He couldn’t help but admire the way they carried themselves—strong, confident, and undeniably beautiful. It was rare to see them so relaxed, and he felt a sense of pride swell in his chest. He had to force himself to look away when he caught himself staring a bit too long.
