Chapter 1313: Rest In Peace
Thousands of kilometers away from the battlefield, at a small town called Home Viewing Town.
Home Viewing Town was established close to a mountain and a river. Therefore, its sceneries were beautiful, and its fields were fertile. A famous farm village, it boasted a population and popularity similar to that of a commandery.
Home Viewing Town was most busy during the morning. After all, that was when all the work began.
By the time the cock crowed thrice, and the sun rose from the east, the town was a hubbub of noise and work already.
Today was different though. Today, Home Viewing Town was utterly silent. Forget humans, even the animals weren’t making a single noise. It was as if the entire town had gone missing or something.
Of course, Home View Town wasn’t missing. The townspeople weren’t dead or gone either. They had simply fallen asleep.
That’s right. Everyone in Home Viewing Town was snoring on their beds right now. Even the animals were slumbering in their pens, kennels, and the like.
It was a deep, unwakeable sleep that not even a thunderclap could wake them from. Worse, they did not inhale, only exhaled.
Their breaths were faint red in color and smelled terribly of blood. Instead of fading into the surroundings, the bloody breaths floated up into the sky and formed a thick, bloody cloud.
Deep within the bloody cloud was a sacrificial altar, and seated on top of the sacrificial altar was a man. He was chanting some sort of spell and causing the surrounding blood cloud to stir and rotate like a giant whirlpool; a bloody maw.
At the center of the bloody maw stood an ancient, mysterious stone door. It was slowly swinging open.
