Chapter 293: Disappeared_1
The little guy followed the sound and turned, at first showing no response. It wasn’t until Mu WuXie stepped forward, drawing closer, and smiled at him, that an immediate array of expressions blossomed on the baby’s little face, signaling excitement.
At seven weeks old, most babies are already able to distinguish their parents from strangers. When they see their mom and dad or familiar faces, they immediately smile, flailing their arms and legs in delight and uttering ’oh oh’ and ’ah ah’ as if they’re trying to speak.
Mu WuXie was reassured; he had been worried that after a few days apart, the baby would surely forget him. But the baby still seemed to recognize the familiar scent on him.
After all, he had been with the child for nearly two months, day and night, and it was truly hard to let go all of a sudden.
These past few nights, his sleep had been restless, suddenly waking with thoughts of whether the child was hungry, awake, or needed feeding, only to confusingly remember upon waking that the baby had already been sent away, leaving an empty ache in his heart.
If a stranger like him felt this way, what about the mother who bore him and with whom he shared blood?
In the beginning, he couldn’t understand why Xiao Qiao consistently neglected the baby, initially suspecting it was because she didn’t want to be entangled with the Gu Family. It was only later that he finally understood that if she had stayed glued to the baby, she never would have been able to bear leaving him.
Even touching his little hand or caressing his soft body would probably become an endless source of pain and yearning in her times to come.
Gu Hangshen was clearly dissatisfied with Mu WuXie’s immediate and wordless bonding with his son upon seeing them and promptly covered up a corner of the blanket.
"You know why I came looking for you," Gu Hangshen said expressionlessly, cutting to the chase.
Looking at Gu Hangshen’s petty behavior, Mu WuXie touched his nose, "I know, but I’m sorry, I can’t help you."
