It was as if these people were soulless puppets. They raised their heads and slammed them against the ground at the exact same time. They could not feel any pain even though their foreheads were bleeding profusely. They just kept kowtowing again and again, the eerily uniform noise resounding throughout the town like some sort of ritualistic music.
At the same time, the blood on the ground was slowly flowing toward the effigy. It slowly turned redder and redder until it looked like it might gain a mind at any moment.

It was at this moment a heavenly drumbeat erupted from the sky, and the effigy exploded without warning. What sounded like a shrill cry broke out, and countless wisps of gray fog flew out of the statues and the people’s heads. They converged together and formed an old woman wearing a red outfit.
